May They Remember

When I got my new phone, Justin and I decided to try and take a picture of ourselves using the camera included in it. For some reason, every picture we try to take of ourselves if fuzzy. However, I thought the pictures were sort of cute even though they aren't very clear.

I don't mention him much on the blog since so much of our life is wrapped up in our three sweet girls. However, I feel more and more blessed everyday I get to spend and do life with this man. He is such a wonderful husband to me and an amazing father to our girls, and we absolutely adore him. Some of my favorite moments are watching him interact with our girls, and see them respond to him. They continue to develop their own little traditions with each other, and have routines together that are only shared between Daddy and daughters.

My hope and prayer is that the girls will set their expectations high as they grow when it comes to dating. I hope that they will see how their Daddy treats them, how he treats their Mommy, and wait for someone who is going to love them and care for them in the same way.

May they remember the moments when their Daddy cuddled with them before bed, danced with them in the den, played games with them after he walked in the door from work, the early morning runs for donuts together on Saturday morning, the walks to the park, the tea parties, the movie dates, the hugs and kisses, the laughs and giggles, the rides in Daddy's car, the times he played Strawberry Shortcake, the bike rides, the games of hide and seek, duck, duck goose, and Monster. May they remember how much he adores them, how much he cherishes them, how much he loves them, how he is and will always be here for them, how he only wants the best for them, how blessed he feels to have the three most beautiful daughters in the world. May they remember.....

Ellie Update

Since Christmas, Ellie has decided that she is going to start doing all sorts of new things! She is so fun to watch. Ellie is, by far, the most outgoing baby we have had, and definitely has a big personality. She loves to be the center of attention, and loves when people laugh at her. She will do anything to get a reaction.

This child will NOT wear shoes or socks. As soon as I put them on, she rips them off. If we make it out the door with them and into the car, she will take them off as soon as I start driving. I cannot tell you how many people ask me why she doesn't have shoes or socks on when we are out on cold days. It is a battle I continue to fight on a daily basis!
Image
Around Christmas, she started taking her first steps. She would take about 3 or 4, fall down and then crawl. She would also cruise around furniture, let go, take a few steps and then sit down to crawl. She has slowly gotten more comfortable with walking, and now she is walking all the time. She is still a little wobbly, but she is doing a great job!
Image
She has started waving bye-bye, blowing kisses to people, and will put her hands above her head when you ask her how big she is. She will also give you open-mouthed kisses on your cheek if you ask her for a kiss. Sometimes, she will just lean in and give you a surprise kiss without you asking her to.
Image
She is now sitting at the big table in her booster seat instead of a high chair. She thinks she is "big stuff" sitting at the table with the rest of her family.
Image
Her very favorite activity is climbing stairs. She will climb and climb and climb! It drives her Mommy crazy! :) If you start to walk up the stairs behind her to get her, she will start dying laughing and crawl even faster. She is a mess!
Image
She has also started throwing temper tantrums. If she doesn't get her way, she will throw herself backwards onto the floor and just have a fit right there. This doesn't serve her well when there is a wall behind her, a toy behind her, or when she is on hardwood floors.....not that we have experienced those things lately or anything.

An Upgrade

We have been changing things up a little bit around here! Justin and I have wanted to change the flooring in our house for a while now. With him being in the flooring industry, it is hard to look at our builder-grade carpet and cheap kitchen floors and not want to do something different. :)

We didn't want to put hardwoods in when we had a baby simply because it is a little harder on them when they learn to sit, crawl, etc. Also, we were trying to get as much use out of the floors that we had before changing it up. However, the carpets and kitchen floor were awful and had definitely seen better days, so we decided to bite the bullet and make the change. We added hardwood everywhere except the kitchen. We put dura-ceramic tile in the kitchen and laundry room. While we were in the middle of changing the floors, we decided to get crazy and add a back splash in the kitchen too!

Here are the pictures of what things look like now around here!

We LOVE the way it all looks now! It is amazing how some small changes can make such a BIG difference in a house.

Silly Sisters

Here are a few more pictures that we snapped during the month of December. I had tons of pictures from all of our Christmas activities. These were just taken on a Saturday in December for no special reason. Just another day in the life of our household!

Christmas Number 4

Our last and final celebration was with Uncle Bennie. He drove up from Birmingham bringing Christmas goodies! The girls were so excited to open Build-a-Bear gift cards and then head to the mall with Uncle Bennie, Mommy and Daddy to spend their money. They each built a bear and got an outfit for their animal. Afterwards, we grabbed dinner and the girls ate their very favorite dish...sesame chicken and fried rice! They had such a great time seeing Uncle Bennie and spending a day with him.

Uncle Michael came up for a visit too so he could see my parents while they were in town!

Christmas Number 3

My parents came into town a few days after Christmas and stayed through the New Year. Once they got here, we had another Christmas celebration with my side of the family. The girls were so excited to be able to open more gifts, especially with their favorite cousins, Brooke, Scott and Creed.
Because we had been going non-stop, Emmie was exhausted and fell asleep on the couch before we started opening presents. She eventually woke up and opened her gifts, but bless her! It had been a crazy week around here!
