It's been a while since I gave any facts on sweet Abigail, so I thought today might be a nice time to do it.
1. She will be two years and eight months old in a matter of only 10 days, which actually kind of makes me sad to just type. It turns out you really can't make time so down.
2. So active! She can go and go and go and still manage to keep a fairly good attitude when she's tired. When David comes home from work she really cranks it up and and will play until we make her go to bed...at which point she usually says, "I no go night night."
3. Our day...she is usually up around 7:30, by which time I have already fed and changed her sister. Then she has some time to watch cartoons and play while I get ready and her sister takes a nap. In order to get a good nap she needs a fair amount of activity, so we usually try to go somewhere after Emma wakes up. She goes to gymnastics on Wednesdays and Mother's Day Out on Thursdays. She is usually down for nap around 1:00 and will sleep for two full hours. Bedtime is slowly being pushed back as she gets older, but still needs a nap. These days we shoot for lights out at 8:30. She'll usually roll around up there until 9:00.
4. Of course she is potty trained, but still naps and sleeps over night in a pull-up...but typically wakes up wet. That's a battle for another day.
5. Talking: she talks SO MUCH. Her vocabulary grows every day. I can usually understand what she is saying and if I can't, she'll try and say it in another way. I wish I could bottle up her little voice and replay it over and over. She will say the most hilarious and surprising things and repeats EVERYTHING that we say. When David gets home from work she will yell, "I go to garage door! Be right back ma!" That's another thing, she calls me "ma." No my favorite but I'm embracing it. Some of my favorite things that she says...
"I love my sister."
"Oh, my sweet Emma."
"Love you Momma/Daddy"
"Don't worry Momma, I fix it!"---I can't fix anything by the way...she insists on waiting for David.
"Good morning Emma!"
"Be right back Momma!"
6. Abigail loves to sing and knows so many songs. Hearing her precious singing voice makes my heart happy. She sings, "Zaccheus," "Deep and Wide," "If you're happy and you know it," "Jesus loves me," "Jesus loves the little children," "Bless the Lord oh my Soul,"The B-I-B-L-E," "The A-B-C's" and many many more. I LOVE hearing her sing and she typically hums throughout her day.
7. She's wearing 2T clothes, but can still fit in some of her 18 month shorts, which is great because she wore them last summer too. Shoes are size 5/6 and her hair is long enough for me to do lots of fun things with like braids!
8. David is now reading straight though her Jesus Storybook Bible with her at night. She listens intently most nights and can remember surprising details. Her favorite stories are of course Noah, Jonah, David and Goliath, and the unlikely favorite, Jesus asleep on the Sea of Galilee. She will help David tell the story. Afterward it's time to pray and she now wants to do it herself. So David helps her and she usually starts, "Dear God..." and then thanks him for all her people. Precious and sweet and heartfelt. Lord, help her come to know you early.
9. This is a random update, but we are still waiting on her two-year molars.
10. She loves to slide, roll, flip, be held upside down, hug her sister, ride on daddy's shoulders, take baths, pick out her own pajamas/shoes/shirts, and is becoming quite independent. Everything is "No, I do it Mommy."
We love you Abigail Jane!
