Easter

On Easter Sunday we went and ate lunch with my parents and Tripp and Kara at the club. It was a great and Abigail was well-behaved. Here are pictures from the day.

17 Months and David's 29th

This weekend was a busy one! I'm going to divide it into two posts so it doesn't seem quite as overwhelming for me to get done. :) This weekend Tripp and Kara and Ben and Abby all came home for Calvin Vaughan's tool shower, it was David's 29th birthday, and it was also Easter weekend! On Friday I took Abigail over to see Tripp and Kara real quick before heading to Mike and Kathy's for dinner and a little birthday celebration for David. It was great to spend some time with Ben and Abby and talk about the wedding planning too.

On Saturday morning we gave David some presents and then headed to get donuts together.

After doing a little shopping at an estate sale, we went and spent a little bit more time with Tripp and Kara before heading home to work in our yard. David is building us two flower beds from scratch that we desperately need and they look so good.

Abigail was 17 months on Saturday as well. I've decided I'll stop the monthly updates at 18 months, so this will be my second to last one. Here are some recent iPhone pictures...

17 Months:

1. Clothing: some 12 month pants, 12-18 months, a couple 24 month items

2. Diapers: size 4

3. Schedule:
7:00 Wake up
7:30 Breakfast
10:00 Snack
12:00 Lunch
12:45-3:00 Nap
3:30 Snack
6:00 Dinner
7:30-8:00 Bed

4. New words: I think the only new words we've added to the bunch since my last post are "uh-oh" and "bye bye." She tries to say a lot of other things, and we usually know what she wants.

5. She gives out SO many kisses these days. When we say bye to Daddy, hello to Daddy, bye to any grandparent, and sometimes just for fun. Abigail just loves to give kisses.

6. Abigail is a climber. Big time. I constantly find her atop things that I had no idea she could even consider climbing on. Keeps me on my toes and my nerves on edge. :)

7. Passy weaning: We are currently working on getting rid of the passy. It's not something she's attached to in her everyday life, but she has always slept with one. We no longer use one at night and that transition went so smoothly. I'm working on nap-time and I usually cave and give it to her, but we're making progress. I cut a hole in the end of one, and she has been falling asleep without it in her mouth the last couple days, but usually pops it in sometime mid-nap.

8. Deuce and Sooie: ANIMAL LOVER. She loves them more than they love her I believe, but they're both very tolerant.

9. Tantrums: We're experiencing them and doing our best. :)

10. We just got a little kitchen for her and she loves to bring the telephone to me for me to talk on. She will also use her vacuum around the house while I'm vacuuming. Mommy's little helper. :)

Wye Mountain Daffodils

Yesterday was Impact Little Rock and David signed us up for the dental aspect of the day. I went as his assistant and we pulled teeth all morning. I was so nervous about getting queasy and sick to my stomach, but I did really well according to David. He, of course, pulled all the teeth that needed to come out flawlessly, and I just wanted to be a competent assistant who didn't get sick. I watched carefully, tried to remember that they couldn't feel anything, and even patted a couple shoulders and held a couple hands. It was a fun morning and I loved participating in that way. David has a great skill and we can donate our time and really give some people relief who are in pain. As a side note, I DID get queasy with the last patient, but I got a drink of water and pushed through. David is a champ.

After Impact Little Rock we decided to take Abigail to her first trip to Wye Mountain to get some pictures in the daffodils. I'm glad we went yesterday because it looked like this would be the last weekend for them. Abigail loved it and we got some great pictures.

Trip to KC

Last weekend we were able to take a trip together back up to Kansas City to see friends. We didn't have a specific reason for going except that we wanted to see people. On Thursday night I picked David up from work and we headed to Fayetteville where we spent the night at "Hotel de Tripp and Kara." We rolled out as early as we could on Friday and drove straight to HCA to see all my teacher friends. I miss them so much and it was great to walk around the school again, let everyone see Abigail and to get to hug some of my old students.

After going to the school we went to Jonathan and Mandy's house so that Abigail could take a nap. Joelle was sleeping as well so we got to have some quiet grown-up time until they woke up. On Friday night we had planned a little get-together with some dear friends. Adam and Becca graciously offered to host and get pizza so that we didn't have to have the burden of getting kicked out of a restaurant with all these kids. It was SUCH a nice time and we loved getting to talk with everyone. It felt like we had never left.

On Saturday morning is was so great to be staying with JJ and Mandy because the girls were relaxed, we got a great nights sleep and so did Abigail, and they had all the baby goods we could possibly need. Thanks so much for letting us stay with y'all. We can't wait to meet new baby Jones soon!

After some shopping at the Legends and lunch with JJ and Mandy, it was nap time again, so we had a little more time to relax before heading out again. After Abigail woke up we went to Brett and Sarah's house to meet their sweet little girl, Evie! Sarah and I taught 2nd grade together at HCA and our girls are almost exactly one year apart. It was a really special visit.

On Saturday night we went out to eat at Granite City with Pastor Steve and Mary. We LOVE them. LOVE THEM. Like at ton. Pastor Steve is now retiring, so we were especially glad to get to spend some time with them and hear him preach again in person. Very uncharacteristic of Abigail, as soon as we got to their house, Pastor Steve took Abigail from David and she was totally willing to let him carry her!

Of course Sunday morning was spent at LBC. While we love living in Little Rock for so many reasons, there are things we miss in Kansas City, one of which is our LBC church family, so it was great to be back and say hello to everyone.

Once the service was over we were fairly anxious to get on the road, so Abigail enjoyed her first McDonald's happy meal. She was pretty happy about the nuggets.

On the way home we made a pit stop in Springfield to see our great friends Nick and Ali and their new baby, Levi. I don't have a picture from that, but we're spending a weekend at the lake with them this summer, so I'm sure I'll have plenty of pictures from that. It was a wonderful trip...KC friends...we miss y'all and it was beyond great to see you.
