The Color Run

Ever since I started training for races the kids have been BEGGING to run one with me.  I looked and looked for a good race suitable for a 5 and 6 year old and came across The Color Run.  So, we have been looking forward to The Color Run for weeks and weeks!

Today was the big day!  Brooks and Riley were up before 6 AM dressed and ready to go!  We ran the race with some friends from Riley's school.

We even had some fun glasses for the girls so the color wouldn't get in our eyes.

Every kilometer you would run through a "color zone" where
people would shower, throw, or spray powder color on you.
It was crazy!  At times it was hard to breathe there was so
much "color" in the air!  The kids LOVED it and couldn't get enough color on them!  At the finish line everyone had a bag of their own color powder to throw in the air....or at each other.

Our "after" picture...not so clean anymore

I DID IT!

Back in June a friend and I decided we would run the half marathon in December.  So, come September we started to train.  We ran a few times a week and did long runs on Saturday.  We had many early mornings together!  Well, the big day finally came!   It was a beautiful 45 degrees and rainy.  Not your best conditions.  The 45 degrees wasn't bad, it was the rain that made it tough.  Nothing like running 13.1 miles with soggy shoes...

Morning of the race.  Staying warm in our fancy trash bags.

Waiting in line for 45 minutes to use the bathroom before the race.  If you are a lady who has had three kids you know this is a must before running for two hours...

 And we were off....

I had a great cheering section at mile 6!

Well, I am a tad bit sore today, but injury free.  Crazy thing is that I think I'm addicted.  I have my eyes on another half on December 31st...Hey, might as well while I am still going strong...

Is it normal that instead of flipping through toy catalogs to make his Christmas list, he has me pull up all the NFL helmets on the computer and he draws which uniforms he wants for Christmas.  Gotta love this kid.

Gobble Gobble

Upon returning from a quick 12 mile run on Saturday, I had three anxious kids waiting to make some Thanksgiving Turkeys.  So, into the craft drawer we dug and out came the glue, eyes, and feathers.

They worked and worked...

Glue was everywhere!  We had feathers stuck to everything!

And out came three cute little turkeys.

Queen of Rock and Roll

I love, love, love the elementary school Riley attends.  It is a small school so they are able to do fun stuff.  Each year they have a theme and this year the theme is "Spring Creek Rocks."  So once a month they have a Pride Rally where they dance and give out awards.  Each six weeks one girl and boy from each grade are named the "Queen" and "King" of Rock and Roll based on their behavior and attitude at school.  So....guess who got it this six weeks???

Can you see her?  It's a little dark

Here she is with her rock and roll trophy.  Pretty cute!

When the boys saw me taking her picture with the award, they had to jump right in with their trophies...

It's November!!

Image
November is here!  Time for some Thanksgiving crafts!  If you remember in the past we have had a Turkey of Thanks and a Tree of Thanks.  This year my kids had the great idea to do a Cornucopia of Thanks.  Riley drew up a Cornucopia for us and each night we are filling it with food (that the kids cut out) with something they are thankful for written  on it.
