Quotable Quote

" I bend to sweep crumbs and I bend to wipe vomit and I bend to pick up
little ones and wipe away tears... And at the end of these days I bend next to
the bed and I ask only that I could bend more, bend lower. Because I serve a
Savior who came to be a servant. He lived bent low. And bent down here is where I see His face. And people say, “Don’t you get tired?” and yes, I do. But I’m face to face with Jesus in the dirt, and the more I bend the harder and better and fuller this life gets. And sure, we are tired, but oh we are happy. Because bent down low is where we find fullness
of Joy.” ― Katie J.Davis

Ava's Birthday-Canyon

We had the blessing of going up Hobble Creek Canyon with some of our favorite family, Jackie and Gary, and Annie and Trev. We decided to bring Ava's birthday cake up and celebrate because it was the day before her 8th birthday.

I want to share a few things about Ava that you may or may not know.
1. She loves babies! She has always been such a little mama.
2. She is very stubborn and when cornered will fight to the death. Definitely my most aggressive child in her own way.
3. She is so sweet and every time we go to my sister Annie's she spends a lot of her time with Trevan, her cousin who is handicapped. She truly enjoys being with him.
4. She was such a smiley baby. Much more smiley than my others.
5. She is laid back and a dream in the car. She never gets anxious or asks a lot of questions about when we will be there. Totally opposite of Gracie.
6. She says SO many comical things. I can't even begin to list them all. Some of the things that she comes up with really take me back. Nothing gets by her.
7. She loves soup! She is definitely my best eater! She loves Grapenuts in the  morning with raisins.  couldn't pay my other kids to eat that.
8. She is our official mail carrier and brings the mail in from the box every day!
9. She is a tomboy and prides herself on it.
10. She is always my most reverent and calm at church and generally stays out of the bench squabbles of her siblings.
11. She is SO good at making friends. It doesn't matter where or when she will make a friend.
12. If you give her a bite of your food she will take a mile. I do not like sharing with her.
13. She is sensitive about poor people and has a little compassionate heart.
We so enjoy having her in our home. She is precious!

Halloween 2013

So ya'll know I can't stand my kids going around begging for treats.....Yes I am a Halloween Scrooge.
Anyhow, we survived another year of the candy scrounging.
We had a homeschool trunk or treat, a ward trunk or treat and Halloween itself. We trick or treated three blocks to my grandma's rest home and trick or treated there, as well as chatted with my grandma for about 10 minutes. Then we trick or treated on home. I loved having my kids wait patiently for the shaky hands of the elderly to drop a treat in their bag. It was a good experience all around. But you know me.....glad it's over!!

I think Gracie fits into this old 4-6x Cinderella costume rather nicely! ;-)

Gracie in the middle of telling me "Stop!" She was very embarrassed by my picture taking in broad daylight.

My sweet grandma. I met a lady at church today that has her husband in the bishopric over the rest home.
She says everyone just loves Grandma.
