I love it when....

my kids surprise me. Today has been a long day and I haven't had them with me. Erin watched them while I was at the church setting up an activity for Relief Society tonight. Brought the kids home and asked Lucas a very simple question - usually insights much tears and freaking out even over the simplest things for two reasons: 1: HUNGRY and 2: TIRED. I asked him to go use the bathroom and wash his hands and face.
He sits down on the floor and half yelled: "But I don't want to do those things, I just want to go to BED!"
Okay fine......go to bed then. :)
A few minutes later: "Mom, will you come tuck me in?"
Sure - haven't heard a peep from him since. Love this kid! :)

As the second kid, I'm realizing now I have very few pictures of Lucas by himself - need to work on that.

Do you know the Cupcake maker?!

This morning when Jeff was heading out to work, he found a plate of yummy brownies and card for me on the porch. (Luckily Jeff uses the front door now to get to his car or we may have never found the treats!) He told Lucas to come tell me there were brownies for me. Lucas comes RUNNING down the hall to my room. "Mom! There's cupcakes at the door!" Of course I already knew because he was "talking" about it by the front door - you'd be surprised how far his little voice carries.......
Me: "Really? Cupcakes?"
L: "Yes!!"
Me: "That's awesome - who brought em?"
L: "I don't know - the cupcake maker!?"
Ahhhhh, the infamous cupcake maker who leaves treats on your doorstep - Lucas' new best friend and fav neighbor Candace "the Cupcake Maker"  :)

Not your ordinary Breakfast

Jeff normally gives the kids breakfast before he heads for work - a baggie of cereal which they are perfectly happy to munch on while watching Disney. Normally I sleep in until the very last minute to get Lea ready and myself dressed enough to go to school. But today I needed to help Lea with her homework before school. I went to the kitchen to find Jeff dishing up 2-day old cookies still on the pan, pop-tarts and a baggie of fruit loops - Breakfast of Champions! Love you dear!

Also if you ever call me and just announce you're looking for a new job without a backup plan the day before my birthday, 6 months pregnant, I'll fire you myself!! :) So if you know of any good accounting positions opening in your area, send them our way - we are in the market for something new.

Thanks!

Thank you Shawna, Erin and Lisa for a fun night out - we all needed it! Went to Red Robin and to see "The Last Song". Although we were 4 of 8 in the theater, I still felt we were those chatty teenage girls who talked through the whole movie. Giggled at ALL the kissing scenes, cried on cue and even discussed how much we think Miley is a terrible actress......and I'm pretty sure the other 4 people couldn't hear us of course because they were behind us and we were in our own little world. :) Thank you girls and thank you husbands for watching kids and NOT CALLING so we could have a stress free night. :)

Please help me....

To whom it may concern:

I'd like a door that closes without smashing fingers. I'm getting tired of saying "CLOSE THE DOOR!" and hearing "Why?" "For the same reason I told you that last 4 THOUSAND TIMES in the past 30 seconds." Also needs to have bug zapping ability to keep the bugs out where they belong.

I'd also like my next child to be a little less Risencrazy and a little more Sorensen calm. I'm not sure I can handle any more chaos, tempers and endless amounts of energy........

Last but not least, I'd like a self-cleaning kitchen. One that doesn't involve myself as the self part.

Signed,
Tired, cranky and in desperate need of a long undisturbed nap :)

PS: My birthday is next week!!!

Baseball 2010

Can you smell it!? The smell of freshly cut grass, chalk lines in the dirt, and sweaty gloves. If you're still under a pile of snow, then you have no idea what I'm talking about. But trust me. My allergies will tell you that spring is here! And that means BASEBALL! Lea played t-ball a couple years ago and well, she was less than interested in playing. Mind you she was only 4, but this year I asked if she'd like to play and she excitedly said YES! Too bad on the way to the first practice, she was whining about not wanting to play......too late girl. So off we go to the baseball fields every Saturday - it's been a lot of fun and Lea has really improved since she started. She's playing coach pitch and is getting a hit every time at bat. The first game, she had to hit off the tee every time, now she gets a hit on the first or second pitch - couldn't be more proud!

Lea, Morghan Farris and Emily Hale
(these girls are at the top of the age range and Lea is one of the youngest - she really admires these two girls as do I. They are great athletes and all around great girls!)

New uniforms, 1st game! Go Cardinals!

So close! Coach Steve Farris coming to help out.
He's been an excellent coach - working with Lea during the game to practice her fielding and throwing.

What do you see?

Image
A quote from some Disney channel show when a mom was asked why (by her teenage daughter) she had another baby:
"Well, because 3 was too easy. 3 is for quitters." As she stands there with baby food and puke all over her clothes......   :)
HE is due Aug 18th and delivered on Wed, Aug 11, 2010 as a scheduled c-section.
