Three More Down, Four To Go

I made an effort last night to get the rest of the Cossacks done. I did pretty good, I think, getting shots of three of the seven I am missing. I did hang out with two others but wasn’t ever lucky enough to get a screenshot before they got knocked out.

Let’s start with Prokop Shumeiko.

He’s one of the first guys I mentioned here, but it’s taken me this long to get a good shot. He only exists in the game. He carries the banner of Chernihiv (Chernigov) though, which always strikes me as funny because he’s not actually the lord of that city in the game.

Shortly after the battle I got the screenshot in, we assaulted a fortress, and he got shot down before we made it to the ladder. I amused myself by taking screenshots of him unconscious on the ground. Yeah, I’m weird, I know.

Next we have Pavlo Gomon.

I could only find one reference to him outside of Mount and Blade, and it’s just a name in a list of atamans. So it appears that he did actually exist, but we don’t know anything about him.

And, I finally got Bogun!

I believe I have mentioned before that Ivan Bohun did exist and was a close friend of Khmelnytsky. Jurko Bohun in the book and the movie is loosely based on him.

He’s better looking in the movie. Slice and Lyss came to visit me this weekend and I made them watch it. Lyss liked Skrzetuski better. I think she even liked Wolodyjowski better. No doubt those two are both awesome but … I guess I just like bad boys.

Ok, I just need Jalaliy, Sinonos, Vygovsky and Mozyra and I’ll have all of the Cossacks posted.

Dungeon Fun

While I’ve been working on Adryen, Slice and Lyss have been leveling an Alliance tank and healer pair… a draenei warrior and an adorable gnome priest. Yesterday morning Lyss pinged me on google chat asking if I had anything level 30ish to run with them. Let’s see … I’ve got that 31 hunter that I used to help make Lyss’ bank guild or … OOH! I have my own bank alt, the level 30 worgen lock whose tailoring is capped at 225 until he gets to level 35!

So when I got home, I logged on to him. Slice and Lyss weren’t on yet, so I did a little rearranging to make some bag space, and I also went and picked up dual spec and got him a destro spec. I’d been demo, which is how I leveled Madorsa, but I thought dungeons would be a good opportunity to try out some fire slinging. As a bonus, since I’m not solo, I get to bring out my felpuppy instead of the blueberry. His name is Droonam but … I call him Jimmy.

Korgus became bank alt because I wasn’t fond of the male worgen casting animations but … by the end of the night they were growing on me. We also had a full SR group, with Arvash‘s worgen warrior and Tyledres’ human warlock joining up. Of course, with that kind of group, the pulls looked something like this.

SR in Real Life

So, this weekend I went to visit Slice and Lyssi. Sorak was in the same state they are in on business, so I swung by and picked him up on my way there.

We got there Friday late afternoon, and we all piled into Slice’s car and went to Quaker Steak & Lube for wings. Sorak ordered some Atomic level stuff that no one else would touch. Friday night a few of Slice’s friends came over. First they taught me how to play Magic in preparation for Saturday night’s draft, then we all played another card game called Bang! that Sorak brought with him. Oh yeah, and we had these awesome enchiladas for dinner that Lyssi cooked.

Saturday morning Lyssi cooked breakfast for us, and we watched some netflix … then we decided we’d better get moving if we wanted to go to the zoo. Compared to our zoo here, the one in Columbus is huge. We were there four hours and didn’t see everything. But what we did see was pretty cool. Here are some of the things we saw:

It was pretty hot and humid. It had looked like rain, but then the sun came out. Bleh. So we spent a lot of time in line to refill our drinks, like Lyssi and Slice are doing here.

It was a lot of walking too, so Slice and I sat down whenever we could.

Not sure how much fun the boys really had, but Lyssi and I really enjoyed seeing all the animals.

Wow this is getting long already. Anyway, the coolest part at the zoo was Stingray Bay, where you can stick your hands in the pool and actually touch the stingrays. It wasn’t the best spot to get pictures though.

After the zoo we grabbed a bite to eat, then went to the home of the guy who came over the night before for our Magic tournament. I had no help at all on the drafting part, and I must have done ok, because they said my deck was pretty solid. I did have advice on what plays to make for the first two matches though.

Slice and Sorak both kicked my butt good, but I finished with a record of 5-4 so I think I did pretty ok for my first time.

Sunday Lyssi cooked us breakfast and we hung out watching tv, then played a board game and went out for Korean BBQ before Sorak and I hit the road. We all had a great time.

Van Goes Raiding

Who says you have to be 85 to raid? You just have to have enough people of the appropriate level for the instance … or better yet, friends who are 85. Like say … Lyssi and Slice!

That was Saturday. And yes, we 3 manned most of Tempest Keep with 85 tank and DPS, and a level 71 healer. We weren’t quite able to down Kael and friends, although we did get them to Phase 3. If it hadn’t been almost time for the Crits raid, perhaps we would have given it another try.

Fast forward to last night. Shortly after midnight my time, so I’m wrapping up my hunt for Alliance females to put bunny ears on, when Tel asks in chat if anyone has a toon they can spare for awhile. He wants to do ZA before it goes away in today’s patch. UUUUUhhhhhhhhhhgggg …..soooooooo laaaaattttteeee. BUT … it’s a case of now or never, ya know?

We wait for Yui and Lyssi to finish their randoms, then the four of us head out to Ghostlands. So we have 85 prot pally, 85 ret pally, 85 spriest, and 72 holy pally. Can you say roflstomp? Lion joined us later after he’d finished his dungeon, so then we had yet another ret pally. (Pally powah! Who invited the priest again? Level a paladin Lyss!)

Lyssi and I got locked out of Zul’jin though. She was trading me a hex stick when Yui pulled. Oops. So here I am sitting outside the platform getting achievement spam for … not really doing anything. lol.

Still no Mojo for me. Hopefully he is still available in the new 5 man, because  I’ve never gotten him on any toon yet. But PPP got one! So I kissed it.

I did manage to snag a couple purples while we were there, too. I got a belt, and I got this funky looking helmet.

Noblegarden Update

This is not going nearly as poorly as I had anticipated. When I put ears on Zug’s hunter the other day, it didn’t dismount me. A lightbulb went off in my head. If I don’t get dismounted …

So I flew around to areas where I was likely to find unsuspecting leveling toons. Darkshire … male human, male human, worgen, male undead … aha! Female gnome! Divebomb down towards the center of town, one eye on my hotkey to hit it as soon as I’m in range … bam! Gnome has bunny ears and I am rising on my sparkle pony, back into the skies and away to find my next victim. I got a human rogue in Theramore, and a Night Elf hunter in Ashenvale.

I’m actually having a lot of fun divebombing people to put ears on them. So much better than having to engage in PvP. Tonight I’m going to try Wetlands for a dwarf. Not really sure where to find a Draenei … gotta be some though. Everyone and their dog has a female space goat on my Alliance server. Can’t be much different here. Then again, 90% of the toons I have found are males. Maybe this server is just weird. 😛
