Puppy, etc.

ImageHow cute! I bet I was bribeing him with a treat. :) Mainly cause Nate was scratching him just before the pic.

ImageMr. Fluffy Ears. I am kinda glad the rest of him got fluffier

ImageThis was Jackson's first canoe trip. And he was trippin'. He wanted to be on dry land, maybe in the canoe, but NOT in the water. I told him he was at least half lab and he was not impressed at all. He does swim well.

ImageI finally got to redo the spare bathroom. Nate started peeling the wall paper, I stepped in to pick the little pieces (and parts of the wall) off, Tim and Rachel cleaned up our mess and behind the toilet. Thanks ya'll!!

ImageJackson loves his rope inside, yes he comes inside. Nate said he missed me while I sat outside with Jackson and it was sad when I was sitting out in the rain. He is so good to us :) .

ImageCapone, Nate, and Jackson. This was time-out for two rambunctious dogs.

ImageThey play so well!

ImageCapone and Jackson's favorite new game is tug-of-war. Capone is still stronger and has more weight so he pulled Jackson all over the yard. It was so funny, the yard was so messed up when they were done, and they made so much noise but were so freindly. It was like "Grrrrrr" and "Grrrr" and Capone would try to have a bigger growl than Jackson (he does) and Jackson would try to have a bigger growl (not a chance).

New post... it's been a while

Image
I have so many pictures and stories to share, here are a few.
Image
This is Nate and Jackson reading the paper in the morning. Well, Jackson is chewing on a bone, but if he could read I bet he would be reading over Nate's shoulder.

Image
I can't believe how much he has changed. I guess since he didn't have a gradual change between puppy hair and big boy hair it is more noticable. He went from puppy hair, to almost no hair, to big boy hair.

What did I get for my birthday?

Well, I don't know everything yet because my birthday is tomorrow. But I got some money and bought myself some camping gear. Big Surprise.
As I was thinking of stuff to buy (of course it is stuff I would never buy for myself) I thought a lot about what I have really wanted for a while. When ever someone tells me they got something for me I always wanted to guess what it was. Most of the guesses were extreme like a new car or a trip to Europe. Usually my first guess was the same. Who knows what it was? Greg? Nate? Dad? What did I always guess? ... A puppy. Ha! Well, now I have one and it just isn't as much fun to guess anymore. Maybe cause I didn't really want anything else as much as I wanted a puppy. I did want to get puppy toys and Nate said that is what we get Jackson on his birthday. So, on the eve of the annual celebration of the day of my birth I am preparing for the big day in the best way I can think of: Sitting on my patio, with Nate and my puppy. I grabbed the camera, turned it on, shoved it into Nate's hand and demanded a picture of Jackson and I being cute. Gosh, I just can't think of anything I would rather have than Nate and my puppy.

Last Beginner's Obedience Class

Image

This was our last Beginner's Obedience Class. They pulled out some pretty tricky distractions for sit-stay practice, like kid toys on a rope that make a lot of noise when you pull them. Jackson was pretty scared of them. They also had a furry looking thing on a rope and I thought it looked enough like a rabbit that Jackson would want to chase it all the way across the room. Instead as it came towards him he wanted to run away!! It is really funny because I have him sit-stay on our walks because he will see bunnies and want to chase them. I guess I never thought of what it would be like for the bunnies to chase him!! Silly puppy. They gave us some dog biscuits and we will get a certificate in the mail. This was the best picture from the class cause Jackson and I (I am in the yellow shirt) were finally still. Thanks Nate for taking the pictures. I was not the only one who conned someone into taking pictures. I saw another camera and a piture phone. I am so proud of Jackson for all of his progress. CONGRATULATIONS JACKSON!

Due to popular demand...

Image
I think most of you will agree that the puppy pictures are the best so I have decided to go ahead and put my favorites up. These are the ones I have on my screen saver at work because I do not have enough wall space for the pictures. And I think Brock would make fun of them until I took them down. :)

This is Jackson with Ashlee the day after he came to our home. His eyes are still blue.

Image
I really like this picture. It looks like he is really happy and he still has his fluffy puppy hair.

ImageThis is my Hallmark Card picture of my puppy. he is almost 2 months old here, or 8 weeks. It wasn't long after this that he started losing his hair and I stopped taking pictures for a while. There are some, but he would be so embarrased if I posted them. Besides, his hair all grew back and he looks very handsome now with his big boy hair. He is still very soft and his hair gets really fluffy and spikey when it is wet.

a long time coming

Image
This is a group pic from the bachellorette weekend. We are missing Punky and the SIL-to-be. I thought about how late I am for keeping up with the news so I am doing a bit of back tracking for events I want to share. We had a great time at the zoo, brewery, etc. Congratulations to Tim and Rachel!! (Hey, post some honeymoon pics on your blog)

Now on to my favorite topic...

Jackson!

ImageThis picture, and several to follow are of Jackson and his friend Capone. I think they are so cute together cause they play very well and Jackson looks like a mini-Capone. The first pic has Capone in front and Jackson in back. They were so tired after playing for so long. What long tounges! Thanks, RC and Ashlee for bringing Capone up to visit us.

ImageHere you can kinda see how Jackson is smaller than Capone. Jackson is about half the weight and a little shorter. But he is over a year younger than Capone, too. Capone is telling Jackson that is HIS toy and Jackson is just trying to get Capone out in the yard to chew on his ears and neck some more. They get so slobbery!!

ImageThis is Jackson getting serious about wanting to play. "Hello, Capone! I know you are all grown up but I still want to play!!" -Jackson

ImageI guess if Jackson wants to chew on Capone it is only fair that they take turns. Capone is sporting the fancy leather collar and Jackson is a poor little puppy with no collar on. It would have been drenched in slobber anyway.

First Pictures

ImageThis is Jackson when he was a little baby. It was the day after we brought him home and he was so tiny and fluffy. He was about 6 weeks old. For the first few weeks I was overwhelmed by how much responsibility he was and several times I talked to Nate about giving him back. I was totally unprepaired for the crying, feeding, pottying, and nipping. I read some "puppies for dummies" books and they made me feel like I was not doing enough for him. Then I found the puppy class. It was 6 weeks later, but I was still so frustrated and lost. Puppy class really helped. They told me what to do when he was nipping, they told me I was doing the right things. I mean, look at that face. I would look at it and think what am I supposed to do now? I thought he would know that I didn't know what I was doing and he would be disappointed in me. Yeah, he is a dog, but when I took him home I made a commitment to keep him safe, healthy, loved, and trained. Now we have started the obedience training and he and I are doing much better. I would recommend both puppy class and obedience class to anyone with a dog. He has really grown up. I am glad I didn't give him back.

Jackson

Image
Here is a picture of my "big" boy Jackson. I wish I would have had the blog for all the pictures I have taken of him since he was 5.5 weeks old. Maybe I will add some later. I think I already sent a mass e-mail with this picture to everyone I know with an e-mail address, but I just can't help myself. We go to our first Obedience class with Jackson tomorrow. We have been practicing the few things from last week at the oreintation class.

A new beginning...

I have no idea how blogging will work for me. I was so inspired by a few friend's blogs that I thought someone may be interested in what is happening with me. I have never kept a journal or written to a pen pal consistently. This will be an experiment. Wish me luck.
