28 years old and 5 months old

We had a big weekend here around our house. On Friday David turned 28 years old and little miss turned 5 months. For David's birthday Abigail and I went down town to eat lunch with David and we had a great time at Cashew. Abigail "gave" David a mug with her hand prints on it that said "I love Daddy." I had taken her down to Paint, Glaze and Fire earlier this week and done the prints and painted the words on the mug myself. We also got a free "foot tile" that I gave to David as a coaster for the mug. I gave David a "golf" birthday with lots of golf gear. On Friday night we went out to dinner at a place called Sarturo's near our house. It was good and Abigail was nice enough to sleep through most of dinner. This is about our 10th birthday of David's to celebrate together (we missed one I believe). We first celebrated on David's 18th...I'm so thankful to have him, celebrate him, and love him for all his birthday's to come.

Little girl had her five month "birthday" on Friday too. Here are some pictures I took that day. I love doing these pictures and she's turned into such a little ham for the camera.

Here are some stats on little miss Abigail Jane from this month:

1. Our daily schedule includes 5-6 feedings. The last feeding is breast milk from a bottle given by David.

2. She now takes her last feeding sometime between 7:00 and 7:30 and is asleep between 7:30 and 8:00. She will

3. Abigail sleeps unswaddled and under a blanket, with a passy. When I check on her before bed she almost never has it in.

4. She usually wakes up in the morning sometime between 6:00-7:00 a.m. I hate the 6:00 a.m. days will usually force her to sleep longer by going in and giving her her passy back and turning on the sleep sheep. :)

5. About every other night I have to go in at some point in the night and put her passy back in. I can't really complain too much though, because she goes right back to sleep...as do I. Sometimes I don't even feel like I wake up when I do it and feel like it was a dream the next morning.

6. Abigail tried rice cereal at 4 1/2 months and likes it ok. She's still not totally sure what to do with it. We started oatmeal yesterday (technically in her fifth month so I shouldn't blog it but oh well) and she seems to like it a little bit more. She can pretty easily put down a bowl of either rice cereal or oatmeal with some hard work by Mommy.

7. I am giving her a small amount of oatmeal in the mornings after she nurses and some between her 5:00 feeding and bedtime bottle. Every day she gets better at it. I think I'll wait about 2 more weeks to start other foods.

8. Abigail rolled over this month! She did it on Friday morning March 29 and David and I both got to see her very first one. Somehow she did it right before David left for work and we were both with her in her room. She now rolls from her tummy to her back EVERY time I put her in tummy time. Makes tummy a challenge. She also essentially only rolls over her right shoulder. Don't know why. :)

9. She is pretty much too big for her 3 month clothes. I still have a couple three month dresses that she can wear, so I am thankful for that. Gap clothes in 3-6 month fit her PERFECTLY. She is wearing 6 month stuff in Carter's and I can't wait to put her in more summer clothes and have her cute chubby arms and legs out.

10. I don't really know her weight right now. I am going to take her to the scale at Shawnee Mission next week and my prediction is around 14 pounds.

11. No teeth yet but lots of drool!

12. Her hair is coming in and David and I have been surprised at how light it is.

13. This girl LOVES her feet. Loves to look at them, hold them, and put them in her mouth.

14. We're working on sitting and she can do pretty good front to back, but when she drifts sideways it's all over.

15. She's quite the talker this month and loves blowing bubbles, making those bubble sounds, just screaming and of course laughing. She will get really excited about something, throw her arms out, gasp, smile and jerk her head around like it's the best thing ever. She does it when David gets home from work.

We love her more each day.

Here's a random picture of Sooie cat for all her adoring fans...

Mom's Visit and Rice Cereal!

This week was really good. David traveled to Chicago on Thursday morning for a dental conference, which he ended up having a great time at, and Mom came up to hang out with Abigail and I. We spent the majority of our time just hanging out and shopping up at the Legends. Mom is so good to treat me when she comes to town and this time she treated Abigail too! We hit the Carter's outlet hard and basically got Abigail set up for spring. The outfits are so cute and it's starting to be a little bit warmer here, so I can't wait to have her chubby little arms and legs out more. It was unbelievably fun having Mom here and participating with me in the day to day stuff.

After David came home on Saturday night, we decided to go ahead and start rice cereal. Our pediatrician recommended waiting until about 4 1/2 months for rice cereal, 5 months for oatmeal, and then 5 1/2-6 months for other baby foods. We really had no clue what she would think about it, but she did really good! The first night I made it really runny and it got everywhere, but Abigail seemed to have a good time and actually swallowed SOME of it. Some being the important word there. She did start opening her mouth for it near the end and tonight she did even better. I made it fairly thick tonight, which she seemed to like a little bit better. Here are some pictures from rice cereal, night one. We didn't take any more shots tonight, but it was significantly less messy.

Mom outfitted us with a Johnny Jump-Up as well, which we've been testing out. Abigail likes it pretty good and so does Deuce.

We're looking forward to another good week with some possible rain for our much-needed dry ground. We've also got some travel to Little Rock coming up that we're excited about.
