Monkey Fun

Image

And here I thought they were getting too old for a swing set, lol.  I didn't realize that it was a swing set/monkey bar!  Aspen is the braver out of the two, she teaches Sage how to do her daring tricks. They both are covered in bruises but they aren't complaining.

Radishes

Aspen told me today that she has a radish.  I asked her where and she showed me a rash on her leg.  I told her, "Aspen that is a rash not a radish."  "Yup, that is what I said Mom, I have a radish!"  Oh well radishes, rashes, close enough, lol.

I love the internet!

All those who bash the internet, facebook, youtube, etc drive me crazy.  Because I personally love the internet and all the amazing good it can do.  Just like this weekend my precious front loader washer stopped working and was flashing an error code on the display.  It wasn't in the manual.  But it was on the internet!  and even better the "repair" was on youtube!  Seriously, without the internet we would have paid $150-$200 just to have them take the front off and empty the pump filter.  It was crazy how full it was, a couple of kids socks (which probably is what put it over the edge), pennies, nickles, dimes, 1 quarter, two small pebbles (I am sure Aspen donated those), a necklace, and oodles of lint.  Oh I forgot buckets and buckets of water!  We were not quite expecting the flood we got as we removed it.  We also found the technician's guide on the back of the face plate we removed totally disregarding the statement, "Do not remove, technician's only."  I promptly removed it for myself and filed it under manuals for the next time we have a mystery repair.  But my washer is now happily washing away all the many many loads I am now behind on.

Scare Trows

In Sage's reading the have nonsense words that are not real words to test and see if they are really learning the different sound spellings or if they are just memorizing the words.  Well this weeks nonsense word was trow.  Which Sage informed me was not a nonsense word it was those things that farmers put in the fields to scare the birds. I told her those were scarecrows, and that is when Aspen pitched in and told me I was wrong and Sage was right they were ScareTROWS!  I started to laugh, usually when this happens I have to wait for Dad to get home and agree I am right, but thanks to the power of google I found a picture with the words SCARECROW!  They were quite disgusted, it is nice to occasionally be right, lol.

More on our trip to the Mall

These photos are from my phone so they aren't bad but they aren't stellar either. But I love how they are at least a memory from our day. This is Sage and Aspen at the mall after we went to the Build a Bear Workshop or the "Polar Bear Workshop" as Aspen calls it. I bought the girls their bears while I was pregnant with them and I remember holding the bears and thinking of my girls playing with them. Well they love them so much that they have worn out the speaker buttons in their paws that play the lullaby song. We took them in today and had the buttons replaced, they gave the bears new hair bows because they were so brave during the process and of course we had to get some new shirts for the bears. It was a fun hour spent at the workshop and the girls especially Aspen are THRILLED!

Image
Then we went to famous footwear to look at shoes.  Aspen put this one on herself while I was looking for sizes.  I did not know she could tie her own shoes, but apparently she can!  Self taught shoe tying now that is impressive.  Now if we could only get her to put them on the right feet!!
Image
This one was taken once we got home and Aspen showed me how she had relaced her new shoes to a better design, lol.  Trust Aspen to go outside the box.

If a picture is worth a thousand words?

"Santa" brought the girl's camera's for Christmas.  These aren't top of the line camera's but they aren't toys either.  They wanted real live cameras so luckily for Santa woot.com had a killer deal on 12 megapixel, 5x zoom Kodak cameras in purple and blue, perfect.  They have loved them and reviewing their photos has been enlightening and hilarious.  I thought I would share some of them with you.

First the enlightening:

Image
Realization of how dusty and hairy my vents and side wall of the fridge are.
Image
I didn't know my nice couch had received such a nasty scratch!
Image
oh yes, and if I ever want to nap, exercise, or anything else I would like some privacy during, I must remember to take the cameras away first!  But I shouldn't complain because the pets have taken the brunt of the picture taking.  I think we have a hundred of the bird and another hundred of the dog, but by far the most shots are of Quero.  I think it is because he just sits through all the flashes and takes it.  This was my favorite series.

Quero sleeping and hiding from the flash...

 Quero's tummy!

What?  I asked Aspen, the photographer, she immediately started laughing and said, "That is inside Quero's ear!"  Well of course it is, lol.

Not all their photos have turned out, Sage figured out how to turn the flash off, so half of hers were black for a while there and both have them have a hard time with the focus thing sometimes they remember and sometimes they don't.  Holding still for the 1/4 of a second that it takes to take the picture is also tough sometimes, but when you combine all of these faults and a christmas tree you can still get some cool shots!

Image
Next to the pets, Sage's second favorite subject is herself!  And she is quite good at the self portrait thing, having tried this myself I was surprised that it is not as easy as you would think!

Image
Image
Random fun, but of course a 6 year old would want  a picture of Grandma's light and Uncle Leon's feet.  Flipping through their shots is a bit like reliving your childhood and seeing the world through a child's eyes again.  But I have also been delightfully surprised at some of the wonderful shots they have gotten as well.

Sage put on a fashion show for Aspen, changing outfits for her to take pictures of, I might have thought it less cute at the time if I had realized how quickly their laundry basket filled with "dirty" clothes after it.

Cute Sage!

It will be fun to see what else comes out of these camera's in the months to come!  Heaven help us as they have discovered the video function on their cameras as well!

What a face!

Image
I took Sage to the orthodontist where my sister Katie works.  The girls got fake mustaches from the girl that works at the front desk.  They were ecstatic.  Sage got a gray one like her dad's (lol, I am sure he would love that) and Aspen got one to match her hair.  They had such a good time wearing them and goofing off.  Later they had them on as goatee's.

Black Friday

Image
It's no secret I am in love with Black Friday and get a little giddy when I think about it.  Check out my new bedspread, it came with the comforter, bedskirt, 2 pillow shams and 3 decorative pillows.  Want to guess how much I paid?  $35!!!!  I am so excited and it matches the paint and everything as well.

I am getting so excited for Christmas now, I can hardly wait to see how excited the girls are going to be when they see what they are getting!  I hope everyone's Christmas Shopping is going well as it is officially December!  Merry Christmas!
