Pushkin Press publishes the world’s best stories, to be read and read again.

Founded in 1997, our list encompasses novels, non-fiction, crime, children’s books – everything from timeless classics to the urgent and contemporary. We publish some of the twentieth century’s most widely acclaimed and brilliant authors, including Stefan Zweig, Antal Szerb and Gaito Gazdanov, as well as award-winning current writers like the Dorthe Nors, Benjamín Labatut, Ayelet Gundar-Goshen and Perumal Murugan. Our authors have been shortlisted for the Booker Prize, the International Booker Prize, and even won the Nobel Prize.

The Pushkin Press Classics list brings you timeless storytelling by icons of literature such as Stefan Zweig, Teffi and Antal Szerb. These titles represent the best of fiction and non-fiction, hand-picked from around the globe – from Russia to Japan, France to the Americas – boasting fresh selections, new translations and stylishly designed covers. Featuring widely acclaimed authors from across the ages, as well as compelling contemporary writers, these are the world’s best stories – to be read and read again. Pushkin Press Classics also incorporates the Peter Owen and Angel Classics lists, both of which were acquired by Pushkin Press in recent years.

Pushkin Children’s Books

Pushkin Children’s brings the world’s greatest stories to young readers. From classic fantasy adventures to bold young adult novels and gorgeous picture books, our list is full of tales to enchant, inspire and open up new horizons. Some of our bestselling titles include The Murderer‘s Ape by Jakob Wegelius, Boy 87 by Ele Fountain, Dim Sum Place by X Fang, and Liz Hyder’s Bearmouth – a Waterstones Children’s Book Prize category winner. Winner of Crime Publisher of the Year at the CWA Daggers, Pushkin Vertigo presents the best crime fiction from across the world. Accessible ebooks

All books published since October 2019 are available in reflowable ePUB 3 formats. All books published since July 2025 are fully compliant with the European Accessibility Act. As part of our commitment to accessibility, we are working to meet the requirements set out in the European Accessibility Act for our backlist titles. Our team is currently working on an extensive backlist project to remediate ePUBs from our backlist to ensure they become fully compliant.
