Swimming

Lucky for us we met a cute couple in our ward that has a pool as part of their apartments. We were able to go swimming there a few times last week. Ava is becoming quite the fish! I am so proud of her. She is swimming like a pro with no water wings!! She is even jumping in the deep end with no wings. Everyday she asks if we can go swimming. And Dresden loves it just as much. He has no fear and loves to jump in like the big kids. I had my camera one of the days and got a few of the kids.

Recent

These are just a few random pictures from the last couple weeks.

ImageSo funny! My mom had her kindle while she was here. I caught Ava trying to be just like grandma, glasses and all!

We love that we get to see bunnies in our back yard! The kids had fun chasing them. The other day we were stopping at a light and saw a cute little mommy duck with her two baby ducks behind her crossing the road. Ava and I were pretty excited. She wanted to call grandma and tell her right away.

firefly catching/smore party

We were invited to a cute little firefly catching/smore party a couple weeks ago. How cute is that! It may have been the hottest day since we have been here! But it was so fun roasting marshmallows, especially with all the different toppings! There was a huge old slide there and a little monkey bar thing so the kids played on them for awhile. They were so sweaty, actually we ALL were. We brought little jars for the kids to try and catch fireflies but were were so busy getting dirty and wet they didn't have a chance to catch them. But it was sure neat to watch them light up all over the place. I wish it hadn't been to dark to take pictures at the end. Both kids were soaked and covered in sand! Like rode home almost naked soaked!
We love the new friends we are making. I met another photographer in the ward who is awesome! She has the same camera as me and informed me that is is probably my lenses that are making my pictures suck! Yeah I'm so glad I met her cause I was so close to selling it! It was a super fun night and I did get a few pictures despite my crapy lens. :)

4th of July activities

We had a pretty fun 4th considering we have been in our house for less than a week. First we heard about a neighborhood parade that was going on on Saturday. So we decorated the kids bikes and and headed over to the park. The kids thought it was awesome. Ava was loving being dressed up and riding her bike down the road. Poor Dresden was bringing up the rear. His little 4-wheeler is so slow! It's definitely time for a big boy bike! After riding around the neighborhood they had juice and cookies (best cookies ever) for everyone at the park. It's nice that park is walking distance from our house. And one day when it's not 100 degrees we will go there again!

For some reason the big city fireworks here were being done on Saturday. So we headed to a big field to watch them. The kids were into it for about 2 seconds and then they were all over the place. They still had fun running around together though. And somehow we lost my favorite pair of Dresden's shoes. Boo!

The next day was our first day at church. I was very surprised at how small our ward is but everyone was sooooo nice! There were having a pancake breakfast for the 4th so we were excited for that. We met some great families and even two other residents from the school that are in our ward! woo hoo! They also had a little bike parade so lucky for us the kids bikes were still decorated. I am so happy we are where we are, I love our ward. We even got invited for a little 4th of July BBQ. It was so fun and nice to get to know some of the other families. We played bocci ball and then did fireworks. Ava also caught her first lighting bug! She was so excited, none of us have even seen one before. I was not good at getting pictures but here are a few.

We made it!

We finally made it to Lincoln! We left June 28th and arrived at our new place the next day. My amazing mom drive out with us to help with the kids and help us get all settled. It was so nice to have her help, especially in the car. We drove 10 hours to Kearney and then stayed in a hotel. Then the next day we only had 4 hours left. I'm pretty sure we got here on the hottest day ever! We were unloading the car in crazy humidity and we were soaking wet by the time we (mostly Eric) were done. I don't know what we would have done with out my mom. She was so good about watching the kids while we unpacked and put things away. Our house is nice. One day we will have everything put together and I can take some pictures.
We really like the area we are in. As we were driving into town it was weird not to see any mountains and to see so much green! I love the green. It has a very woodsy outdoor feel with all the trees...and mosquito's! Just for the record we have only been here 3 weeks and so far between all four of us I bet we have had at least 50 mosquito bites. SO annoying. Poor Ava doesn't even know how to handle all the itching. The humidity is like nothing I've every experienced! If we are outside even for twenty minutes we are so sweaty. Dresden is the worst, he gets these cute little beads of sweat on his little nose. It looks like he has been swimming his head is so wet!
We are really close to all the things we need like Target, the YMCA, the library, the mall, and our church! We are getting used to all the different names of places, stores, and restaurants. We are going to miss Cafe Rio and Costco though! We have driven around to a few places to get things and the downtown area is pretty neat with all the old buildings. I can't wait to get the kids out and take pictures.
While my mom was here she bought the kids a little pool for our backyard. Yes it is so nice to have a backyard, even if it's just a small one! They spend a good four days playing in it while we unpacked. And we discovered water balloons in the dollar section at Target! The kids thought it was pretty fun. I have alot to catch up on but here are a few pictures of the backyard.

Round-up Week

I probably say it every year but I really love this week. I get to see cousins and friends and the kids love the parades, carnival and rodeo. We always have a great time!
