OK, that is actually a re-creation based on actual events. Hmmm, that shirt sure looks a little big - yeah, maybe because it is mine. She has borrowed a few shirts before, usually ones that were on the brink of being too small for me anyway, but this is one of my maternity shirts, I mean, seriously! I guess she decided she liked it when she was folding the laundry yesterday so she just decided to add it to her pile - crazy kid. When Robie asked me why I let her go to school like that, she started laughing and said she tucked it into her jacket because she didn't want to get caught. oh my.

wardrobe malfunction?
Every once in a while I help out at the school in the girls' classrooms. Today I finished up with Ashley's class, walked her to the playground for recess, and found Brooke coming in from her recess. This is what I saw:

Economic Fix
This is the commercial I heard on the radio today (I'm paraphrasing because I wasn't really paying that much attention), "Right now the economy is rough on everyone. That's why it's the perfect time to get someone something they wouldn't be able to buy for themselves. Buy them their own star with the star registry." OK, now I'm sure sales are down with the star registry people, but seriously? A radio ad to up the sales, trying to make it sound like it is somehow intelligent economically to buy your friend a star. Actually, I was looking for a graphic for this little blog and I realized their marketing people may not be total idiots. They do also offer a "Stuffed Animal/Star" package, where you get a little stuffed animal and then you get to name your own star - come on the kids would love that (I'm actually surprised we haven't gotten one already). I bought 15, so check your mail boxes.
That is a 9x13 pan that used to be full of brownies. You can't prove that I ate most of them (unless you go with me to the dr and watch me get weighed in anyway, ha ha). Seriously, I like chocolate, but I could normally go a week without any and be fine. Right now, if I go a day it is miraculous. I haven't found any studies yet, but I'm hoping there is a connection between adult males heights and the amount of chocolate their mother ate while they were in the womb.

can you say, spoiled?
The weather has been beautiful this week, so as we were sweating on Tuesday, I told the kids we could go swimming after school on Friday. It was a little chillier, so I thought they were crazy, but of course, they weren't about to drop the idea...
when I told Brooke how spoiled they were to be swimming outside in March, she just looked at me a little surprised and asked if it was still cold in some places.. so spoiled they don't even know it.

Just kidding, but he did pump it up to take it over to Costco and it didn't end up being too big of a deal - good thing we live close :)
Got the results of the MRI yesterday. The ligaments and meniscus are all in good shape (good news), so the dr thinks the pain is from a focal lesion they found which is probably a bone bruise or a bruise on the articular cartilage (just a little mass on the MRI, I guess) and it might take 2 or 3 more months to heal (which for a person with very little patience is not exactly happy news). He did do a steroid shot today to hopefully jump start the healing process. He said it might be a little sore for the next couple of days, but it hurt A LOT last night - I must have a low pain tolerance. Should be better by Monday and then the waiting continues...
Nothing welcomes you to a nice Saturday morning like waking up to a flat tire. Luckily, Robie is really handy with the air pump, so we're good to go.

what a talent
Honestly, my brain is just not all there. The other day Brooke had a birthday party and she wanted to give the girl a bracelet - so we came up with a cute bracelet and hopefully the little girl liked it. While I had my stuff out, I've been meaning to make a bracelet for myself to match the a necklace I like wearing. I like the way it turned out, except for one minor problem.
I tried to put it on and realized I had put only the circle part of the toggle on... so lame. I haven't even had the heart to restring it yet.
Weird thought - One of our neighbors had a "Sweet Sixteen" sign up on their house the other day, which made the girls ask what that means. So what does that mean? Is it just a saying like "terrible twos?" or is it still the whole hasn't been kissed, blah, blah? So many important issues to deal with.

