We are going to miss you Grandpa!

My first picture with Grandpa!

It was a really neat experience for me to be with my grandpa when he passed away on Friday. The spirit was very strong. My uncle told us the night before Grandpa said his mother had come to visit him. The hospice nurse said, "Isn't it just like a mother to get her baby". I thought it was very sweet. It was neat for me to see how much my grandpa had impacted the hospice nurses, bishop, neighbors and friends. He was always such a great example to me and my family it was just fun to see how that had spread out to so many people. My grandpa died on March 27th exactly 65 years after his father. I know his reunion in heaven was incredible.
I love my grandpa and I am so greatful to know that I will see him again.

Three Years of Marital Bliss

Honestly it is weird for me to say I have been married for three years. For a long time I wondered if I would ever find Mr. Right. Three years doesn't seem all that long, but but since my longest relationship before Jeff only lasted a few months, it seems like forever.

We celebrated our Anniversary at Little America. It was my year to plan and I debated spending a lot of money and decided to go cheaper this year. For the money the hotel and room were very nice. We had such a nice time just being alone: no phone calls...no e-mails...just us. Sunday was our actual anniversary and after we checked out we went next door to the Grand America for their Sunday Brunch. All I can say is FABULOUS!! I loved everything about it including the amazing live jazz band. Jeff and I left so gorged that we could barely walk. It was a great time mostly because I am so in love with my husband and he is such a great friend.

Grandpa's 90th Birthday Party

I was so excited to throw a birthday party for my Grandpa Schutz. He has always been the most kind and loving Grandpa. His health has really deteriorated and he told my dad that this was probably the last year of his life. Unfortunately my dad is the only child they have in Utah so it was a small party. We made a nice dinner and then I had everyone write letters and notes that we put in the bucket below. My Grandpa was so surprised and grateful.

Since his birthday on February 5, his health has gotten much worse. He thinks he only has a few weeks to live. When I was talking to him the other day he said he was ready to die but then started to cry and said, I just don't know how to leave Grandma. Grandma is 92 and super healthy. I am hoping to take as many opportunities as I can with my Grandpa before it is too late. He is one of the most amazing people that I have ever met and I love him so much. Image

Trying to keep busy in January

Making the most of January

So far January has been great. Generally it is my least favorite month because the holidays are over and it is so darn cold. Jeff and I finally convinced ourselves to invest in a family toy and purchase an end of the season Kawasaki Teryx. It was hard to spend our savings but we have wanted to do more playing as a family. Jeff's older brother Jason who plays more than anyone I know...told us it was time. We are really excited about our purchase but now have to wait for warmer days to take it out.

Because the last couple of days have been so warm Gavin and I have been able to go outside. Today we went sledding with a friend. Gavin didn't like it at all. I don't know if it was the speed or his mother's crazy stirring but he wouldn't go on it after a couple of times.

We tried our hand at making finger paint and painting. Gavin loved it for 5 minutes and then was done. Overnight he is talking so much more and getting so smart. A month ago he was hardly talking, now he says many words and knows the sounds to many animals and still says Ho Ho Ho through out the day.

Jeff has been very busy at the shop (we are deeply grateful) and busy finishing our basement.

Lots and lots of fun!

Coldplay Concert

Image
The coldplay concert was amazing. I bought tickets last spring and so was way excited, but I had no idea what to really expect. I started to like Coldplay a few years ago but haven't been an obsessed fan or anything. Just really liked their music and their new cd. I was totally blown away. They were so full of energy and fun. I was so impressed with Chris Martin playing the piano, then jumping around and singing while picking up a guitar, and then ending with a piano solo all during one song. They interacted a lot with the crowd and even left the stage to come flying out of the back end corner of the stadium playing a couple of their songs in the middle of the people. They were so hot and their stage rocked out. I loved every second of the concert. Too bad Chris says at age 31 he is too old to be playing music and plans to retire in a year or so. How disappointing.
