"One on One" are you the good "One"

Have you ever had that one person that just stood out? Listening to Smile Doctors podcast with Scott Law.  "Smile Doctors Off Mute"  2 episodes in - Dr. Dan Keith and Social Media with Justin Chalender. both of them made the statement that brought them to Orthodontics was a Dr. reaching out directly to them and being interested and helping them to see their own strengths be used and grow.  This was a flash back to my kind of "one on one" if you will.

I had worked with a certain doctor for a few years in Cedar Hill.  Due to life circumstances I moved back to the main office in Plano working on the financial side of things instead of the face to face.  This Dr. had told me how sad she was to see me go and how much she valued me and my work ethic.  About 3 months later I needed to reach out to that office and spoke with the lady I had trained to take over when I left.  I kind of had to bring her to front (wow is that right. She was making errors) I was as nice as I could and thought I had helped her to understand the Why behind the way things needed to be done. We ended the call with a laugh. about 20 min later I got called into my bosses office with this dr on the phone.  She told me to "step off" essentially.  That this new lady was in her office and knew how things were going and that I did not know and that I had no right to yell and upset her.

I was blown away at being treated this way as if I had never worked with her. I tried to explain and she interrupted me and told me to not talk to her staff anymore and that I made the choice to leave and not have a say any more.

Long story short, my CEO listened to the call and things were made right on what needed to be done. But  the "relationship and respect" was gone between us.

My "One on One" with a Dr was not a progression to want to follow. I have worked with sooo many wonderful doctors. I mean hey, married one. The ones that can be personal and not a title, "Dr", are the ones that have made it and progressed, reached out and helped others to grow.

To me the best "One on One" reach outs are those that enjoy what "they" do and want others to enjoy what "they" do. I have had soo many wonderful "One on Ones" with those in the business and financial side that have made me want to do and learn more.

January 2015

We are moving to Pennsylvania...........So we had a few lasts, a few hurried things, a few bumped up, and then a few extended.
Some last runs on the power wheels with friends. Dawson, Michael, Zack and Kassidy.

We celebrated Zack and Kassidy's Birthday's with Grandma and Grandpa Conlin.  Kassidy's birthday is the 4th and Zacks in the 7th.  We were planning to be on the road on the 1st or 2nd.

The phone call of "Shame"..........Zack needed a hair cute and asked Tristan for help.  Tristan took the guard off the razor and cut big chunks out of Zack's hair.  So he got the same hair cut that he gave to Zack.  We called his Mom to let her know and then he talked to Grandma Conlin.  He was pretty upset.

Some pictures from our drive.... There are sooooo many bridges.

Our home came with a new friend.  Chandler.  He has down syndrome and has taken a little bit of a liking to our family.  Kass has taken a liking to having someone to play with.  Some times he is a little rough, but he loves to cuddle. We just have to keep firm on things we need him to do, or not to do. But all in all it is pretty fun.

Loving the hat from a care package from Grandma Conlin.  When you squeeze the paw then the tail in the back goes up and down.

There has been plenty of snow to get used to, and to have fun in.

We had fun in the two weeks that Kassidy did not have school.  So we did a few craft projects to decorate our walls in the dining room.
