Fester No More

January 25, 2010

Saturday night, ICC25. Unlike last week, where we got to the Plagueworks late and only had time for a handful of tries, this week, we steamrolled through the Lower Spire and had plenty of time to spend on Festergut. We never got him down, but we made great progress on learning the fight … next week his number is up.

Sunday afternoon, ICC10. THIS WEEK, we brought the A-team … or at least, *an* A-team … there are others in the guild equally able to compete at the top who ran earlier in the week or are busy doing other things. *pulls Ado away from Star Trek Online*

Lower Spire? One-shotted the entire thing. Stupid Saurfang who I hate with a passion and hope he has to suffer for eternity with a blood beast chewing on him and no way to escape? He never got a Mark out.

NEVER      GOT       A     MARK     OUT

So we proceed to the Plagueworks, with no rogue, and I promptly blink through the first fog wall, and then blink INTO the next two and kill myself twice. I literally had tears rolling out of the corners of my eyes, I was laughing so hard.

Clear the trash, and we’re pretty excited to be getting to Plagueworks with time to spare. We hadn’t tried Festergut on 10 man before. We’d put in two or three tries on Rotface the one previous time we’d made it this far. Several of us, though, run in the 25 man on Saturday nights, so we had the fight fresh in our minds.

We totally destroyed him. We downed him in four minutes … the enrage timer is five minutes. Yeah, that’s right … we had a FULL MINUTE to spare.

Image

He hasn’t literally hit the ground yet, but if you click for the larger screenshot, you’ll see DBM in the chat window saying Festergut down after 4 minutes.

We moved on to Rotface and spent an ungodly amount of time afk to read up on the fight. We did get some quality attempts in on him though. As long as we can keep the same/a similar team together next week, I have a feeling his days are numbered as well.

I respecced slightly before this week’s raids … I took points out of Arcane Stability to get the extra range from Magic Attunement. I think it did make a difference in kiting blood beasts. I didn’t really notice any issues from lack of pushback resistance, other than on very aoe-heavy fights like the last two trash mobs before Deathwhisper, and Stinky.

Sorry, there was no dancing. But there must be a screenshot of dancing, so here …

That’s Jumron and Kroy dancing with Leareth and Mydge after downing Arcanist Doan in the Library.

Drama Averted

January 22, 2010

Early last week, we got some new guild members. I can’t even tell you the names of the others off the top of my head, but one name I was already familiar with … Lokoz. I had seen him around Dal and inspected him on occasion because he is also a DW frost DK. Come on, I know you guys do it too … inspect others of your class to see what they do the same or different as you in their gear choices/talents/gemming/enchanting.

Anywho .. this guy joins the guild, and there are three ICC10’s on the calendar to sign up for. The first one rolls around, which Karius is signed up for, and we have four melee dps that all want to go, including Lok. The raid leader discusses the situation with the melee, Lokoz signs up for Saturday, so I go and sign Kaly up for Sunday. No one wants to have to roll against someone of the same spec and class if they don’t have to, right?

Saturday rolls around, Lokoz misses the raid. I’m thinking “he better not show up tomorrow and want to go.” Well guess what? He showed up on Sunday and wanted to go. I admit it … I laid into him a bit. I’m all like “dude, you didn’t show up for the one you signed up for, we can’t both go to this one,  blah blah blah blah bitch piss moan” … I was not very nice and this little voice in my head was saying ‘you’re being a bitch, stop it’ but I couldn’t help myself. …. and then he whispered me. And he’s like “man, I’m sorry, I had family stuff come up and couldn’t make it” … and he wasn’t angry that I was angry. Well, I can’t stay mad at someone who isn’t also mad, so I said “it’s ok” and after a couple of minutes passed and the anger drained from me I said “I’d rather be friends and get along than be upset with you” and he smiled back and agreed.

SO we did end up both in the raid. And the raid was unsuccessful in doing anything other than clearing the trash to Marrowgar. But you know what? It was one of the best times I’ve had raiding EVER. We whispered each other throughout the clearing of trash. We competed to top each other on the damage meter. He even gave me a couple tips to improve my dps and turned it into an even closer battle.

So … we’re beating down Marrowgar side by side and everything is going well.

Image

We’ve got his boney butt almost down, and then he whispers me  … “we’re gonna beat him!” … dude, you totally jinxed that so bad. Oh well, at least I got a good screenshot of the dead Death Knights. :p

Image

So the raid broke up after a few more attempts, and we had time to kill before ToC25.  So we went on a mount run to ZG! I threw on my tanky gear and we had a blast … we actually almost died on the trash before the tiger boss… stupid stuns. And then, of course, we collected a bunch of Darkmoon Special Reserve and got smashed. Lokoz is all up in guild chat saying ‘someone save me’ which, when you’re drunk, comes out ‘shomeone shave me’. Good times.

Then someone suggests a trip to Kara to kill Attumen and Moroes, so .. still smashed and unable to tell where we’re going .. we go along. I don’t remember how he managed to die, but I raised him as my pet ghoul. HAHA!

And then he showed me his special smiley happy place.

Image

I’m throwing in a couple of shots from Monday night’s AQ raid because if I don’t post them here, they’ll never get put up.

Looks like Karius, Lokoz, and Nickolas needed a nap in the middle of the fight.

