Sunday

1. D. punctured one of her tonsils when she bumped into I. while sucking on a wooden chopstick.

2. When I said "I love you" to P., he said it back to me (multiple times, in his own little-kid way).

D.'s first haircut ever!

Random pics at Halloween-time

Image I LOVE this picture. She wanted to wear parts of her Daddy's "costume."

Image This is an extrememly girly stance for Darth Maul of the Sith.

I'm so glad she wanted something so simple. I'm glad that she was ok with just buying this swimsuit (even if I'm not a fan of the Dora stuff on it).

My daughter as Darth Maul

I can't believe we actually put this together. I really doubted we could do this. We could not have done it without the cloak, which my mom SO GENEROUSLY made despite the fact that she was really against this costume choice.

Image This was the last time (out of 4) that I applied the make-up and it looked worse and worse each time. Oh, well. I'm just glad I'll never have to do this again. ("But what if I want to be Darth Maul again when I'm a teenager?" "Then you can put on the make-up yourself.")

My mom was telling me how Edward said I. only likes Star Wars because she's been brainwashed since birth. I agree that she was heavily influenced (mostly by David) when she was tiny, but she really, truly likes Star Wars of her own accord, and anyone who knows her could see that. Apparently Edward wondered if she wanted to be Darth Maul because I wanted her to be Darth Maul (that's ridiculous by the way, I even tried convincing her out of it) and my mom said that originally she wondered the same thing. Without my knowledge she had asked I. a couple of months ago this question, to which I. replied that she wanted it because SHE WANTED IT. I said to my mom, "Since when has I. done anything just because I wanted it anyway?"

So I told I. about these discussions the other day and she was not happy about their insinuations.

She told me the day-before-yesterday how scary Darth Maul was and how she freaked herself out looking in the mirror. I asked, "Then why did you want to be Darth Maul for Halloween?" She told me that she wanted to be him because he was scary, and she thought that if she was him for Halloween she wouldn't be scared of him anymore. I was surprised and impressed by how thoroughly she had thought this out. And in that case, I'm very glad she had this opportunity.

Image October 19, 2007 Friends at our Halloween Party (I can't believe I actually did it)

Lessons I've recently learned:

Just because your kids can read doesn't mean they should read certain things.

Telling your kids that they weren't listening to you will only encourage them to say that you weren't listening to them when they were trying to tell you something over and over again.

Keep cell phones away from babies because they can buy 3 songs on it (actually, the same song 3 times) at $2.50 each (not including tax), and then set that annoying song as your ringtone. (I mean, Soulja Boy, for goodness' sake)
