Camping adventures!

First off, Happy 4th of July, 2012!
We had a great day shopping at the mall, playing and watching fire works.
It was fun.

Look at these little munchkins.  I love 'em!

Camping 2012 was supposed to be the best ever!  The weather didn't agree.  We had the most fires in our state in history and when did it decide to finally rain?!  Yup, the day before we headed for our annual camping trip with the Busch's, Gibson's and Holland's!   Last year we were practically flooded out of camping.  This year?  A fire ban and torrential rain!

As you can see from our pictures, it wasn't all bad!  When we arrived it was rather nice and we did some "site seeing" and then around 4p Friday the rain started and it didn't let up until early morning.

No open fires, but you could have a fire with an on/off switch!  We were successfully able to roast marshmallows.  Phew for that!  That is the reason we go camping right?!

Eleven kids and eight adults made for adventure for us all.  Travis and I took ten kids on about a mile hike.  Ages 3-12.  It was awesome.  Everyone was happy and survived the mountain.

We even found a little hut on our hike.

Later, after we packed up camp due to the impending afternoon thunderstorms, we went fishing.
Five adults and eleven kids!  We did catch and release around five fish.  Fun for all.

Isn't this beautiful?  It's Golden Gate Canyon State Park.
This is "dude's fishing hole."

We love to camp, just wish the rain wouldn't follow us year after year.  Although, this year I'm proud to say the Ravsten's had no puking, no incidents between cars and rocks and no "turrets Travis!"  Success!

We've discussed next year getting a cabin or house in order to "out-smart" the rainman!
What do you think?!!!
