It's tough being a woman!

I am currently finishing up a Bible study by Beth Moore on the book of Esther. For several weeks I have been wanting to share a little bit with my blog readers (if there are any out there!) about this incredible study and what it is doing in my life. I am hesitant to even begin because I know it is going to be hard to relay via internet how God is speaking to me through Beth, His Word, and the women in this study group. But with much excitement here I go...I am going to take a stab at it!!

Esther is a is not a typical book in the Bible, in fact for a book that is stuffed full of God's teachings, God's promises, His intricate devotion to detail, and example after example of His love...oddly enough His name is NOT mentioned even once!! Irony, I think not....maybe dramatic effect! :) The intense story of Esther is written like a dramatic novel with in depth descriptions of feelings, events, and circumstances. This is a story that keeps your nose pressed to the Book. One moment you are gasping at ridiculous requests made by an arrogant king and the next you are letting out a big whoop whoop for a little Jewish orphan who hears God speak and follows His direction obediently. Esther 4:14 reads, " And who knows but that you have come to royal position for such as time as this?" Esther fought the idea that God could use her in a big way, after all she seem so unqualified, ill prepared, and most of all the timing was not right!! Boy was she wrong....God knew who she was, where she came from, and He knew what the odds were against her but He called her to be faithful and obedient. WOW, I think that is what He is trying to tell so many of us sometimes. Even though we hesitate and feel unworthy God knows where we are and He put us there for a reason. The truth is God's destiny will be fulfilled, Hallelujah!! And I don't know about you but I want to be a part of it!!

Beth's study also acknowledges the fact that YEAH, It's tough being a woman but God gives us many promises and words of wisdom to help us through the journey. Beth came up with several scenarios after compiling a survey she took from average everyday women. After each scenario she gave some scripture references of promises that God gave us regaurding the tough scenario. If you are at all the least bit interested in feeling revived, rejuvenated, or encouraged this is the study for you. But beware the next time you feel God tug on your heart to be His hands and feet and work to further His kingdom all those excuses you are used to giving will no longer justify your unwillingness, you may find yourself empowered through Him to do mighty tasks!! Hope you will take a look at this study, I know you will be blessed!!

"Big Talker"

Bennett is talking up a storm now!! He says "Hey Momma" and "Hey DaDa" all the time!! In this video he is also saying "Giggle Giggle." That is what he calls cookies--haha I don't really know where he got that from but he started saying it and it stuck. He now has the whole family calling cookies giggles!! When he is thristy he makes the sweetest "Ahhhhh" sound and as soon as you hand him his cup (or anything for that matter) he say "Thank You." In this video he is looking for his pacifier which he calls "Papoo." It is a special occasion when he has it when he is out and about... normally the paci is only a bedtime/naptime treat but today with teething Aunt Natty says he deserves it whenever!! :) Some of Bennett's other favorite words/phrases are: "War Eagle" "Squirrel" (He loves to watch the squirrels out the window) "Truck" "Clock" "Quack, quack" "Err Err Errrrr" (That is a rooster's noise and he makes it whenever he sees Daddy a.k.a. his "Rooster") "Hot" (He always warns me before I open the oven or whenever I am near a burning candle.) and he will say pretty much anything else that we repeat over and over or coach him into saying. He gets more and more precious every day!! God is good and I am amazed by His handiwork that I see in this little angel!!

Whoa!! Bennett got a new shirt.......

ImageHe is going to be a big brother!!! Shelley and Jason went to the doctor today to hear their new baby's heart beat and to see him or her on an ultrasound. The doctor said everything looks great and the baby is due on October 7th which means Shelley is about 10 weeks along. Please pray for a healthy baby and another great pregnancy!! I can't wait to be an aunt again and to have another little one to love!!

Image Bennett was wearing his daddy's hat and playing peek a boo at my house this night...ahhhh he's so precious! If the new baby is half as cute as this then we are in good shape!! Aunt Natty loves you Bennett!!

