We love to go up to Huntsville and go ice-skating, this year without much snow we didn't even make it sledding once.  We went up one Friday night with Nelson and Laura and the kids for a fun night skating around.  The ice was not the best, but the kids didn't care at all.  Jason even ventured out with us this time as he usually doesn't like to go skating.  Thanks to Darla & Curt that have a stash of all sizes of skates.   Fun Family Friday Night & the kids were tuckered right out!!!

The Gang

One tradition that my kids and myself still love is to decorate heart cookies, we did it after valentines this year as it was too crazy and we didn't get them done before hand. We took the goods to Mom & Dad Bowen's to do with the cousins since it is fun with more people. Tanner doesn't like to eat them, but Brylee does, she licks the frosting off first & then eats only about half the cookie. I always eat more then I should, another reason to do it with others then I won't eat too many!! It is fun to see how creative the kids are with the frosting and candies.

I don't mind the stress that they cause in my life because it is good stress that makes me appreciate and love them even more!!

Juggling Things

Image

I found this picture online and thought it was PERFECT depiction of how many things that women try to juggle. As a Mom I now appreciate my Mom even more. All the many things she juggled when I was growing up with five kids. I only have two and some days wonder how I got through the day and when my head hits the pillow I am out. Other days I have a hard time sleeping because I have so much going through my head to think about. Some days I wake up and accomplish so much.....other days I accomplish nothing. One day I may go through a whole day without yelling at my kids....another day may be a different story. Some days I care that my house is clean....others it doesn't matter. At the end of the day, what matters most is did I tuck my kids in and tell them I love them because we are a Family and Families are FOREVER!!!

2011 Halloween Visit to Aunt Arlene

Jason's Aunt we tried to visit as often as we could, she lost her husband a few years back, so we always made Halloween and Christmas visits and tried another time or so during the year as well. This last Halloween, Tanner had her laughing so hard, I was laughing at her cute laugh. She just couldn't stop laughing at Tanners Halloween costume. Arlene was always a spunky lady full of life and loved to tease and always let you know what was on her mind. I loved this lady as I have gotten to know her the years Jason and I have been married. She was always so kind and nice and we loved her spunky personality. Jason talks about the younger days when they would have sleepovers and she would make the jello popcorn and yummy breakfasts. Jason and her son Kirk were always the best of friends growing up and since we have been married we have tried to get together with Kirk & Natalie yearly or so. I would say he would be one of Jason's Best Friends for sure. Arlene went pretty quick when they found out she had cancer all through her body the beginning of December. We dropped by the Friday before she passed in January and she was not doing well, we told her of our love for her and spent some time with her and her two sons. Two days later she passed in her home with her family all around her.
We will LOVE you and will miss you Arlene!!

Whats for Dinner?!?!?!

Image
I hate trying to decide what to cook for dinner and then find out we don't have everything for the meal, so this is my attempt at trying to get better organized when it comes to dinner. I made a monthly planner for the meals we will eat, now if we don't feel like what is on that certain day it doesn't mean I can't swap something from another day, but at least we will have everything we need for all the meals for the month for the most part. We do go to family for dinner on some Sundays so that helps I can be lazy at least once a week, then if we do pizza or Chick-fil-a that we love I am all for as well. This is hopefully going to help with the grocery shopping as well, so I will only have to go for milk and produce. Here is my monthly attempt for dinners. Just NOT much Snow this Year!!

Image

Image
This is the first year we haven't even gone sledding because we just haven't had snow. Well I guess Brylee has gone sledding if you count Tanner pulling her around the yard in the sled. We have done more ice skating this year and each storm the kids have gotten all dressed up and played in the LITTLE bit of snow we did get. I got a couple of shots of course of the snow storm, they always have fun even if it is only a little bit of snow.
Image
Brylee is so funny, and does the funniest things. She will find anything to pretend with and this is where we found her in her room playing like she was a dog in her cage. She tells people that we have animals and that they are real, then when she shows them they are her stuffed animals or toys, but they are sure real to her. The other day she was playing at a friends and they dropped her off and she ran to the bathroom and grabbed the little turtle that she plays with in the tub. She showed her friends Mom. Her friends Mom said "I thought you guys really had a turtle the way she was talking about this turtle of hers!" She is a character, and sure spices up our family for sure.
