I have nothing new to report today so I’ll catch you up on The Big Move. We decided we wanted to build a new house back in February 2013 We picked out our lot in March, broke ground in June and moved into the new house November 18. It all seems like a big blur looking back because we actually had to move twice. We put our old house on the market May 1, 2013 and it sold the FIRST weekend on the market. We actually had three showings and three offers. It was crazy. I frantically searched for a rent house to avoid homlessness. I found something through a friend of a friend who would allow us to do a six month lease. It was a pure blessing because it was in our new town and less than a mile from Rhett’s new school. So Rhett finished third grade June 6th in our old town and we moved into the rent house that weekend. The rent house was an adventure. We didn’t unpack all of our stuff, just the bare necessities. Landon actually slept on an air bed next to Wyatt’s bed for six whole months, which he carried over to the new house. He sleeps on Wyatt’s floor right by big brother every night.

Rhett’s last day of school and our big move to the rent house weekend.
It was very bittersweet saying goodbye to our old house, but we were very excited about building.
We barely fit into the rent house but we made the best of our seven months there and were so thankful to have found a place to live.
We managed to pass the time rather quickly in the rent house by checking off our Summer Fun List. We checked just about everything off our list for Summer 2013.
In between our Summer Fun list we checked our construction progress daily.
Once all the rooms were sheetrocked, we let each boy write all over their walls. We wrote our favorite scriptures and prayers all over the house.
Landon was at the end of potty training during this transition time and would always go number two in this little corner under the stairs. I just had to laugh because each time I couldn’t find him at the new house he was hiding under the stairs just going to town…haha!
We learned some valuable lessons throughout the building process, mainly that Landon’s forehead is eye-level with the island…YIKES! Poor little dear had that big ole bruise forever.
By November they were just putting the finishing touches on the house and it started to get real that this was really happening. We LOVE our backyard lake view and my favorite touch is my Texas shaped sink in my outdoor kitchen.
The house was finally done and we closed November 15, 2013. Then crazy Jason and I drove to San Antonio and ran a half marathon on the 17th, drove home and the movers moved us in on the 18th. If we ever do this again we probably won’t run a half marathon and move back to back. We were sore and wiped out, but it was all worth it. We are absolutely in LOVE with the house and our neighborhood. It’s so hard to believe we’ve already been here over a year and half now. (good thing I finally got it all blogged…haha!)
