I was blog-stocking earlier today and I love Janea's blog...the nine things that make her happy. I am not particularly upset about anything in my life, but decided that once in awhile we all need a reminder of all the blessings that we truly have. So here is my list of the nine things that make me happy - thanks Janae!
1. My husband - I don't care who wants to challenge me on this one, but I have decided that I definitley have the best husband/friend in the whole world. He does so much for us. Its actually quite amazing, considering all of the schooling that he has done (almost completed -two weeks). He is truly my best friend.
2. My experience these past 4 1/2 years. When I left Utah I was scared to death. I had never lived more than 20 or 30 miles from my family. I feel that I have definitely grown and that it has been one of the best decisions that Rex and I have ever made. I will always treasure our time in Arkansas.
3. My boys!! Despite the fact that they can and do bring out the worst in me, the smiles and laughs they bring, out weigh all the yelling and screaming that can go on in this house.
4. REX HAS TWO MORE WEEKS OF SCHOOL!! This thought almost makes me giddy inside. It has been a long-hall. If you add up his time in college with all of this it has been 10 1/2 years. I know it wont really be over, because we will return to Utah and he will start studying for the Bar, but it is almost like I can breathe again. I am looking forward to no more study nights and homework on the weekends.
5. My family - I am almost home everyone. I cannot wait to get home and be with my mom and dad and my brothers and their families. And I know I am a rarity, to be home with my inlaws and the rest of our family is just has exciting to me. We just spent our last Thanksgiving alone. Although it is nice and quiet and you aren't running from here to there, it will be nice to be with family. My family is my life.
6. My brother Scott - I am so thankful that he finally got to have his three oldest kids for a day -even if it was only for a few hours. Sometimes I get so frustrated with the entire situation and dare I say, wonder if 'anyone' is looking out for these three beautiful children. All our family prayers and fasting payed off! And my family (The Hills) had the best Thanksgiving in a long time - and we all definitely had a lot to be thankful for.
7. The Holidays - I love to decorate!!! Thanks Mom :)
8. Laying in bed reading the Friend to Tyler today.....we love to search for the hidden CTR ring and this months edition is great! Read the story about the litte girl who visits her elderly neighbor who was born in Germany - made my cry
9. The Gospel - what would I do without it!
There you have it....and it wasn't painful at all.

Twilight....
Okay...so it was inevitable that I would blog sometime about my not so secret addiction. Yes several of us went to see Twilight on opening night. It as quite hilarious to see so many grown women with t-shirts and going crazy. I guess you could add all of us to that mix too - minus the t-shirts. I really liked it - although I LOVE the books better. But to tell the truth, it is even better the second time when you are not constantly comparing it to the book. I know - pretty pathetic. If the truth be told, I would go again :) I am still trying to get Rex to read the book and come see it, but after about 45 minutes of begging him yesterday...I could see that it would be a never ending road of frustration. FYI -if you haven't already, buy the soundtrack, it is great. I didn't really like it that much until I saw the movie...now I listen to it constantly...so much so that Tyler is even singing the songs. Well I won't drive you all crazy with my little obsession. Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving!!

Pumpkins & Trick or Treats...
It's been a while since our last post, but the flu and colds have kept us down and out. Here are just a few shots of the candy-gorge fest :)
Halloween was fun this year. Preston loved the trick or treating - I don't know where I got two chocolate lovers -because I am not - but these two monkeys could eat it for every meal. We had the Dixon's over for trick or treating and chili (my dads homemade recipe) it was fun. We realized that sadly this will be our last Halloween together. So in honor of this sad moment, I give you Monica -she'll probably kill me, but it is just too funny!
Tyler is Obi.

