Sickness...Part 2

This has been one crazy week at the Rainwater house. I was finally able to go back to work on Wednesday and wsas definitely not completely up to teacher standards. I still wasn't eating very much of anything, but couldn't miss any more work. It is so much more work to MISS work than to actually be there. By Friday I was doing a lot better and felt almost totally back to normal. We couldn't believe that David had made it through the week without getting sick!...turned out not to be the case exactly.

On Friday night we stayed in and watched a really good movie (Temple Grandin) and even slept in on Saturday morning. I left Saturday morning to meet up with Mandy, Dianna, and Leah to have a Mary K make-over (which was SO fun). We got to have any "look" that we wanted and also got to take home great prizes! Thanks Mandy!

By the time I got home around 1:00, David was curled up in the couch feeling miserable. The stomach flu had finally come knocking on David's door. He was miserable from basically Saturday afternoon until late Sunday afternoon. He is currently sitting up, but that's about it. Poor thing...it's hard to be married to a person who constantly brings home kids' germs.

While David rested/slept, I worked around the house to make sure all offending germs were killed. There were no worthy pictures of David or I this week. You don't want to see how we've been looking this week actually. Therefore, here are the animals. Granny, the picture of Sooie is especially for you. She is still doing great. :)

Sickness

Yesterday I faithfully blogged the end of last week and the weekend. I had high hopes for this week...little did I know I was going to get SUPER sick early in the a.m. on Monday. I woke up very suddenly at 1:30 a.m. this morning and knew within three minutes that I had the stomach flu. It was a miserable night. David was wonderful and was up with me most of the night and STILL went in to the clinic early this morning. Thus, I am home from work yet again and have managed to eat 6 saltine crackers. Yeah for me. Pray that David doesn't get sick and can avoid this terrible thing.

Snow, snow, and more snow

I feel like we live in Colorado! We ended up getting more snow this week and I had ANOTHER snow day on Thursday. I only worked two days this week! The snow started on Wednesday at about 1:30 and just didn't stop. The drive home from work was definitely sketchy and I was glad that David and I made it home safely. I had a snow day on Thursday and the clinic didn't open until 11:00 a.m. David worked super hard shoveling the drive-way and I am so thankful that he did. When we moved to Kansas City I had no idea that snow shovels were so important. Thanks for the shovel Tripp...it really came in handy last winter and this winter too! We ended up getting almost 8 inches.

Image

I feel like I have hardly worked in January and by the snow day on Thursday, I was looking for stuff to do! Sooie liked looking out the window at the snow...

Image

Because the weather has been so unbelievably cold, Deuce has been speding a ton of time inside. We are working hard to keep up with the hair and David thought that this might help...

Image

Totally kidding. This is an old undershirt that we were going to save for a rag and we thought it was funny to put it on Deuce. Poor dog.

On Friday night we had a date night planned and went out to eat and came back to the house to enjoy a movie. This picture is terrible, but it was our only sad attempt at documenting the night. It was wonderful to have a proclaimed date night and to talk about all of the big decisions that we have coming up with school.

Image

On Saturday I went to church for Lisa's baby shower. Here are the Sunday School girls that were there...I have to apologize to Leah and Wanda. They were totally not ready for this picture, but this is what you get when a kid takes your group shot I suppose. It sure was fun to hang out with everybody though!

Image

Last night we headed up to Drew and Kristin's house to hang out for the evening. It was wonderful. We talked about how far the guys have come in school and how much things will change as they continue. Great dentist friends...

Image

Today is a pretty gloomy day and we are in the thick of winter. I find myself already yearning for spring time. This week is more of the same. I go to class on Tuesday, David has choir on Wednesday, and we are having some friends from Sunday School over for dinner on Thursday.

Happy MLK Day

We have had a great three day weekend! Unfortunately, we didn't take a single picture! On Friday night we met Jason and Jessica, Matt and Dianna, and Jonathan and Mandy for a movie. It was at the biggest movie theater we had ever seen. We just couldn't get over how many people the theater could seat...600! I don't remember ever being in a theater that big in Arkansas! It was great to hang out with everyone though.

On Saturday morning David went with all the guys from Sunday School to help Mark and Lisa Schock move. They're little girl Eliana is still in the hospital, but the guys were able to get all of their stuff moved to their new house.

Saturday afternoon was filled with a lot of relaxing which included reading, TV, hot chocolate, and cross stitching. On Saturday night we went to Kona Grill with Katherine and Jay and then back to their house to watch a movie. Instead of a movie we ended up watching Miss America. Miss Arkansas got 2nd place! We couldn't believe it and cheered like it was a football game every time they called her name. It was such a fun time hanging out and talking with Katherine and Jay. We are really thankful for them for a lot of reasons, but one major one is that they can relate to the big decisions that we have to make regarding school/moving/etc. Thanks for hanging out guys!

