PJP Inside is Prison Journalism Project’s award-winning educational magazine, published four times a year. Each issue teaches, inspires and showcases PJP-style journalism by featuring stories from our writers, so people behind bars can learn from one another. As a core part of PJP Learning, the magazine brings our journalism training to life.
We have partnered with the prison education platform Edovo to make PJP Inside available on tablets to more than 1 million incarcerated people across the U.S. We also print a limited number of copies for prison libraries, educational programs and community organizations.
Each quarterly issue centers on a learning theme and features some of the strongest work from PJP writers nationwide. Inside, readers find:
- News reports, commentary and personal stories on topics ranging from current events to mental health and family relationships.
- Work from both first-time and regular contributors, along with original content.
- Learning tools for writers at every level, including annotated stories with editorial feedback.
- Instructional resources on journalism, paired with illustrations, examples, quizzes, activities and Q&As.