What do I do? Where do I go?
Well, I have finally had the experiences of all mom experiences. I was driving to work on Thursday, unusually excited about getting to school that morning. I was about a mile away from the pre-school and Preston started to throw-up -3 TIMES!!!! I do not do throw-up. I said to Tyler, "Is he throwing-up?" To which he responds, "Yes and it stinks so bad -it make me want to puke!" I told him to not breathe. So then he starts chanting to himself, "I'm not breathing, I'm not breathing, I'm not breathing!"
Now, I am trying to decide what to do. It was raining and pretty dark, so hence Mrs. Night Blind Queen can barely see. I was faced with two options: turn around and go home or make it to the pre-school, clean him up and then head home. I opted for #2. I got the to the pre-school and ran inside to see Mrs. Deana. She got me a towell and several washrags -which I tried to use as gloves. I was just so thankful that it was still dark enough that I couldn't really see the puke, but boy did it smell. Well, I got him cleaned up -and I was pretty proud of myself. For me, it was like one of those situations like everyone talks about - adrenalin (however you spell it) kicked in. I know, it's not like a moved a semi-truck off my child, but I DO NOT DO PUKE!!!
All in all, we survived and my little Pressy-bug is feeling better. He was so cute when we got back home (rex met us at home) He started using words he has never used, "Daddy, I fow-up in my seat, I fow-up in my seat -it yucky." - all of this said in a very serious and distressed tone.

Bad Memories
Okay, so some how I got roped into being Student Council sponsor this year....never again!! Last week was Greenbrier's Homecoming and the student council was incharge of the Homecoming maids and the dance after the game. My main job was the dance. It was joyous!! I haven't been to a school dance since, I think my high school prom my senior year (nothing's changed). For those of you lucky enough to be from Utah, you know what a stomp is. Well this dance was basically that. My first walk through, brought back some crazy memories -the smell of lots of sweat and too much cologne/perfume -blah. I took door duty the rest of the night :) Needless to say, I would not got back to high school no matter how much money I was given.

Kids say the darndest things...
Today, Tyler's preschool teacher stopped me and told me the funniest thing that Tyler said. Before she could even begin, I told her I was sorry. Some of the ideas and statements that come from his lips are killer funny. Anyhow, she said that last week when she was doing his kindergarten testing, she asked him what his parents names were, and he replied, "Well Mrs. Jennifer, I am not allowed to call them by their first names, but since it's you, I guess I can tell you." Holy Cow! Where did we find this child.

Oh...incase I forgot :)
I AM A TWILIGHT FREAK!!!!
I read all four books in four days!! I am responsible for monicas addication too. I would like to take this opportunity to thank my sister-in-law Annette - better known as Foon, for my 'brand of heroin' She sent me the first two books for my birthday. And I will be honest, my first thought was VAMPIRES - sha right. But I looked in the back at the author and thought, "oh, a nice mormon girl...can't be that bad." Well, I was hooked. I paid absolutely no attention to my husband and children for four days. One night, I think when I was in book three, Tyler had kept asking for dinner. I kept telling him just a minute. Around 8:30 he went in to Rex (who was fixing our computer) and said, "Dad! I am just so hungry! And mom wont stp reading that book and make me dinner." I know, I know horrible mom. That is exactly the reason that I have really read any books since I had Tyler....I cannot put them down and I get lost in another world and become someone I am usually not :) I have since read all four books 4 more times....I just read when the kids go to bed for like an hour. It is crazy. I have never really read a book more than once. Well, except Jack Weylond books in high school.

I'm a slow poke :)
Okay...I'll admit that I have not done anything to this blog since I set this puppy up....too busy I guess. I will try to do better. The actual truth is that nothing too exciting has occurred in the Spencer house in a while. Rex did go to Louisiana and help with the clean-up effort. He said it was an awesome experience. As most of you who read Monica's blog know, she and I and Pam went to the Time Out For Women in St. Louis a few weeks ago. It was the first time in eight years of marriage that I have gone a girls weekend.....horrible I know. It was so much fun and as soon as my hubby loads the pictures (mostly of all the crazy bathrooms we ran into) I will post them. Mostly we are just getting excited for Halloween and the well the holidays around here. I LOVE TO DECORATE as most of my friends know. Tyler is so exicted for Halloween. Yesterday we were walking into Wally-world and he asked what day it was I told him that it was the last day of September....he started cheering through the entire store at the top of his lungs that it was almost October and it would soon be Halloween. He is so fun!! He gets so exicted about everything and always has. Ever since we put up our Halloween decor, he has wanted me to play pumpkin patch with him. He makes me pretend to be "farmer Joe" and he comes and talks to me about my pumpkin patch and then he picks a pumpkin and leaves. Once he is gone he sticks his head around the corner and says, "okay, now your my mom..." he comes home from the patch and tells me all about his experiences. So much imagination. He is determined to find a 'square' pumpkin this year. Preston could care less about anything. He is definitely '2' years old - my ultimate test of patience.
