Halloween and Stuff

Well, it's been awhile. So here are a few snapshots of what's been happening.

Say "Cheese!"

Say "Cheese!"

May is almost over and we've managed to get through all the birthdays and our 8th anniversary. School is almost out for the summer, the tulips and hyacinth are blooming and we even have a yard full of dandelions with a bit of green grass thrown in for variety.

Image

Ryan turned 30 this month, so he had a lot of candles to blow out. Lucky for him, he had three little helpers to give him a hand. In fact, I don't think he had to blow out a single one-they were all out by the time we finished singing happy birthday to him.

It's had to believe she's seven already. She's developing her own sense of fashion-she picks out her own clothes and likes to do her hair. In fact, she actually put her hair in a pony tail all by herself and while it wasn't as good as if I had done it, it was much better than if Ryan had. haha.

We decided that now would be a good time to get our family picture done. Our first "professional" one, anyway. I suppose it was worth it as we finally have a nice picture to hang up. Nearly every picture had someone not looking at the camera or crying, but we managed to get a few good ones. Spencer isn't really that much taller than Kaylin, he's standing on a box. He's actually only a half inch or so taller.

This is actually Kaylin's first grade spring picture. Ryan saw this picture and said, "She looks like she's a 5th grader! I need to buy a shotgun!"

Tay Yeung Carroll

Tay was born on Thursday, February 03, 2011 at 1:13 p.m. (or 1313), which also happens to be Chinese New Year. He measured 7 lbs, 5 oz. and 21 1/2 inches long, making him the longest of our four kids. He also wins the prize for having the most hair at birth. Labor progressed very quickly with Tay, contractions started at 10 a.m., we left for the hospital at 12:15 p.m. and made it there with 43 minutes to spare before Tay arrived.

The doctor said his nickname should be "Lucky" since the umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck twice, there were two knots in the cord, one of which was tight and could have cut off the blood flow, and there was an inexplicable tear in the cord, which is highly unusual. We're very blessed that he came when he did and that he was born healthy, aside from a slight heart murmur which resolved itself within 24 hours.

Mom and baby Tay are doing wonderfully, especially now that they're home. So far, he looks just like Kaylin, Spencer, and Jeran did when they were newborns. We're interested to see if he manages to retain his Asian appearance or if he'll lose them as did his siblings before him.

Mommy is very proud of Tay's full head of dark hair.

Proud big sister. Kaylin holds her newest little brother for the first time.

Jeran looks like he doesn't care too much for baby Tay, but in all reality, he's mad that Daddy wouldn't let him hold Tay all by himself. Kaylin could, why couldn't he?

Mommy and baby Tay. Happy to be out and doing great.

Our first family picture of six. Yes, Spencer is sleeping. We simply put him on the bed so he'd be included in the picture. Kaylin, Spencer, and Jeran all love Tay a lot, especially Kaylin.
