eat your heart out

Image Dennis is beaming because he is now able to put on and take off his sandals-correct feet and everything. As you can see these shoes have two velcro straps that he had to thread through a loop in order to fasten them to his foot. I just love this kid.

helping visitors

My parents took their spring migration north to the beloved state of Minnesota again this past weekend. Its always fun to have them around. We (they) worked around the house (while I was either working or watching Dennis). We also went shopping at this huge garage sale where I picked up some really great clothes for only $1 a piece. LOVE IT. I think I am the luckiest when it comes to my family. Image
Image My mom brought her sister, my auntie starr, and Dennis's "auntie grandma"... so many names for such a wonderful lady. She worked so hard while at our house getting some much needed projects done. I really enjoyed sharing painting ideas. She is also a water color painter though much better than me. Here they are putting new linoleum on our basement steps. When we first moved into the house the steps actually turned to the left at the bottom but Ryan moved them to go to the right so that we could put in a bedroom to the left. This left some uncovered stairs. So, auntie grandma was hard at work aligning all of the lines and cutting the pieces just right to fit the stairs.

Image Here is the project all done.
Image And remember how Ryan and I started working on our kitchen... oh... maybe over a year ago... Well, its still not anywhere near done but auntie grandma and my mom painted quite a bit and put nice linoleum on the base of the cupboards. I am so motivated and excited to get the doors on them now! They look so great white!
Image
ImageAnd as if that wasn't enough for those two ladies to do during the 4 days at my house, they recovered my dining room chairs! We put vinyl ontop of the fabric that I chose so that they are easy to clean with little kiddos running around and spilling milk. GREAT IDEA AUNTIE!

My dad was also busy putting the final touches on the added bedroom in the basement. He closed off our laundry chute cabinet and put up the crown molding and baseboards.

THANK YOU GUYS!!! It would take us forever to do that all on our own... and actually it probably wouldn't ever get done. Many thanks. We love you!

***Now they are off to spend a couple of weeks helping out at my brother's house... do they ever take a break? nope.

a new cousin

Dennis is going to have a new cousin soon! He is coming into the world this week. We are so excited! I made a quilt for this new little one. I saw it in one of the quilting magazines that I get in the mail except that it had ducks in the middle of the squares. I thought it looked too girly and then my mom suggested that I do sailboats because my brother loves to sail. It was perfect.

Image I think it turned out pretty cute.

monkey business

So, these next two pictures were taken on different days but ironically they are both diaper pics. I swear I dress my baby. He is such a climber. I am surprised that he hasn't climbed out of his crib yet. Image

The latest on Dennis

I can tell that he is getting taller because he can reach things that he couldn't before. Today he unlatched the bathroom closet where the plunger is... I will have to be more careful about him going into the bathroom. I can totally see him trying to plunge the toilet. He seems to want to imitate everything that we do lately. One day I was washing my hands in the kiddy pool after pulling weeds and Dennis copied everything I did.... swish in the water and then pick the dirt out from under my nails! He did it too. When I was drying off after my shower he grabbed a towel and rubbed on his legs and then in his hair. He can put the silverware away into the drawer. He can now spit and will spit adamantly when he has something in his mouth not wanted. The other night at dinner he had broccoli in his mouth and out of nowhere decided that he didn't like it anymore. He started spitting and wouldn't stop until every little green piece was out of his mouth. Ryan and I had to turn so that he didn't see us cracking up. Today when Ryan got home we cracked each other's backs... and since I am a pansy I made some unpleasant noises and Dennis came screaming around the corner making sure that I was okay and then gave me a BIG hug. LOVE THOSE MOMENTS.

