Thanksgiving 2009

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving this year as we spent it at Gramma and Grampi's house. Aunt Kimie, Uncle Michael, Brooke and Scott all came to celebrate as well. Lainie and Emmie had such an awesome time hanging out with their cousins. We are so blessed to have such an amazing family!

There are so many things to be thankful for this Thanksgiving....

A Little Bit of This and A Little Bit of That

So, this is going to be one of those boring updates about what the girls are up to these days! This really is more for me than anyone. I just want to make sure I have it written down so I can look back and remember during my senior moments, which seem to be happening already! :)

Miss Lainie Bug, what are you up to these days? Well,
Image
* you still take a 2-3 hour nap everyday, but really don't want to on most days.
* you really love school for the first time this year, and never cry when you get there anymore. You give me a big hug and walk in your classroom like such a big girl!
* you have, on more than one occasion, looked at your daddy and said, "Daddy, you are my best friend." You LOVE your daddy!
* you say the funniest things. Tonight, you and Daddy were playing and he hurt his finger. He said, "Lainie, I think I broke my finger!" You responded, "Well, Daddy, I think I broke my booty!"
* you love, love, love animals and love going to the zoo.
* you love stuffed animals, plastic characters, dolls, etc. and you love to have conversations between them. We love listening to you converse between them.
* you love letters...you know them all and their sounds. You constantly tell me a letter and then give me a word that starts with that letter.
* you are terrified of any bathtub other than your own, including the master bath! You are also absolutely terrified of the color tablets that we can add to your bath water. We really can't even mention them or you become hysterical!
* you are becoming more independent these days. You can put your shoes on, potty by yourself, put some of your clothes on, etc. You are definitely growing up so much!
Image
* you take everything imaginable to bed with you. Right now, you have no less then 15 books, 12 stuffed animals, 5 plastic characters, a blanket, Lambie, and who knows what else sleeping with you tonight!
* you love to color, paint, play with play-doh, help Mommy cook, and anything else that is more "hands on."
* you really are not into dressing up or playing anything that has to do with being a "princess."
* your favorite tv shows are Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Little Einsteins, Word World and Super Why. You will watch others if they are on, but those are your favorites!
* you love music! You have started associating a song with one of your family members and always ask who's song is on the radio. For example, your song is "You Belong to Me" by Taylor Swift and "Battlefield" is Emmie's song! There is no rhyme or reason why a song belongs to a specific person. You claim that "No Surprise" by Daughtry is Daddy's song.
* whenever we are in the car, you point out EVERY. SINGLE. stop sign that we pass and tell me that it is an octagon EVERY. SINGLE. TIME!!!
* when we are driving and come to a stopping point, you ask, "Mommy, what path are we going to take...this one, or that one?
* whenever you say something that you know that surprises me, I will ask you, "Lainie, how did you know that? Your reply is always, "Because Mommy, I am so smart!"
* you love to play outside and love digging in the dirt! You also LOVE to swing at the park, but only want to sing in the "baby swings!"
* you now tell me all the time if a person is a boy or a girl, and you are always right...even when I asked you about Michael Jackson!
* you LOVE fruit...you would rather eat fruit than anything else I offer you.
* you are an absolute joy and one of the easiest children I have ever been around. You definitely love to please others, but you are very shy at first. You are beginning to come out of your shell a little more once you get to know people. You have a very gentle spirit. You are a wonderful big sister to Emmie and she adores you. We just love you more than words!

Miss Emmie Lou, what are you up to these days? Well,
Image
* you still take a pacifier, but only when you are going to sleep or are at school
* you tolerate school, but scream (loudly!) every time I drop you off!
* you are very attached to Mrs. Sylvia and cry everytime she leaves the room, just like your big sister did. You both LOVE Mrs. Sylvia and Mommy loves her too!
* you sleep with a little rabbit snuggly that was actually given to Lainie as a baby gift from Jennie Young! You love your rabbit so much that he had to take a bath with you tonight to keep you from crying.
* you love your milk and will say "meme" for milk.
* you are a great eater, but your very favorite food right now is probably guacamole!
* you love to be "on the go!" You are much more content when we are busy and out on the town.
* you would live outside if I let you! You want to be outside all the time.
Image
* you can throw some major temper tantrums....ooooh girl, can you throw them!
* you love bath time and usually do not want to get out. Whenever you hear the water running, you head straight up those stairs!
* one of your favorite toys is the ball popper. You also love to throw the ball with us, push the baby stroller or shopping cart, and play with the kitchen set.
* you put EVERYTHING in your mouth and will eat anything....anything at all!
* you also love music, but you will throw down to "Lord, you are Holy!" The girl who sang in our wedding has a main solo part in the song. Whenever it comes on, I can see you in the rear view mirror bobbing your head, raising your arms, clapping your hands, etc. throughout the song!
* your very favorite books are "Peedie" and "Gossie." You will find those books throughout the day and bring them to me to read. You love them!
* you always want any drink we have with a straw. If we offer you a sippy cup instead, you throw a fit! You definitely have an opinion regarding that!
* you still take two naps a day, but can make it if you only take an afternoon nap.
* you love to sit in my lap. If I am sitting on the ground, you will come and back into my lap everytime! You never just come and sit down...you have to "back that booty up" and then plop yourself down.
* you are still a "Mommy's girl," but you do love your Daddy! You always get excited when you see him.
* you love to color, but I think you love eating the crayons even more.
* you are obsessed with shoes! You constantly want to play with everyone's shoes in the house, and of course, Mommy has caught you in the act of chewing on them.
* you do NOT like getting dressed or getting your diaper changed. The idea of that taking place is pure torture to you!
* you are just such a precious little girl! You definitely have some spunk about you, but you are also a bit on the shy side. You love to be held and loved on, read to and snuggled. You are such a little love and so much fun to have around. We love you more than words too!

Sweet-n-Sassy

Little Lainie is getting so big! She just all of a sudden seems so grown up to me. She is really starting to talk very well and says things that are so funny. Here are a few of the things I have overheard lately:

*Justin was walking downstairs to do something and I asked if he would help Lainie. He said, "Mere, I can't do everything!" Lainie overheard him and said, "Daddy, yes you can. You can do everything!"

*Justin was putting Lainie's panties on her, but had them the wrong way. She said, "Daddy, you need to put my panties in the right order."

*The other night, I overheard Lainie saying, "but I can eat them." I thought maybe she was wanting some candy, an apple, you know, something food related. Oh no....Justin had told her to quit biting her TOENAILS and she got upset. Can you believe that? She has this horrible habit of wanting to bite her toenails. I really am not sure where that comes from!

*I was tickling Lainie on the couch tonight, and all of of sudden, she screams, "Daddy, can I get a little help here?"

She is just so much fun these days! I love to watch her as she grows. If I could record our conversations everyday, I would. She says things all the time that just make us smile. Love that sweet girl!

Christmas Village

If you read Keri or Christie's blogs, you have probably seen these pictures! Last weekend, Lainie and I took a special trip to Birmingham to see Keri, Christie, Raylin, and Christie's mom. We had a girls' day out shopping at Christmas Village and eating lunch at Another Broken Egg. Emmie stayed home with Daddy and had some special time with him while we were gone. It is amazing how different it is having only one child! I didn't quite know what to do with myself! :)

It was so great to see you Keri, Christie, Raylin and Mrs. Fulton! I hope we can plan another get together really soon. Love you girls!
