I did it!

Today is the last day of it, Day 30: a picture

As some of you may know, I've always been a Harry Potter nerd, and Deathly Hallows Part 1 finally came out on Dvd! I went to Target today and bought the Dvd/blu-ray combo pack. Ahhh I can't even express my happiness. And I am promising that I won't be as pathetic as the time I saw it at the movie theater at midnight when I cried so loudly the whole theater could hear me sobbing. There was one point in the movie that everyone laughed at, but I couldn't hear them laughing because I was crying so hard because I knew this one sad part was coming up. But I will stop talking about that humiliating experience.

Here it is! Ahh :)

I really cannot wait for the next one. Part 2 comes out this summer. I don't even know how my friends and I will cope because we'll probably be such wrecks from waiting and releasing our excitement.

So yes I did it! It's not that special but I finally completed the 30 day challenge :)

I wish I may, I wish I might

Day 29 of the blog challenge is to talk about wishes. Well they say you can't tell your wishes because then they may not come true, so I won't tell detailed wishes. But I just wish to live a long and happy life with great opportunites. It all comes down to the goal list I made a while back.

Anyways today is the start of spring break! But what to do?? My family was going to go to Moab for the first time, but Utah's weather has been as bipolar as always, and we would have to be back by Thursday. I am challenging myself to painting the Salt Lake Temple for my painting class, so I will be working on that a lot this week. Maybe I could try cooking some new recipes? Catch up on movies? But I am just rambling again so I will close this post.

Stress

Day 28: I try not to be stressed, and I am usually content and happy. But I sometimes become stressed because I am a bit of a perfectionist, especially concerning my health. Everything has to be exact: every medicine dosage, every way I set out my pieces to dry, the amount of treatments and how long they are, etc. If I ever miss one night of meds or a treatment, I can stress out because I feel irresponsible and as if part of my life is cut off.

It really depends on the moment for when I become stressed. It can come from a lot of homework and upcoming tests and exams. My stress can come when Uncle Ronald is here (I'll just say he has major anger problems because of his brain injury), the whole house can be a wreck. I often feel as if I have to hold the house together and keep it aligned, or I feel like an adult, but the truth is it all comes down to reminding myself that everyone makes mistakes and we can always get back up, and even though I may feel older at times, it's not a problem to loosen up and have fun :)

Pets

Day 27: Pets

Wow we have had a lot of pets. First there was our black cat Sassy, who we had to get rid of because everyone was allergic to her and my lungs were sensitive to her hair. Then Alicia and I each got a kitten. I remember taking them home and loving them. Alicia had an orange cat with white stripes named Muffin, and I had a black and white one I named Berlioz from Aristocats. I remember Berlioz loved to climb in our Christmas tree and play around the house, but I had my heart broken as a 7 year old when Josh and I were being babysat, and I could hear Berlioz making weird sounds in the garage. He was still young (about a year or 2 old) I had to watch him suffer with my babysitter trying to pull me away as I watched him pass away from a heart attack. It sounds disgusting and terrifying, and it was, but it was sad to be a child watching that happen.

