Here goes another one.

South Korea will continue to ban same sex relations due to the fact that they are worried about the military's combat readiness.

Anyone who violates this law can face up to 2 years in prison. 

Activists are not happy about this. 

"This continued endorsement for the criminalization of consensual same-sex acts within the Korean military is a distressing setback in the decades-long struggle for equality in the country," Boram Jang, Amnesty International's East Asia researcher, said in a statement after Thursday's ruling.

Apparently, the new Speaker of the House of Representatives is so anti-gay that he once wanted  gay sex made illegal. 

His name is Mike Johnson, a Republican, and he's being denounced by more than one advocacy group.

ABC reports that in a 2003 column for a Louisiana newspaper, Johnson wrote: “There is clearly no ‘right to sodomy’ in the Constitution. And the right of ‘privacy of the home’ has never placed all activity with the home outside the bounds of the criminal law.”

Because no straight couple ever did sodomy? Is he joking?

Yesterday I posted about 76 gay Nigerians getting arrested for planning a gay wedding. Now they are calling it a with hunt and asking for Nigerian authorities to end it. 

The director of amnesty international in Nigeria had this to say:

“No one should be targeted and arrested because of their actual or perceived sexual orientation and gender identity. The Nigeria Police should be prioritizing keeping everyone safe, not stoking more discrimination.”

There were allegedly more than 70 arrested in Nigeria for trying to organize a gay wedding. 

"We apprehended 76 suspected homosexuals at a birthday party organised by one of them who was due to marry his fiancé at the event," said Buhari Saad, the spokesman for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Gombe State, a paramilitary organisation under the government.

“You’ve heard us talk before about the abhorrent nature of so-called conversion therapy [and] that no one should be harmed or harassed for who they are.”

Among other things conversion therapy has been called inhumane. Sadly, research shows that at least 7% of the population has experienced some form of conversion therapy. Human rights attorneys considered it degrading and harmful. 

It's worth the read. There are still places here in the US that practice this.

Apparently, after the attack on Israel a group of Harvard students penned a letter blaming Israel for the massacres committed by Hamas. 

Harvard President believes the school has a right to embrace and promote free expression and she has been trying to quell the outrage. 

In spite of a great deal of criticism she had made a point of stating this:

“We do not punish or sanction people for expressing such views, but that is a far cry from endorsing them.”
