Ogden Utah 1/2 Marathon May 16, 2009

Packet Pick up Station-I have never felt so out of place in my life. I was intimidated by all the people, I did not consider myself to be a runner and these people were completely looking the part. Now that I have completed my first 1/2 marathon, I guess am now a runner.

Here I am in the parking garage as Bryan is taking me to the bus. It is 4:45 in the morning. Running is an odd sport as you get up at a ridiculous hour and you pay to run on a road for hours. Even though it was early morning I had been awake for hours worrying.
I love it! We were bused to Eden Park, where they had music blarring, fire barrels burning to stay warm, rows of port-o-potties( to which all the toilet paper got stolen from the night before), people mingling, stretching and jumping to stay warm and a giant blimp watching over us from above!!
Running and Running!! This picture is probably about mile 9 or 10. My legs started to turn to jell-o about mile 11. It is amazing how strong your mind can be over your body, I wanted to stop so bad but I knew the finish was so close. I just kept thinking of Bryan and the kids at the finish and how happy I was going to be to see them. Thanks Beyonce and "All the Single Ladies" You really pushed me through to the finish. :)

The finish line crowd! What a sweet site the finish line was!!

I have know idea who this is running across the line but we ran the last 1/2 mile together and crossed the finish together. What an amazing feeling, knowing you just ran 13.1 miles, pushed your body, broke down muscles, emotions and conquered all.

My family was there to cheer me on- Thanks guys! At the race they have the runners blocked off from the crowd, inside the fence there are vendors to feed the runners (Great Harvest Bread, Jamba Juice, Creamies) Madison saw they were giving away Popsicles so I had to get her one.

Thanks to Mom and Charly for making the trek to Ogden to watch me finish!!
This is me being proud of my self and then immediately going to shower.
This was an incredible journey for me, I have worked hard and I think I trained well and I DID IT!! Thanks to my friend and running partner Megs!! She pushed me even when I whined and cried because it was hard!! She didn't put up with any of my crap!
My goal was to finish in 2:20:00
My finish time was 2:04:29