The latest on Ryan

Ryan has been doing a warm-up rotation before he starts his first rotation as an official 3rd year student. He has been really loving it. He stays busy all day following patients and learning the ins and outs of rotations. Today he was able to watch a bronchoscopy... where they stick a scope down someone's trachea into the lungs. He thought it was pretty cool. The other night he said that he was so glad to be working with people. (me too). I love it when he is happy.

video time

So, after months of not being able to upload videos for unknown reasons... I tried again, and it worked. So, beware... I am behind. Video over kill.

This first one is Dennis cooking probably in Feb. The second one is Dennis waiting for his DVD to upload... and he is just so cute carrying on a conversation with me.

The next two are at the condo in florida.

Here he is walking the line at the intramural football game in utah.

mornings at our house

This one got cut off because Ryan was trying to run after me so that I couldn't take a picture... I'm so talented. Here he is ready to go to the hospital. Handsome Doctor.Image Here is Dennis showing off his HUGE molers. He is only missing the inbetween teeth. Thank you Nonnie for such a cute outfit. We love it.

these days

these days... Dennis is loving to look out his window at the dogs. Image He loves to wave hello or goodbye ... sometimes after the fact.
Image these days... Dennis LOVES shoes. Yes, even those platform high heels. He tried to put his little sandals on my big feet. It was pretty funny.
Image
Image these days... Dennis has loved his blankets! I had to wash a couple of them and since they were hanging to dry in our basement I forgot about them for a couple of months! But, as soon as I brought them up, Dennis was so excited to have them. This one he wrapped around his body and walked around the house.
Image This one he tried to snuggle on the floor to read my hymn book but found it more convenient not to.
Image
These days... Dennis likes pillows. Here he set up my new pillows on the floor to lay on with a blanket on top but missed the pillow just barely. Image these days... Dennis is going back to daycare! He will miss having his daddy around all the time. But, Ryan starts his 3rd year tomorrow.

my life is changed forever

Ryan and I decided to make a life changing decision... and we did it pretty fast. Will we regret it? Never.

We got blackberries with an unlimited data plan.

What does this mean? I have my phone, planner, radio, TV, internet, scriptures, gospel manuals, conference talks since the 80's, GPS & more... ALL IN MY POCKET!
Image I'm never looking back.

easter sunday

This was my first Easter at home with just my little family. To be honest, I wasn't really looking forward to it. But, surprisingly it was really fun. When Dennis got up in the morning, he imediately noticed the new basket in the room to my surprise because the room was a mess and I was certain it would take him a while. I guess he is used to having a few things lying around. Image candy and bubbles.
Image mmm. candy.
Image ...and a truck too?!
Image MY FAVORITES!
ImageThen we watched general conference in our home... so nice when baby has a nap! That is one big blessing of having it on the internet- I don't have to entertain Dennis through a nap time... (ok. the real reason for this picture is to show off my tan.:)
ImageHere is my hot hubby.
Image
Then Dennis helped me make dinner! Yay- Ham, potatoes, and corn.
Image
Image After dinner we played outside...Image... and made a bird feeder.
Image I LOVE... easter, spring, flowers, Dennis, Ryan, conference, LIFE.

perfect eggs

You might be wondering to yourself how one could come up with such unique and beautiful eggs... unfortunately, I am only allowed to disclose a few of the secrets.Image 1. strip down to your diaper and set up the studio outside.
Image
Image 2. Give the eggs quality bonding time with eachother. Nobody likes lonely eggs.
Image3. Don't be afraid of getting dirty.
Image4. Sometimes they need a party.
Image

5. Experiment with color theory so that you know exactly the right mix will make the perfect color. Image

Image 6. Try the color out on a tennis ball.

Image

Image 7. clean up after yourselves
8. stay well hydrated.

Image * Dennis will be available for egg signing on Sunday from 2-4pm.
(you wouldn't believe how hard it was to just let go and let him paint them the way that he wanted to. I am such a perfectionist when it comes to artsy stuff and I really wanted to make some eggs like martha's this year- but afterwards, I am so happy that I did and am so proud of his beautiful mess. I can make martha eggs another year.)
