Abigail Update

It's been a while since I gave any facts on sweet Abigail, so I thought today might be a nice time to do it.

1. She will be two years and eight months old in a matter of only 10 days, which actually kind of makes me sad to just type. It turns out you really can't make time so down.

2. So active! She can go and go and go and still manage to keep a fairly good attitude when she's tired. When David comes home from work she really cranks it up and and will play until we make her go to bed...at which point she usually says, "I no go night night."

3. Our day...she is usually up around 7:30, by which time I have already fed and changed her sister. Then she has some time to watch cartoons and play while I get ready and her sister takes a nap. In order to get a good nap she needs a fair amount of activity, so we usually try to go somewhere after Emma wakes up. She goes to gymnastics on Wednesdays and Mother's Day Out on Thursdays. She is usually down for nap around 1:00 and will sleep for two full hours. Bedtime is slowly being pushed back as she gets older, but still needs a nap. These days we shoot for lights out at 8:30. She'll usually roll around up there until 9:00.

4. Of course she is potty trained, but still naps and sleeps over night in a pull-up...but typically wakes up wet. That's a battle for another day.

5. Talking: she talks SO MUCH. Her vocabulary grows every day. I can usually understand what she is saying and if I can't, she'll try and say it in another way. I wish I could bottle up her little voice and replay it over and over. She will say the most hilarious and surprising things and repeats EVERYTHING that we say. When David gets home from work she will yell, "I go to garage door! Be right back ma!" That's another thing, she calls me "ma." No my favorite but I'm embracing it. Some of my favorite things that she says...
"I love my sister."
"Oh, my sweet Emma."
"Love you Momma/Daddy"
"Don't worry Momma, I fix it!"---I can't fix anything by the way...she insists on waiting for David.
"Good morning Emma!"
"Be right back Momma!"

6. Abigail loves to sing and knows so many songs. Hearing her precious singing voice makes my heart happy. She sings, "Zaccheus," "Deep and Wide," "If you're happy and you know it," "Jesus loves me," "Jesus loves the little children," "Bless the Lord oh my Soul,"The B-I-B-L-E," "The A-B-C's" and many many more. I LOVE hearing her sing and she typically hums throughout her day.

7. She's wearing 2T clothes, but can still fit in some of her 18 month shorts, which is great because she wore them last summer too. Shoes are size 5/6 and her hair is long enough for me to do lots of fun things with like braids!

8. David is now reading straight though her Jesus Storybook Bible with her at night. She listens intently most nights and can remember surprising details. Her favorite stories are of course Noah, Jonah, David and Goliath, and the unlikely favorite, Jesus asleep on the Sea of Galilee. She will help David tell the story. Afterward it's time to pray and she now wants to do it herself. So David helps her and she usually starts, "Dear God..." and then thanks him for all her people. Precious and sweet and heartfelt. Lord, help her come to know you early.

9. This is a random update, but we are still waiting on her two-year molars.

10. She loves to slide, roll, flip, be held upside down, hug her sister, ride on daddy's shoulders, take baths, pick out her own pajamas/shoes/shirts, and is becoming quite independent. Everything is "No, I do it Mommy."

We love you Abigail Jane!

This month...

1. Weight: 14 lb 12 oz--78%
Height: 25 1/4 in--87%
Head: 16 in--44%

2. As you can see, our girl is BIG. I love it. She's a great eater and we will probably start rice cereal as this next month comes to a close. I think I'll start it after we get home from the beach. For now she nurses 6 times a day, but when we start rice cereal I'll drop one. Maybe even before...we shall see.

3. Daily schedule:
7:00-Up, eat, play
8:00-8:30 Down for nap
10:00 up to eat and play
11:30-12:30 nap
12:30 Up to eat and play
1:00 Eat
1:30 Down for nap
3:00-3:30 up to eat
3:30-5:00 play
5:00-6:00 nap
6:00 Eat
8:00 Bottle and down for the night!

4. Emma will now take a bottle, but mostly from me unfortunately. When I take Abigail to gymnastics on Wednesday mornings my mom watches Emma and she has had some success. We think that it has to do with me being here. If I'm here, she wants it from me, and therefore refuses David at night because I am here. We shall see if she continues to improve. I'm encouraged that it's not the bottle itself... she has no problem with it in that sense.

5. Diapers: size 2, about to be size 3 as soon as we get through the current box. She is literally busting out of them.

6. Clothing: 3-6 months, 6 months, 6-9 months, 9 months--this is really working out well because Emma is able to wear all of Abigail's old summer clothes, even though Abigail wore them when she was 7+ months.

7. Emma rolled over from her belly to her back this month!

8. She LOVES chewing on her hands and is getting better and better at grabbing things and putting them in her mouth.

9. Emma LOVES her sister, even though Abigail routinely showers her with probably more love than she can deal with. Abigail will sing and Emma will smile and kick her legs. I love it.

10. I adore her belly laugh and she is quite ticklish!

11. Emma is so easy going if she is well-rested. She rides along, plays, smiles and is generally the sweetest little girl around.

12. Everyone thinks she look exactly like David...but I DO see some me in there. ;)

13. After she takes the bottle from me at night I will sit her up and she talks and talks to me. It's the cutest thing because it's always kind of gargly because she has milk in her throat.

14. Her hair may be coming in a little bit darker than Abigail's did.

15. Emma loves a bath and kicks her legs furiously.

4th of July

This 4th of July was busy but really fun! Ben and Abby came to town, so we spent Friday at Mike and Kathy's house. It rained most of the day, but the kids still got to swim a little bit and Sarah, Abby and I got to go gets pedicures. Abigail and Shepherd got to do fireworks and Abigail had a blast...until her arm got burned. :(

On Saturday we got up and left bright and early for the lake. Mom and Dad and Tripp and Kara and Sutton were already there and we were excited. The lake with babies isn't exactly very relaxing, but we had a really fun time. Emma wasn't too pleased about missing her lunch time nap for the boat, but we pulled it together after getting back to the trailer. We had a nice dinner on Saturday night and Abigail got to stay up late, go out on the boat, and watch the fireworks. She LOVED it. Every time one would go off she would yell, "another one!"
