Because God Love's Us

How is Christ’s Birth Significant to me Talk on 12/20/2020 Good Morning Brothers and Sisters & Merry Christmas!   Heavenly Father must know my preferred method for giving a talk is procrastinating because I have been called to fill in last minute on many occasions.   However, this is the first time it’s happened on Christmas Sunday.   But I am happy to be here with you and I’m so grateful for technology that allows us to meet and worship together, especially during this Christmas season.   I’m not gonna lie, this is weird speaking on zoom.   I much prefer being together and making eye contact with you and seeing your encouraging smiles.   So please bear with any awkwardness I may have.   When initially asked to speak, Brother Smith gave me the topic of “How Christ’s birth is significant to me.”   My initial response was, could that topic be any broader?   But then gratefully he followed it up with “Particularly from the prosp...

Christmas Letter 2019

I found this Christmas letter I wrote last year but never sent out.  So for all inquiring minds but mostly so I can have it documented here it is. Sending Christmas cards is one of my favorite things to do.   I remember sending full page letters when Jeff and I were newlyweds with no kids and nothing to report. Makes me laugh just thinking about that.   And now that I have 4 wonderful kids and tons to report on, yet it didn’t happen this year and I’m so sad about it. I couldn’t send nothing, so a digital note will have to do this year. So here’s the rundown: Parker – 10 – Succeeding in 5 th grade, loves reading, playing the clarinet, loves all sports and games, and is almost as competitive as his mom. This year he tried baseball for the first time as well as indoor soccer.  Both were very different experiences but he has learned so much from both. He also loves running. He came in 21/600 racers (kids and adults) in a local 5K, we were all blown away! Emily – 9 –...

TALK: Making The Gospel THE priority in Our Lives

You see this right here?   This is me sustaining my husband.   ;)   There were a few sudden change of plans so he kindly asked me to fill in with the comment that I was on the list of speakers for next month anyway but I’m not sure I believe him. But regardless, thanks Brother Score for this opportunity to speak. INTRO I feel like everyone knows me since I grew up in the ward, but we’ve also had a lot of new families move in so I thought I’d give a little into. Rebecca Score married to Jeff Score Celebrating our 10 th anniversary this year which doesn’t seem possible We have 4 kids, 2 boys and 2 girls ranging in age form 7 to 1 We both grew up in the ward and actually both of our parents are still in this ward too If we haven’t met it is probably because I’m serving in the primary   I was asked to speak about Making the Gospel a priority in our lives but not just a priority, THE main priority in our lives.   As I was thinking about what...

Kid's Talks

Riley’s Primary Talk on Baptism 3/15/20 Today I want to talk on Baptism.   Being baptized is a commandment from Heavenly Father.   We have to be baptized to make it back to Him.   Even Jesus Christ was baptized.   If Jesus Christ was baptized we should be baptized too.   When we turn 8 years old we can choose to follow Jesus Christ’s example and be baptized too.   When we are baptized and confirmed we become members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.     If you have already been baptized, you should remember the covenants, or promises you made.   If you have not been baptized, you should study and pray and keep the commandments so that when you turn 8 years old you will be ready. We should all remember how important baptism is.   I am really excited I get to be baptized next year.   In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen Faith Parker’s Talk   2/16/20   Today, my talk is going to be about f...

Take up Your Cross

Earlier this year the other ward asked me to speak in their Sacrament meeting.  The day I spoke a member of my bishopric heard me talking and then kindly ask if i'd speak in our ward too since I already had a talk prepared.  Both were on the same topic but slightly different  but here is the main gist of it. Rebecca’s talk given in CV2 on 1/26/20 & CV3 2/16/20   As I pondered what to speak on today, brother Strattford said they’d been asking people to speak on experiences that have changed them for the better.   The more I thought about it, the more a realized that the most profound experiences I’ve had have been the result of my biggest trials.   Trials equal growth. I Loved Elder Ulisses Soares of the quorum of the twelve apostles talk from the last General Conference, it was titled “Take Up Our Cross.” In it he says, “We all face adverse circumstances in our lives that make us feel sad, helpless, hopeless, and sometimes even weakened.” ...