so nice.. private parts?
We don't live that far from our cousins but we still just don't hang out with them enough. We had a fun night the other night. As much as I love playing games, I definitely prefer when my kids play the games with their cousins and I get to chat (although ideally, they would play games and then I would play games with the adults, but lets not push our luck, right?).
Anyway, it was also nice because Robie and I had gone to the fetal echocardiogram earlier in the day and and the cardiologist gave us the all clear. I have been feeling like it was going to be ok, but ironically that was starting to make me feel like maybe there was really something wrong. Like I had been given this peace because I would need to deal with something major (talk about paranoia). They basically performed an ultraound similar to the ones we had seen before, but with a few settings different and with a cardiologist watching. They pretty much only looked at the heart, although the ultrasonographer also felt some strong need to show us another shot of the "boy parts." Maybe I'm still just not used to that, but I still found it odd when she was shaking the part on my belly so that the baby would move around and she could get a good shot. In fact, the only picture we got was of his private parts. Hilarious, and a little bizarre.

The smell of clean
We got the new laptop this week, which is fantastic, EXCEPT I can't exactly find all the cd's for the applications that I thought I had (don't worry Itunes and the internet are up and running) but I can't download the pictures yet so I don't have any pictures to demonstrate our wonderful week (sure, I could put them on the old computer, but where's the challenge in that?).

We did, however, have a typically productive Saturday in which we did a ton of working out/cleaning/yard work/manual labor in the morning and then basically lounged around and let the house fall apart in the afternoon (ok, that's just me, Robie had Brooke out on a fun mountain bike ride and the girls were playing house out on the trampoline). Anyway, I did some serious scrubbing in the tubs, etc, this morning, which I only realized must be a pretty rare occurrence when Ashley came in and asked me "what's that smell?" Yeah, that's right, she didn't recognize the smell of household cleaners. Clorox wipes, no problem, but the serious full force Soft Scrub, nope. Sad.

Don't really hide and then I'll find you
In my ongoing effort to be a decent mom, I decided to play a game with Lauren today. I even let her pick the game, which is how we ended up playing Hide and Seek. Apparently, though, she doesn't like the traditional rules of playing (close your eyes and count while the other person hides, don't tell them where you are going to go, etc.) which means that when it was her turn, she told me where she was going and then when she got all situated, THEN it was ok for me to count and come looking. Imagine her dismay when I announced that not only was I going to count while she found a place to hide, but I wasn't going to tell her where I was hiding. Lucky for her, I was willing to call out from my hiding place numerous times until she delightedly located my secret "behind each different door in the house" hiding locations.
One of my favorite observations reminded me that the other girls did the same thing at her age - also using the "wherever the other person just hid is where I'm going to hide next." I think she's still a little mad that I didn't listen when she told me I should hide under Ashley's bed (after she hid there), maybe next time ?
I will say, her tactics are NOT really effective if you don't want to be found, but I'm pretty sure she wants to be located and to locate others as quickly as possible. Mission accomplished.

just don't get it...
OK, a new laptop is on its way - in fact, it will be here in a couple of days. Just a reminder that if the Tylers have the chance to buy an extended warranty on any electronic item, they should do it (yippee) - because nothing much electronic lasts around here for more than a couple years (just ask the broken camcorder and cameras in the drawer right now). Anyway, in the meantime I have been using my Ipod to cruise the internet which has been fantastic for reading other people's blogs (not great for commenting or updating my own, sadly)- checking out random news stories, and even trying my hand again at Sodoku. Seriously, I can not do it. I am generally good with numbers, but I have never been able to succesfully complete even one hand (on the easiest setting). It is really pitiful. Last night I just kept pushing the "hint" button until almost the whole thing was filled in and I just had to go back and change my first 4 that I tried to fill in myself incorrectly. Finished in record time.

maybe I should switch to wordsearches - I'm pretty good at those - at least that's what the girls say when they ask me to find their hard words on the word searches they are working on at church (hey, at least it's not the crochet they took to Stake Conference - sketchy I know). Anyway, I think I have a friend that is going to teach me some tips and tricks and then I am going to become a Sodoku master - or maybe that was just another weird pregnancy dream...