Image

And last but not least, the closet thing I have to Lokoz naked, because hey … you knows I likes my naked screenshots around here. 😉

Image

There, Lokoz, you got your post that’s all about you. It’s definitely more fun being friends and having fun, eh? 😉

Random Action

January 21, 2010

Just a few random screenshots and notes today.

I get DTK as my random quite often. However, I am not complaining. I’m still a bit disappointed that they nerfed Tharon’ja though. I love the skelly fight.

Image

During the fun visit to OK the other night that Lajos has already written about, the lock pulled out this infernal while we were eating our fish feast after my now-infamous “We can do this!” (wipe) moment.

Image

I mentioned earlier that Ragle had hit 60 and gotten some fun new spells (penance wewt) and also his bird. Shadow gryphon ftw!

Image

I also mentioned that Kerick is waiting on some friends to catch up so he can dungeon with them. Well, last night they were 35, and Kroy is up to 31, so I said “hey, let’s queue for some SM.” Jumron wasn’t on, but Lokoz was, so I twisted his arm a little bit and got him to come heal on his druid Yiin. We got some tank from LFD (they must’ve been ok, but unremarkable, because I don’t even remember them) and cruised through there. You know what happens at the end, right? Right?? You got it! Dance partay

Image

Shake it, baby

P.S. Lokoz, you know those screenshots I was gonna look for? Yeah, it was late and, well … I kinda forgot. So tomorrow, you get a post that’s just about you. Oh .. wow … would you look at that. I didn’t think your head could get any bigger! That’s pretty amazing :p

I’m On A Bug

January 20, 2010

Someone beat me to this, but that’s ok.

Monday night, Classic Raid Night. They gave me raid assist this week ahead of time so that I could invite some non-guildy friends. And then the GM didn’t show up on time so guess who had to start up the raid and fill the mostly just-for-show role of raid leader?  I’ve never lead a raid before. The closest I ever came was once when Airon passed lead to me for a couple minutes while he swapped over to get something off one of his alts.

So anyway, raid time rolls around and there’s no one else on to start it up, and Krizzlybear is whispering me asking if invites have started, because I had invited him along earlier in the day through comments left on his blog. Ah, the internet is a wonderful thing!  So I invite him to a party and get the raid invites rolling. We get about 16 people. After some discussion in vent, we decide to hit up AQ20.

So some of us head out there and summon the rest, and then we all gather just inside the entrance. Amazingly enough, I think everyone in the raid had a mammoth.

Image

AQ20 went very fast, so we decided to go on to AQ40. A few people had to leave, but we picked up a couple others as we went, since Elgar finally decided to show up, and one of my friends from another guild had a raid get cancelled and asked if the invite I had extended to him was still open. As it turned out, having his tree along was very helpful … I’m actually not sure we would have beat C’Thun without him.

I made Kriz hold still for a screenshot before he took leave between the two. Hey Kriz, I just realized something! Both of the raids we’ve done together, one was my DK and your mage, and one was my mage and your DK! Hmm…I don’t have a druid though. Maybe someday your druid and my priest can heal something together. We’ll have to talk about that in 20 levels.

Here ya go .. Karius and Wimzig.

Image

Well, AQ20 may have been fast and mostly unremarkable … but AQ40 was the exact opposite. There are these mounts that drop, Ahn’Quiraji Battle Tanks, that can only be ridden inside the instance. AND they count towards the mount achievements. Too cool! Of course … I was the very last person to get one. doh! But it worked out, everyone got one.

The Twin Emperors fight was *crazy*. We noobed it up quite well, they healed a lot, it took forever. No one died or anything. Saltimbanco, my tree friend, was running around with an army of bugs swarming him, so I took time out from dps’ing the boss dude to aoe them off of him. Resto druids’ ability to run around spamming heals while being beat up on never ceases to amaze me … or disgust me, in the event that the tree happens to be on the other team.

C”Thun … I can’t tell you much about. I stopped after getting my mount, to find it in my mount tab and put it on an action bar so I could ride it. Everyone ran on ahead. I actually had to do a /rw and say ‘hey guys! your RL is lost!’ … lol. A couple people ran back to find me, and led me back, and *just* as Lajos and I were getting to his room, an eye beam took us both out in the hallway, far enough behind the doorway that we couldn’t even watch the fight. Doh! So yeah … I never even laid eyes on him until after he was dead. Oh well, next time. I gotta go back and get the rest of the mounts ya know!

Image

CoS

I’m running late on getting this up as it is, but since someone already posted his, mine have to go up too. I was so totally nervous about tanking this.  I had never successfully completed a mount run in here as the tank. The last time I tried tanking it (just a couple of weeks ago, in fact) it was an absolute disaster. Take that, and then throw the fact that Lajos didn’t have the mount yet and this was my chance to see to it that he got one .. well, that’s a fair bit of pressure on my shoulders. I don’t think we had *much* time left, but we weren’t down to the last second or anything. It was a darn good run. So .. we danced.

Image

And then went back to Dal and I made him mount up and show it off.

Image

And then I ask what he was flying before and he brings out a red drake.

Gripe of the Day: Why can’t I get freaking Oculus as my random now that they’ve added the special rewards and drakes, huh? Huh?? It’s almost like they removed it from the random selections … but of course, that can’t be true, because Mr. I’ve-Got-Two-Blue-Protodrakes-From-Skadi Bloodfrenzy got one on one of his toons. &#@%