I loved Berlioz, but I promise I'm not some crazy cat lover. We also had a white rabbit named Marshmellow. Then we had a hampster named Gizzy, who died of a tumor on her leg. It has sad as well but kind of funny looking at it now because we had a long-ish funeral for her outside our apartment. We then had two turtles: Tiny and Josh (named after my brother). Tiny passed away as well for some reason I can't remember, but I loved that turtle Josh haha. We kept him in a large tupperware container with water, and I would hold up my artwork, and he would walk back and forth examining my drawings. We then would play music in the room, and he would stand on his hind legs and jump up and down and swing around and splash water around him. I am not kidding! haha who would ever guess a turtle could do such a thing? But then Josh (the turtle) became smelly and started growing at a fast rate. We had to let him go in the creek outside our apartment, so my mom bought me a turtle build a bear.
Then somebody in our ward let us buy a kitten from her. We thought it was a girl, so we named it Abby. Well, it turns out it was a boy. But Abby was a hoot. He would play hide and seek with us as kids, and would love to play around. We kept Abby for a while, but he moved around during the divorce, so I believe he started becoming resentful.
Later the same lady that gave us Abby said she found a puppy in a dumpster so she had to save him, so she named him Oscar, but her dad would not let her keep him. So guess who adopted Oscar into their fam? That's right, we did! He was the cutest dog alive. He loved to play and would chase tennis balls. Oscar later had to move to Arizona to stay with our sweet Grandma Wagner because it was too hard during the divorce to keep him.
Then there was our dog Smokey (chow dog). She was a sweetheart and was very loyal. Our uncle let us keep her for a while, and everyone loved her so much. But we moved back to Texas with her. Now this might sound strange, but in Texas there are critters everywhere, including opposums. I hate opposums, and it must be because of this. While Smokey was outside one night, she would not stop barking. We went to see what was the matter, and there were a pair of gleaming eyes making a hissing sound. We brought her inside, and she eventually stopped barking, so we let her outside again. We heard the fighting again as Smokey was barking, chasing the opposum around the yard, but yelp as we thought she killed the oppossum.
We were proud of her for 'trying to protect us' but worried. The next day we saw the same oppossum climbing our fence.
As the week went on, we would take Smokey on walks and lived life normally, but she started to have symptoms of rabies, so she had to be put asleep.
After a while we got adopted another cat named Marty, because he was found underneath a Walmart truck. Marty acted like a dog, chasing his tail and playing fetch. But he eventually ran away.
So yes we have had a lot of pets, but we ended up having Oscar again, and to this day he still is with us :) He is always happy, hides when there is fighting, throws tantrums and pouty faces, and acts as a doorbell when someone comes to the door, likes to be around people and always makes sure everyone feels happy, and of course begs for food.

Prime Prom

Last night was fantastic! I had the opportunity to go with the special needs group to prom, and we had such a great time. I rented a gorgeous, sparkly periwinkle blue dress that I fell in love with. This year we had a smaller group than last year (only 3 peer tutors this time, including me) but we still had a blast! We had us peer tutors, parents, the peer tutor teachers, and most importantly the special needs kids themselves come. Each of the special needs kids is so neat and has a strong, dynamic personality. We all dressed up and met up at Spaghetti Factory, then headed to the dance at the capital building.

It was finally time to dance. We all had the time of our lives shaking to songs such as the I Got a Feeling, Stanky Leg, Firework, and Shout. It was able to accept the fact that even though I didn't have a date and I was away from my friends I usually hang out with, these are the types of moments that really do matter and will create memories that will last. They deserved to have a night where they could be crazy and have fun, and I was glad we could help :)

These two kids were in our group, and were so much fun to dance with!
So in conclusion this all can contribute to Day 24 in the blog challenge, that the things that may appear to matter in high school don't matter! I was with people of all ages and backgrounds and had the time of my life :)

Vacation

Day 22: My favorite vacation was definitely when my family (including grandma :) ) and I went to Disney World for my Make-A-Wish when I was 12. It was an incredible trip! We stayed in the stunning Grand Floriddean, went to Give Kids the World a few times. And let me tell you that that place is also incredible. All the workers are volunteers who wait around a year or two on a waiting list. They have a movie theater, miniature golf, ice cream parlor, horse back riding, and so much more for kids who wish to go to Florida through a program (such as mine was Make-A-Wish. Some states are different). The kids that go are often very sick or have serious illnesses, so it can be heartbreaking to be there at the same time sometimes, but it's lifetouching. Everything is free, and the kids that go can just have fun.
But back to the actual vacation, we went to Disney World and Universal Studios for a week.We were there during hurricane season, so it was very humid and we had a lot of rain for a couple of days. But we were able to go to the front of the lines and everything was free. The entire vacation was such a blast! Make a Wish is incredible for all that they do.

Since it was a while ago I don't have any of the pics scanned onto my computer, but I can ensure that it was the most amazing trip.

