Yesterday Addyson and Braden turned 23 months old!!! I have to do a post because in 1 month my babies will be TWO YEARS OLD! I rarely say how old they are in months anymore - they're almost 2 if anyone asks. But after they are actually 2, I don't think it's cool to say how many months they are anymore. I mean I think I might get some funny looks someday saying they are 52 months old, don't you think? So I guess that goes for the blog too. So I'm taking advantage of this final chance!!!
So, just to share with you some of the stuff they're up to now at 23 MONTHS of age ---
Braden is just hilarious lately. He loves to laugh and run, usually with one arm pumping sideways. He is talking non-stop and learning new words all the time. Some of which we have no idea what he is saying but he knows. "Shano" is one we can't figure out but it is super cute and he says it when he's playing with Ryan or me and having a good time. One of my favorite words to hear is "shlap". He is asking to sit in my lap. He is still such a snuggler and Ryan and I are sure to soak in every bit of snuggling we can get. He is quick to give good kisses too, especially when I am talking to him when he knows he's in trouble. He just smooshes his lips up to my face while I'm still talking to hopefully say he's sorry and make it all better. Pretty hard to not laugh!! He still lines up everything he can just perfectly.
He likes to help do anything I can think of, especially throwing away trash.
He still likes to eat and is pretty good with his spoon. He sure likes his left hand but he is really good with both.
He loves to go. Especially outside. We had some nice warm days and we spent most of them outside. He loves to walk around the yard. The kids were so confused why they weren't wearing coats and hats. Here in Kansas you never know whether you'll need your snow boots or your flip flops!! Even in January.
And playing outside with daddy pretty much tops it all. Braden and Daddy are definitely best buds.
Little miss Addyson is a total goofball. She has the most infectious smile and laugh that I have ever seen or heard. She cracks me up so much! These are her sunglasses from last summer. She likes to wear them now!
She doesn't care what anybody thinks. She might demand her socks over her footy jammies or her boots at nap time. She knows what she wants and now she can tell us! But she is also super quick to say thank you whenever I give her something.
She loves to wear our shoes around; so does Braden.
She totally poses for the camera and has the best smiles.
She loves to read books. By herself or with mommy or daddy. Lately she thinks it is fun to sit on the big people chairs. If she doesn't fall off. Balance is not her strongest point. Sometimes she is just standing somewhere and will completely fall over. And then just giggles and giggles. But she can do a perfect sommersault!
Here she is sporting her glasses again!
And her hair is growing and growing. It fits in a pony tail pretty good now!
She likes to talk too and hang out with mommy; we are pretty good friends. She likes to hold my hand really tight. She is still little, but she also still has her big personality which we love!
They play together a lot but also like their alone time. At church in the nursery though they seem to be content just to do their own thing. So they're ok with or without each other for the most part.
Reading books with daddy
Here they got all their blankets and stuffed animals and covered up Ryan. You can barely see him under there! They sleep with all of the things you see here plus lots, lots more. Their cribs are so full - such a long way from the empty beds when they first came home when we were so scared of them being able to breathe!!
Riding grandpa's ranger with daddy. Addyson talks and talks and talks. They both like looking at the moo cows and horses.
Just having a snack
I hardly remember life without them - it's crazy to think it's only been almost 2 years since they were born. But they have grown so quickly. And are doing great; developmentally they are right on track. Other than Addyson being small there is nothing to tip you off that they were preemies. They are so amazing and have conquered so much in 23 short months. I am so thankful God put us together as a family - we have much to celebrate and be thankful for. Which reminds me of one more thing the kids like to do - pray. They hold their hands and close their eyes, well sort of. And say amen. And they are sure to remind us if we forget at meals. But their favorite seems to be praying with me at bedtime. They say, again, again. And the other day Braden joined in while we were praying. His first prayer was "thank you". Oh how happy I was to hear that. How simple it can be; we don't have to make it all complicated!!!
Happy 23 Months!!!
