Fall Fun

Fall is such a great time of year, although the dreaded Winter season is around the corner. We decided to get in some fresh fall mountain air and headed up to Dry Fork to hike. Madi had a leaf craft for us all to do as well, Paper, Glue, and nature!!

Kade got really creative with his leaves and sticks and made a tree, with a deer by it. Good job Kade, way to put some thought into it. What a kid!!!

I made a Halloween-scape with moons, witch on a broom, and a scarecrow.

Madison's art was a pumpkin with a moon made of dirt. ImageBryan made a mountain with a meadow and then he made a beach complete with palm trees and beach chairs. Image

Dash-N-Splash Softball Tourny

Grantsville Dash N Splash was a succcess!! Team Extreme has been together for about 4 weeks as a team and placed 2nd out of 12 teams. I couldn't be more proud as a mom and a coach. We played 5 games on Friday with only 1 loss. Saturday we played 3 games with only 1 loss. These girls played their hearts out and lost the championship game by only 1 point in over time.
Talk about heart!! Madison did a great job on first base and got some great hits, she is such a strong player and has a love for the game. Good Job sis!!

Father's Day

Happy Father's Day Bryan-Here's to the best guy in the whole world!!
Thanks for being such a great dad and husband I love you!!
ImageThe kids got him a "jewelry box" for his watch collection and surprise another watch. This time an exercise watch Garmin Forerunner 310xt. I love my running watch and I don't share it so I thought it would be a great idea to get his own. This one he can run, swim and bike with, it tracks his pace, mileage and time.

ImageImageMadison giving him a Father's Day massage with "The Stick" the best thing ever made. It was made for runners to warm up their muscles and for them to rub tight muscles after a long run. It has been well used at our home.

"Savadison" Sleepover

Madison and Savannah had a sleepover and made this amazing work of art that they called a fort. Uncle Craig helped them design it with barstools, a suitcase, a bench, a trunk and 2 blankets. This is where they slept, watched a movie and ate popcorn. I peeked in on them in the middle of the night, to see them squished under the barstool and uncovered. They said they slept good and had a fun time so that is all that counts!!

Ogden 1/2 Marathon

Image Ogden Utah 1/2 Marathon

Packet Pick up Station-I have never felt so out of place in my life. I was intimidated by all the people, I did not consider myself to be a runner and these people were completely looking the part. Now that I have completed my first 1/2 marathon, I guess am now a runner.

ImageHere I am in the parking garage as Bryan is taking me to the bus. It is 4:45 in the morning. Running is an odd sport as you get up at a ridiculous hour and you pay to run on a road for hours. Even though it was early morning I had been awake for hours worrying.
I love it! We were bused to Eden Park, where they had music blarring, fire barrels burning to stay warm, rows of port-o-potties( to which all the toilet paper got stolen from the night before), people mingling, stretching and jumping to stay warm and a giant blimp watching over us from above!!

Running and Running!! This picture is probably about mile 9 or 10. My legs started to turn to jell-o about mile 11. It is amazing how strong your mind can be over your body, I wanted to stop so bad but I knew the finish was so close. I just kept thinking of Bryan and the kids at the finish and how happy I was going to be to see them. Thanks Beyonce and "All the Single Ladies" You really pushed me through to the finish. :)

ImageThe finish line crowd! What a sweet site the finish line was!!

ImageI have know idea who this is running across the line but we ran the last 1/2 mile together and crossed the finish together. What an amazing feeling, knowing you just ran 13.1 miles, pushed your body, broke down muscles, emotions and conquered all.

Image
My family was there to cheer me on- Thanks guys! At the race they have the runners blocked off from the crowd, inside the fence there are vendors to feed the runners (Great Harvest Bread, Jamba Juice, Creamies) Madison saw they were giving away Popsicles so I had to get her one.

Image
Thanks to Mom and Charly for making the trek to Ogden to watch me finish!!

Image ImageImageYes, I wear that stupid bandanna, I sweat so much and I hate when it drips in my eyes, so I sacrifice beauty. Who looks good when they run anyway?
This is me being proud of my self and then immediately going to shower.
This was an incredible journey for me, I have worked hard and I think I trained well and I DID IT!! Thanks to my friend and running partner Megs!! She pushed me even when I whined and cried because it was hard!! She didn't put up with any of my crap!
My goal was to finish in 2:20:00
My finish time was 2:04:29

LEAP.......

I did it!! I just made a big leap....... I signed up for the Logan Top of Utah Full Marathon to be held September 19, 2009, I hope I don't fall on my face.
I have talked about this since September 08 when my BF Tifany called and said "Let's run a marathon". Never did I imagine myself as a runner, but just finishing strong in the Ogden 1/2(blog to come) I feel like it is a goal I am so close to and can accomplish and then cross off the bucket list. So here goes training for a full marathon!!