Strawberry Sale

Image
This year strawberries are being sold to raise funds for the 2009 Mexico Mission trip for Trinity United Methodist Church. I have had the honor of going on this trip two times in the past and I am excited to have the opportunity to go again this year!! Since 1995 the youth of Trinity have been giving up a week of their summer vacation to work together to build homes in Mexico for those much less fortunate. To date, we have literally built over 50 homes and 1 church, as well as provided hope for those communities seeking a better life with Christ. We appreciate all your support on this and other summer mission trips! Each flat of strawberries is $15 and contains 12 pints of beautiful sweet berries... picked the day before you receive them from Plant City, Florida. The sale will be Saturday, March 28th from 8:30am to 4:00pm at Trinity United Methodist Church. You can pre-buy your strawberries from me and pick them up or have them delivered on the day of the sale. Please let me know if you are interested!! Also please remember to keep the entire Mission Team in your thoughts and prayers on June 13th-20th, as well as the weeks leading up to the trip. I am hoping and expecting that God is going to move in a big way through the hands and feet of Trinity through this trip!!

Yee-Haw!!

Several ;) years ago my daddy ask my momma on their first date to the Montgomery Rodeo--- romantic huh?! ha Now it's one of our little family traditions to go every year. We start off by going out to eat, then on to enjoy the rodeo, and finally we finish the trip off with some fresh, hot doughnuts from Krispy Kreme--YUM!!

This year we kicked off the trip with some Japanese cuisine at Shogun!ImageWe brought along Charlsie (KC's friend/my honorary little sis) for the trip.

ImageRyan even drove down to meet us and find out what the rodeo experience was all about!!

After our bellies were full we made our way to the rodeo and even had enough time to tour the livestock expo before the main event started. Let me tell ya, the "out doors" smell was strong, haha!! Bennett enjoyed it; he got to see lots of big cows and he even got to pet a few.

Image
ImageI couldn't resist getting a picture taken in front of the massive cattle!!
Look at how he is looking over our shoulders...a little scary huh?!

ImageThe precious Young family, ahh aren't they cute??

The rodeo was fun this year. The clown "Troy" was silly as usual and he swapped roles half way through to become "Wild Child" and he did his dare devil act by jumping over a truck and trailer on a dirty bike...scary but very cool! The best division was the bare back bucking broncos, the cowboys had some pretty impressive rides. The rest of the catergories (barrell riding, roping, calf wrestling, and even bull riding) were a little bit disappointing this year, but oh well. No matter what, I am already looking forward to next year!!

ImageAll this rodeoing wore this little cowboy out!! (Don't worry he woke up and changed into his pjs just in time for the doughnut run!!) Thank goodness for family traditions! :)

From the beach to a blizzard!!

I spent this weekend at the Gulf Coast Women's Retreat at Perdido Beach Resort in Orange Beach, Alabama. It was a blast! We even had a chance to walk on the beach during our breaks. Then we arrived home on Sunday to find a white, winter wonderland! It was hard to believe that just four short hours away it was almost 70 degrees and here there was a blanket of 5 inches of snow!! Here are some pictures from my weekend retreat and then some snow day pictures. Enjoy!!

ImageMe and momma enjoying a walk on the beach. I didn't want to come home!!

Momma, Heather, and Audrey are visiting and trying to decide what breakout session to go to next.

ImageThis is Gwen Smith the worship leader. She is AWESOME!! I first heard her sing last year at the retreat and I bought her CD cause I loved it so much. This year I bought her book. (Yes, I am going to try to read another book!) It was great to meet her and tell her how much I have enjoyed worshiping with her CD. I would love to get her to come to Opelika for a concert sometime this summer. I will keep ya'll posted on that! :)

Her book is called Broken into Beautiful and I have only read the first chapter but already I can see that her testimony and walk with God is going to be encouraging and inspirational. I love her sincerety and transparency. She really has an effortlessly beautiful voice as well!!Image
I am already looking forward to next year's retreat. There is just something about singing praise and worship music with over 350 women and hearing different women talk about what God has done in their lives and the lives of their friends and family that brings you closer to Him. Also, chatting until way past midnight and laughing until you cry are two things that I can't wait to experience again next year! (Thanks Heather, Audrey, and April :])

ImageThis is the cross in front of our church...what a beatiful sight!

ImageAll bundled up at momma and daddy's house getting ready for a snow ball fight.

Me and Katie Caroline were trying to gang up on Daddy but he was catching our snowballs and then throwing them right back at us!! ha Mom even filmed the horses all gathered up under the trees and in the barn trying to stay warm. I am glad that I live somewhere where most of the time it is warm but every once and a while a little bit of snow is a lot of fun!! Sorry for the long post...thanks for reading!!
