We are AWANA Cubbies . . .

The first night of Cubbies was a few weeks ago. Here they are before that first Wednesday!

But last night they got their vests and had a great time. (We had a bit of a rough start the first couple weeks . . .  they got split up in different rooms at first, and then life has just been full of transitions for them and they weren't sure about Cubbies. But last night seemed to be a turning point!! Yay!!!)

That first night we headed to McDonald's afterwards to try to soothe some sad hearts. :(

And the next week we promised ice cream sundaes if they went without crying and fussing - bribes are always great. :)

Then last night they asked for ice cream just because . . . and daddy is a poor sucker who will take them to McDonald's for just about anything :)

Because he really likes it too.
And ice cream is good for celebrating, consoling, or just because!!!

So we all enjoyed our ice cream sundaes at home last night to celebrate what big kids they are getting to be!!!

Dropping them off that first night was a bigger deal for me than I thought it would be. Our babies are growing up!!! Thankfully one of my friends dropped off her oldest at Cubbies too and we could justify our sadness and nerves together. Oh well, we ALL survived and now it seems to be fun for everyone too!

Turning 3 1/2 this year was super fun since it also happens to be Labor Day and Daddy got to hang out with us during the day!!

Image

We celebrated with half birthday cakes after a yummy lunch of brats (Addyson kept asking me when the bras would be ready to eat. Silly girl!!), corn dip and chips, jigglers, and pasta salad.

They're not exactly Pinterest worthy cakes . . . but Addyson had fun helping me decorate. So what that we ran out of frosting and time and the crumby side didn't get frosted. Addyson did not care . . . she just told me the frosting was yummy and she was glad she got to lick the spoon . . .  and she quite possibly snitched a bunch of m & m's. And she did my hair instead. I'm slowly catching on that she just cares about the fun and not how perfect things look. She constantly asks me, "Mom, what are we gonna do for fun now?" and is sure to let me know when she "is not having a good time". I've mentioned more than a couple times that life isn't ALL about fun and that you have to do the hard stuff too. Oh well, I'm pretty sure I need a reminder to stop trying to be perfect and just stop and have FUN! So thankful for my oldest girl!

She blew her candles out like a pro. Big change since their 3rd birthday!

Braden was pretty awesome too - but Addyson was ready to help just in case.

And there is talk about a family slumber party at our house tonight. Should be big fun!!!

You're officially 3 and a half!!! Happy, happy half birthdays to my favorite twins in the whole wide world.
