Tay was born on Thursday, February 03, 2011 at 1:13 p.m. (or 1313), which also happens to be Chinese New Year. He measured 7 lbs, 5 oz. and 21 1/2 inches long, making him the longest of our four kids. He also wins the prize for having the most hair at birth. Labor progressed very quickly with
Tay, contractions started at 10 a.m., we left for the hospital at 12:15 p.m. and made it there with 43 minutes to spare before
Tay arrived.
The doctor said his nickname should be "Lucky" since the umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck twice, there were two knots in the cord, one of which was tight and could have cut off the blood flow, and there was an inexplicable tear in the cord, which is highly unusual. We're very blessed that he came when he did and that he was born healthy, aside from a slight heart murmur which resolved itself within 24 hours.
Mom and baby
Tay are doing wonderfully, especially now that they're home. So far, he looks just like
Kaylin, Spencer, and
Jeran did when they were newborns. We're interested to see if he manages to retain his Asian appearance or if he'll lose them as did his siblings before him.

Mommy is very proud of
Tay's full head of dark hair.

Proud big sister.
Kaylin holds her newest little brother for the first time.
Tay...I am your father! [Mimicking Darth Vader]
Jeran looks like he doesn't care too much for baby
Tay, but in all reality, he's mad that Daddy wouldn't let him hold
Tay all by himself.
Kaylin could, why couldn't he?

Mommy and baby
Tay. Happy to be out and doing great.

Our first family picture of six. Yes, Spencer is sleeping. We simply put him on the bed so he'd be included in the picture.
Kaylin, Spencer, and
Jeran all love
Tay a lot, especially
Kaylin.

Scrunchy nose.

Grandma,
Kaylin, Spencer, and
Jeran meet baby
Tay for the first time.
Tay in his "I'm going home for the very first time" duds.

Finally home.
