It has been two years since my last post?! Wow time really flies! I miss writing so much. But priority is priority. I was so busy juggling with work, part time study and feeding my passion, baking :)
I'm a banker. Previously I worked in a foreign bank. For almost about 2 years, I gathered as much experience & knowledge as I can. It was a good exposure working in a foreign bank. The only thing that I couldn't stand is the racism. And this foreign bank only practice conventional banking. I felt that it was such a waste of my knowledge since I was graduated in Islamic Finance.
At the same time, my dad (Papa) gave me an idea (No, he pushed me actually :P) to take up part time study on Islamic Finance. FYI - Malaysia is the 'hub' for Islamic Finance. Malaysia is the only country that really practice Islamic Finance in form & substance (close enough). So, he thought that it was a brilliant idea for me to pursue my study to a tertiary level.
And yes, it was a good idea (Parents always right, aren't they?). I met people from various backgrounds, working in the banking line / financial institutions. Most of my lecturers are not lecturers (they don't teach in university). They are industry people - who actually experiencing the banking industry for many many years. They are the experts who sits in the Shariah committee in banks. (Whoaaa!).
It was a smooth learning experience from the beginning. Alhamdulillah, I was awarded with the MyBrain15 scholarship. Well, who doesn't like free education? And in this case, it might be a factor for a turning point of my life. The only problem for me is LAZY or maybe I'm just need more supplement to eat. Classes were at night on weekdays! I felt like a walking zombie!
True enough, I was then offered a job in an established local bank (Again, parents always right). And my portfolio involved Islamic Finance. I'm still learning to handle my new portfolio. It is two different things between theory and practical. Theory seems too easy. Lols. And I'm still a part time student - InsyaAllah by next year I will complete my tertiary education. So PhD after that? Who knows!