April Showers

When I looked outside my window today, it was raining dippin dots!! They were bouncing off our tables and patio in our backyard. We have had some snow showers here in beautiful Salt Lake, but I am honestly ready for some spring weather.

High school seems to be picking up its pace. Prom is this Saturday, and I feel privileged to go again with the special needs group. I love those kids so much :) They really are the greatest and are so sweet and have such strong personalities.
And speaking of high school ending soon, graduation is in 2 months from today. It's crazy to think how time flies.
Anyways today is day 21, so I'm supposed to talk about my favorite city. I haven't traveled to too many places, and as much as I love Arlington, I honestly love Salt Lake. It's beautiful, we have temples we can go to that are minutes away, God's marvelous creations including stunning mountains, and wonderful people everywhere. Even though I'm not always fond of the constantly changing weather, I feel so blessed to live here :)

Nicknames and Such

Day 20: Nicknames: Hmm I really don't have that many nicknames. The one I hear most is Rach, which I like because it's simple. But my mom has one called doodle bug because I would always be drawing as a kid. Texas was also one of my nicknames for a while. I'm occassionally called Miss Rachel and often Rachael Ray, especially when people read my name wrong, and then they get excited because they think they get to meet her.  Too bad for them. But speaking of Rachael Ray, which makes me think of cooking...

A couple of weeks ago my mom came home with this cookbook, and I was stoked out of my mind because I had been going waiting months for it to come out after always going on their blog for recipes. I feel pathetic because it's for mormon moms that are crazy about cooking and I'm only in high school...

But it's available in many bookstores and has had commercials for it, been featured in magazines, and much more. It's such a good book because every recipe is delicious and not too hard to make. It's just too good! :)

Day 19: Something I miss

There are a few things I miss. I miss dance lessons, summer, my relatives in Texas and friends who graduated last year. There are a few things, but I am keeping this blog short because I have a lot of studying and things to do tonight, so I can't write much in this entry. But I will write more lata :)

Cool Whip

When my cousin Kara came over this weekend, we watched conference and stayed up late. Last night she found cool whip in our freezer, pulled it out, and scooped some out like ice cream. I had never really tried it before like that, so I gave it a try today, and oh boy that stuff is amazing! For anyone who is reading this I want you to try it (frozen) because it is so yummy and delicious! It can make you hyper enough to want to jump on your bed and whip your hair back and forth as Willow Smith did. It's heaven's symphony in your mouth. It's that good. I might just go to the store soon and get some chocolate or strawberry cool whip.

Day 18: Regrets

A time of regrets was one of those times where many things happened at once that were not under my control and were some of the hardest times I have ever been through. This time was around when I was in middle school, with some time before and after it. I don't want to go into too much detail, but it was rough. It's understandable to see why I shrunk back in fear and hurt, afraid to face the world and move on with life. It took several years and a lot of work. But I was able to get back on my feet and learn from that time period. With every situation there is always a learning process and a time period to get back on your feet, to rely on the Lord and move on. I missed out on many opportunities because I did not know how to at the time, and I had to teach myself. So yes, in a way I regret how many things I missed out on and the friendships I could have made, but I am glad I was able to move on and those trials have made me stronger.

Looking forward to

Day 17: Something I am looking forward to: There are too many things, so here are a few

-prom with the special needs group in a week. Goodness they are the best
-graduation
 -summer, which includes:
-sunshine! and being with friends all the time
-youth conference in park city and girls camp
-visiting my hometown in Texas for the first time since I moved
-and the tradish of my Texan relatives coming up and spending the 4th or 24th of July together :)
-college, not to mention living in brand new dorms. I talked to a few of my roommates for the first time this last week. I am glad my roomie and I both love to cook (she loves making Indian food, Italian dishes including homemade pasta, while I am more into food like casseroles, soups, breads, desserts and pretty much anything, so it will be good). Our other roommates sound like they are organized too I hope everything will turn out well. I am looking forward to dating more and having fun, and seeing people I haven't seen since they graduated along with my friends in high school that will go to BYU. It will be hard to stay on task at times but I will try my hardest :)
