Welcoming Sweet Layla

I can't believe she's here! This pregnancy went by fast at times but mostly it was just taking forever. So many things that I was not planning on. The first being having to switch Dr.'s so close to the end. Luckily some girls in Eric's office had used this guy and had a good experience. When I had my first appointment I did the same thing I did in Carson, try and convince him to let me go as early as I did with my last c-section babies. Apperently there is a new rule about having to go until 39 weeks. It used to be 10 days. And some how Dresden was 12 days early and Nora was 14 days early. I was not happy that they weren't listening to me. So it was set for the 14th and I thought for sure I was going to have an 8 pound baby. It was only 6 days before my due date and I was measuring ahead anyway.

I had an appt on Monday the 11th and it was uneventful. I went home so uncomfortable and ready to get this baby out. But my moms flight was already scheduled for Friday (she had her retirement party on Thursday the day I was scheduled for) so I needed baby to stay in. That night we decided to clean the toy room and the rest of the upstairs before going to bed. Around 7pm I was pretty sure I peed my pants. I thought it was weird but I changed and went back to cleaning. It happened again and I started to get worried it was my water. It wasn't a huge gush so I wasn't sure. We got the kids in bed and I felt like I was just leaking the rest of the night. We went to bed and by 4am I was starting to have contractions. They just got closer and closer as the morning went on and painful as well. (It's been a long time since I've had contractions) We got the kids off to school and I just thought I would be having contractions for a day or so and Eric was convinced I was going to have the baby that day. I had heard people say they had contractions for days, but by about 8am they were so close together and painful I called the Dr. They said head to the hospital of course. The night before I decided to get my bags together just in case, and I'm so happy I did. I called Stacy to watch Nora, and Eric called his office to cancel for the day and we were off!

By the time we got there the contractions were pretty intense! I could barely walk and they had to get me a wheelchair to take me to the labor and delivery floor. That was a first for me. We got checked in and I was so anxious and nervous. I was still a little frustrated that the Dr hadn't listened to me about going early, especially with a c-section. One of the few good things about c-sections is that you get to just walk in...pain free and have everything planned and ready at home. They were calling it an urgent c-section and not an emergency at this point. Although I thought they could have been a little quicker about things! ;)
Once I got in the room and had my spinal I was feeling much better! Then I was just excited and thing went super fast. Eric barely got in there and the Dr. was already cutting. I especially loved my Dr. because he kept referring to me as thin, and lean and saying how easy it was to get her out! :) The feeling of her coming out is so crazy and I couldn't wait to hear her cry. I was also dying to hear how much she weighed. I was shocked to hear 7lbs 4oz! That is now our smallest baby. She was just the cutest thing ever with the chubbiest cheeks!
I don't remember much of the after part. I remember being really tired and trying to stay awake when people would talk to me and also throwing up a lot! But since I hadn't eaten there wasn't much there. I could barely hold her I was so out of it. But I sure loved feeding her and staring at her cute little face. I was instantly in love and so so happy she was here!
We went in with two names. We have always had a for sure name or at least one we liked more with the other kids. We literally liked them both the same. It was between Emma and Layla. We decided to go with Emma and told the nurses all day it was Emma. Eric went home to take care of the kids and then was coming back in the morning. When he came back we both talked about how Emma just didn't feel right when we said it out loud.  We seriously debated for hours and finally decided to change it to Layla. It felt better and we made an announcement. The kids liked that name better and we were worried there would be a million Emma's in her class. (Kinda like Ava)
I felt really unprepared so there arent as many pictures as I would like but we just enjoyed the moments, and I got a few of her before leaving. Nothing quite like the quiet hospital to snuggle a newborn.

Ava's field day

9.19.2013
We were a little surprised to learn about field day being in September when we moved here. They said it's because of the wheather. Which I was not happy to hear considering it was not that warm for September anyway. I was still having a hard time with Colorado. I think mostly because i just missed our old life. Moving stinks!
Lucky for us it ended up on the day Eric has off so he got to come too. Ava loved having us all there. We watched all the events and then ate lunch together outside. Ava did great and was so happy to win a ribbon for each event. She even won first place on the "shoe kick". That one was new to me! :)
We love our outgoing little Ava and had such a fun day with her.