Our church was hosting an "Answers in Genesis" conference on Sunday and today, so there were tons of people at church Sunday morning and Sunday night for it. My principal canceled our in-service day on Tuesday and had all the teachers go to the conference. It was really informative.

Our day off today couldn't have been better, even though the weather was really gloomy. We pretty much did nothing except hang around the house. We worked on trying to plan a Spring Break trip since we have the same Spring Break this year. David heads back to the clinic tomorrow and I have one more day off. It's a good thing because my class starts tomorrow and I have two papers due that I have absolutely not even started. Yikes. Why do today what you can put off until tomorrow? :) There was no way I was working on those papers when David had the day off too. This week is busy with school and the upcoming weekend is filled with fun stuff. Sorry for the long post with no pictures!

Let it Snow!

Image

The snow has come! I got really tired of snow last year, but right now we are welcoming it with open arms! It started snowing last night around midnight, and as I write this with a cup of hot chocolate, it is STILL snowing. I didn't have to go to work today (another reason I love teaching) and David got sent home at 2:30. After he got home we ventured out to have a little fun in the snow with Deuce.

He didn't do anything typically silly in the snow or anything. He kind-of just ran around jumping and biting at the snow. We got about 6 inches at our house and David worked forever shoveling the driveway. He did a great job. As I type this I am watching the news and she just said that tomorrow morning the wind chill will be 20 below. I don't really know what to do about that except pray that we won't have school again! :) Tonight we cuddling down with chili, hot chocolate, brownies, and the National Championship Game/The Bachelor. :)

Snow headed to Little Rock

Mom and Dad were in town this weekend! They got here around 5:00 on Friday night and we all went to eat at Constantino's Westport. The food seemed weird at first but it turned out to be delicious. We would recommend it to everyone. We're looking forward to going back in the summer so we can hang out on the patio part.

We had a lazy morning on Saturday and then went to the Plaza to eat at "Ingredient." We spent the afternoon at the Legends and just hanging out. We also bought our first baby gate...no, not for a baby...it's for our furry child (Deuce) :). Mom and me cooked homemade lasagna and brownies on Saturday night...

We played Bananagrams after dinner while watching some football game.

Mom and Dad left this morning before church because there is actually some snow headed toward Little Rock! Yep, snow in Arkansas. I am intently praying for a snow day here tomorrow as well. :) We're looking forward to a good week!

The Hogs...

Sometimes, it's hard to be a Razorback fan. It's not like we didn't know that already going into the Sugar Bowl. When you have one team that your entire state loves, defeat tastes even more bitter. Jay and Katherine came over to cheer the Hogs on on Tuesday night. We were beyond pumped. We were completely stoked. Katherine and I wore our gear and tried to put on our meanest faces.

Image

The guys were ready too.
Image

This picture comes from right before our TOTAL joy of a blocked punt and having the ball on the 20 with one minute to go, and right before the complete despair of a game-losing interception. So, the Hogs lost. We went to bed angry, but decided it's better to go to the Sugar Bowl and lose than to not go at all.

So now what? The same thing we always do when things don't turn out...there's always next year! We love to be Razorbacks...even in defeat.

FYI...if you happen to follow the blog "Thorpe Thoughts," Katherine and I's pictures are basically the exact same.

Mom and Dad come to town to tomorrow to hang out for the weekend!

Happy New Year!

Somehow, 2011 is already here! Unbelievable. What a great year 2010 has been. David and I were talking and realized a lot has happened in one year...here's a short "year in review."

1. Both younger brothers graduate from the UofA..Tripp starts to work at Wal-Mart and Ben moves to Atlanta, GA.

2. David passed round 1 of boards.

3. David began working in the clinic.

4. John and Sarah announce they are pregnant!

5. We celebrated 2 years of marriage!

6. I worked at the Barstow School for my second summer, began my third year of teaching, and began teaching 2nd grade for the 2nd year!

This is a very short list, but it's the stuff that stood out in David and I's minds.

Last night we had a great time with friends at Many and Jonathan's house for New Years. Beforehand we went and ate Mongolian BBQ with Matt and Dianna. We ate SO much and then headed out to Jonathan and Mandy's house. We played games and just hung out until midnight, when we welcomed 2011.

~Hopefully me graduating with my Masters in Education in May.
~David starting his FOURTH year of dental school...Woohoo!
~Me starting my FOURTH year of teaching...possibly in 2nd grade, possibly in another grade! Uh oh!
~Deciding if David will try to specialize or become a general dentist...yikes big decision!
~The birth of our first nephew...Shep.
~Working at the Barstow school again.
~Celebrating our 3rd year of marriage!

I'm sure there will be lots to report this year. Thank you to all of our friends and family for such a wonderful 2010.
