where in the world

Image
The last week has completely turned our world upside down. We've been in limbo f.o.r.e.v.e.r! We didn't know where we were going after Ry's masters, so many job options, so many different places - and now we know. Yay!

But, it is far away from our families and many of our friends. So - we are turning our blog private so that we can post more personal info about our lives - house pictures, our move, specifics about the place we live & our adventures...

So...if you want to know where we're headed and to keep up with our lives, send me your email address (if I don't already have it) so I can invite you to our soon-to-be private family blog. Super exciting! You can leave a comment with it, send it to me via facebook, or my email at barb.themomblog(at)gmail(dot)com

I'm growing up!

I hate being alone at night when Ryan is out of town. Hate. Which is funny cause when I was single I could handle it no problem. Even when my roommates were gone and I was completely alone - no big deal. But now that I'm used to having a man their to protect me (and to cuddle with) - I hate the feel of the empty bed next to me and how quiet the house is.

So usually when he's out of town I make (make isn't the right word - she loves it) my mom come stay on our couch. That way I actually sleep instead of tossing and turning.

Well, we're going on day 3 of 4 with Ry in Oklahoma on a business trip and I am proud to announce - I've been successfully single-momming it up the past few days with no problems. Even at night! And sleeping. Although the sleep might be induced by the ridiculous fatigue after a day of caring for 2 monkeys alone. But that's okay with me!

I decided it was time I grow up and be able to be alone at night again. Especially since we're more than likely moving out of state and the business trips probably won't stop then. So yay for me!

Yay for Sadie for being such a big helper. And a huge shout out to my sis Carrie for coming to hold Tucker (who is becoming colicky) while I bathe Sadie at nighttime so he's not left alone to scream his head off. Seriously - thank you. Tucker thanks you too.

Can't wait to see my honey tomorrow night!

i may have slightly lost my mind

At least it was only temporary - I think I've found it again. Hence, the lack of posts. And the cop-out picture post I am about to do, yet again...but really, this is my life right now. Taking care of these two little monkeys...so, here are more pictures!

Snow White sleeping in her castle.

SO cute! Little skinny man with the big lips & wrinkly skin. I could cuddle him all day.

Image

Cinderella holding her baby brother, King Tucker. She likes to move his chin and make him "say" things. It's hilarious! My favorite is when she gives him a big kiss and then makes him say "ew, ew, ew" - she came up with that on her own. Funny girl.

Image

Falling asleep holding baby brother. The boppy is the best invention ever! So handy when she wants to hold him.

Image

Making banana bread with mommy after church.

Image

Sadie found these crochet hat things and decided they were our crowns. Maybe we wore them in the car to run errands...yes, people looked at me funny. But hey - I was having fun with my 2 year old. Let 'em look!

Image

Sadie fell asleep on the couch again - Tucker was asleep too, we momentarily laid him by her for this picture. She looks huge next to him!

Image

Tucker is doing awesome! He's growing so fast - which can be attributed to his awesome eating and the 22 hrs a day he sleeps. Wish I could sleep that long - well, maybe not that long. But 8 hours uninterrupted would be great! He's so fun to cuddle.

10 days of awesome

I sure feel blessed - I love my little family so much! Bringing home Tucker and having him join our family feels super natural - like he's always been a part of us. Just like it was with Sadie. Sadie loves him so much (as you can see in the following pictures) and is an awesome big sister!

Image

She is super helpful and if he's crying she'll come running to him with his binky in hand saying "It's okay buddy, big sister is here!" But my favorite - when he cries during a bum change she'll hold his hand, pat his head and say "I know it's hard to be a baby. I know buddy." - she is adorable! And he loves her too.

So far the transition hasn't been hard at all (granted Ryan has been home all week) - but even when it's just been me and the kids, it's been fine. So that's good. The only transition that was really hard was de-spoiling Sadie after she spent the weekend with a very loving, pushover grandma that gave her everything she wanted (thanks mom!). But I think we're past that now.

So here is the first little bit of Tucker's life in pictures...
