Infinity - The Morat

Image
Infinity is a game where I have painted and assembled a few, but never played a game.  I am sure it is only a matter of time since the game has mecha and Akira bikes.
Image
This is the second batch of Morat troops I have had the pleasure of painting.  (Pictures of the first batch, the newer models, were lost to the death of the other computer.)
Image
I really like these models  They are done in the same scale as the old metal Malifaux minis, no big hands or oddly sized heads.  Lots of cool sci-fi details with a little feudal bits thrown in.   The entire range is metal, and I hope they start switching to plastic (like Wyrd has.)

Retribution - The Battlegroup

Image
The next bettlegroup to tackle is the Retribution, or commonly known as the angry-elf-faction.  For inspiration I took a look through the art, and the black and white art specifically.  I liked the monchrome look, but I wanted some flashes of colour somewhere.
Image
In the end I went for a muted colour scheme, except for the blues.  Staying away from browns and metallics (I think) helps keep the manga feel of the Warmachine elves.  And being manga elves, the girls all get some bright hair.
Image
The final effect seems to give a (tolerable) glittery look, more so against a darker background.
Image
The entire battlgroup is painted to a "tabletop" standard, my quick three tone method.  With this method the shadows and highlights are emphasized, and contrary/complementary colours are used to bring out the details.  A limited palette is also used, which keeps painting fast and is very unifying.

Until the next post, there are many more models to paint...

Khador - The End?

Image
The dirty Khadorians, a long project that is finally done.
Image
Included in the army is an objective (from the Warmachine objective set), which was finished just in time for GottaCon.  Hopefully that big barrel of coal was useful!
Image
This wave also saw some Iron Fang cavalry (called 'Uhlans') as well as the solo; Markov.
Image
Markov was my favourite of all the cavalry, I seem to prefer the standing poses for horses compared to the leaping ponies.
Image

Image
Also, keeping with the lance theme, a spriggan.  I roughed this 'jack a little more than the others.  I have been using the packing foam (from blister packs) to splotch on the chips in the paint, which is both fun and effective.
Image
Those long lances pose a problem on the tabletop, so each one has a long pin, allowing for easy removal when charging.  I was going to replace the pin with some magnets, but they fit very tight, so the pins stayed.
Image
Is this the end of Khador posts?

Not a chance!

Cyriss - Machine Core

Image
Having jumped into Warmachine with both feet, and becoming a Press Ganger (a PP volunteer and event organizer), it is time to collect ALL the factions.  At the very least, I am aiming to have all the battlegroups.  When it is demo time, I will have a wide range of forces to try out.  I already have Cryx and Cygnar, so was time to finish up the other 'c'; Convergence of Cyriss.
Image
This faction is all about the superiority of the machine.  With their leaders conversing in some kind of binary with a comet named Cyriss, the Convergence aims to make the world a more orderly and clockwork place.
Image
They also like to use big technical words.
Image
These guys (and all my other batllegroups) will be tearing it up all weekend at GottaCon.  If you are going to be there and haven't experienced the awesome of Warmachine, find me near the Iron Arena and I can introduce you.

Dark Eldar - The Iron Thorn

Image
Another batch of minis done!  This time I got to paint up some sweet dark eldar on bases made from coolness.
Image
The archon, mostly plastic with some finecast bits.  I like this pose a lot.  Not only is he standing on some elevation, but the model itself is still standing straight.  Always something to keep in mind with epic basing.
Image

Image

Image
The venoms, with magnetized gunners.  As is usual for eldar, lots of line-highlights.
Image

Image

Image
And the two five-xenos warrior squads.  Each warrior has a turquoise shoulder pad to differentiate between units.

Gamesday Minis of Old

Image
These two minis are from the old days, when I wore a red shirt in a hobby centre.  Both of them are Gamesday minis, those one-time exclusives that exist to look cool.
Image
Back then, I was trying to push my painting skills to a 'Eavy Metal standard.  Trying different techniques on non-gaming pieces, those minis that are destined to sit on a shelf looking nice, gives a painter a nice break from the uniform pallet of painting armies.
Image
I have decided to put these two up on ebay and clear off that display shelf...they could become yours!
