Noah's 18 Month Check-Up and More

Since I am always on the ball, Noah didn't get his 18-month-check-up until he was 19 months. And following suite, I am not writing this post until now, and he is almost 21 months. Anywho, here are the stats from his check-up:

Head: 52.5 cm -99.9% (basically he has the head of an 8-year-old)
Height: 34 inches - 84%
Weight: 26 lbs. 13 oz.- 57% (down an ounce from his one year check-up; no more bottles!)

He is super healthy, but very busy. This summer he has bonked his head numerous times, splitting it open and getting stitches once, and yesterday he was playing with his closet doors and ran over his toenail taking half of it off. . . got to love little boys! I had a super hard time when he cracked his head open and split his toenail in half, I just can't stand watching my baby bleed. It is sooooo much harder than when I get hurt or when anyone else I know gets hurt.

In other Noah news, he has just about potty trained himself! Being super pregnant, I was really not going to mess with the whole potty training thing. However, when Noah was about 17-months he started showing a lot of interest in the toilet and wanted us to put him on it. The first time we put him on he immediately went peepee and poopoo.  We made a big deal, and he was super excited, but we were still not ready for it to be a regular occurrence (a.k.a. I'm lazy). About a month ago, we realized there was no stopping him, he wanted to use the potty more and more, so we started some routines. Every morning he goes potty as soon as he wakes up, he goes potty before bath time, and bedtime, and we ask him various times of day if he has to go. He hates having a wet and especially dirty diaper. In the past two weeks, he has only gone poopoo in his diaper maybe once or twice. Also, he never wets his diaper at night, every morning it is dry when he wakes. I'm sure he would be 100% potty trained if I took away the diapers, However, when we put him in big boy undies he is totally fine until he gets into trouble or put down for a nap or something. . . if this happens he stares at us (usually screams) and squeezes out a few drops of peepee just so we have to clean up the mess and take him out of time-out, he is a naughty guy. So we are just cutting way back on the number of diapers we have to use daily. We take his diaper off, he does his business on the potty, we put the diaper back on and all of us are happy. I'm sure shortly after the baby is born we will do away with the diapers for good. This potty training method may not be in any books, but it is working for us and sure beats cleaning up tons of messes and/or cleaning up one of those kiddie potties multiple times a day~gross!

Noah is truly a man of few words (probably because he has two parents that never stop talking). He doesn't say much right now, but is super good at communicating what he wants through whining, pointing, and other motions. His favorite words right now are: go, nah, keys, no, ya, hi, ice, papa, dad, ma, mama, owie, ouch, uh-oh, and oh. He is really good at using these in context, but I know that many other almost 2-year-olds are talking up a storm. He understands everything and obeys when we ask him to do things, but just hasn't really embraced talking.

Noah loves to watch TV, he would watch it all day if we let him. His favorite shows right now are: Beethoven (yes the 1990 movie), Wallace and Gromit, Curious George, and he just moved on from a huge Backyardigans and Sesame Street obsession.

Noah loves to play outside. He especially loves to ride around in Fisher Price cars or little bikes or push cars. He LOVES the beach! He is obsessed with playing in the sand and has no fear of water, runs right into the waves and even let his dad take him under a few times. He loves the pool and runs and jumps into it without a second thought, needless to say- I have to be very quick with the floaties. He also loves the hot tub (I know, we are great parents!).

Noah loves toy cars, balls, and especially phones right now. He runs the cars all over the house, throws the balls and has us throw them, and will talk on any phone (toy or not) that he can get his little hands on- such a cutie!  Also, he is finally starting to really like books, he loves the pictures and turning the pages and likes to help us while we read them to him.

Meanwhile, I'm pushing 34 weeks-pregnant and getting ready for a move in a week and a half. I'm super tired and achey, but have bursts of energy every now and then, so hopefully I can get everything done. Baby boy #2 is quite a mover and gets lots of hiccups just like his brother did. I think he will be another big boy. I'm carrying this one a lot lower than Noah, so I have really perfected the waddle by this point. I'm due Oct. 20th, but my doctor said she would induce me a week early if I wanted. Considering my 20-month-old has the head of an adolescent, I think I will take her up on her offer. So, baby should be here around October 13th. Still no name for this sweet boy, but I think we are getting closer.

This post is so long, but this is the only journal type action I have going right now.

We spent last week and Newport Beach and can't wait to call Southern California our home. Disneyland and the beach, what could be better?!

Moving Again!

So, it looks like Sam's job will be keeping us in the bay area. With the baby on the way, and a growing toddler, we need a place a little more family friendly. Come September, we will be packing our bags and moving about 15 minutes north to Palo Alto, CA. We are so excited to have more of a community feel and be even closer to family! We are actually planning to move into my cousin's old place, since she will be moving to a bigger house. Any tips for moving while 8 months pregnant? I may have to invest some serious cash into movers!

Funny Story

To preface this, Noah is a man of few words. He has mastered, "go", "uh-oh", and "oh", but other than the occasional "momma", "dada", or "Noah", says little else.

Last weekend we hung out with our friends Meggan and Matt and their two little boys. They have a little boy, Body, nine months older than Noah that is talking up a storm. Noah is about the same height and was loving playing with him. A little after we got there, Body came running and crying to his dad. We immediately thought Noah did something to hurt him. When his dad asked him what was wrong he said, "That boy won't talk to me." We started dying laughing and assured him he wouldn't talk to us either.

Just thought it was such a funny story, and since I am even worse at keeping a journal than I am at blogging I thought I would post it to remember it.

We had a lot of fun hanging out with the Bambls and are glad they live close!

Oh Boy, oh boy!

No shock to the one or two people that read this, but we are expecting another baby boy on October 20th! We are thrilled, and know Noah will love having a best buddy. Unlike with Noah, we can't really nail down a name. Since April a lot has happened. . .

In May, over memorial day we spent a week in Newport Beach, and Noey had his first trip to Disneyland. As you can tell by the pictures he was thrilled! Not really, but he did like the character breakfast and made some new friends:

Noah got his first two haircuts by yours truly. The mullet is officially gone, but it is growing back quickly.

In June, we got to hang out with friends and family in Salt Lake and Las Vegas. It was so good to get out of our tiny apartment and spend time with the ones we love!

Lately, we found out that our move to Southern California isn't going to happen for a while longer. I'm bummed and really want to live down there, but it probably won't happen for another year. On the bright side, I already have a good doctor and hospital lined up for the arrival of baby boy #2.  In the mean time, we have been on the house hunt. We are trying to find a place in Palo Alto so that we can be close to our cousins and really enjoy the beautiful atmosphere of that area. So far we haven't had any luck, but have high hopes to find a place before our lease runs out Sep. 1. Not looking forward to moving at 8-months pregnant, but better it happen before than after.

Oh and on a sad note, Noah had his first ER visit this past Monday. He slipped and his head broke his fall on the back of one of our living room chairs. He had to get a bunch of stitches (which was horrible), but has been really good about getting his band-aid changed. We had a plastic surgeon take care of it, so hopefully the scarring will be minimal.

Oh and I almost forgot. . .

As of Monday, Noah is off bottles!!!! I feel like this means he is officially a toddler and not a baby. We are loving all the extra sleep!

Time Flies!

Ok, so I hate how I ALWAYS get behind on our blog.  A lot has happened since my last post. . .

1.) Noah turned one and we celebrated his birthday and Christmas with friends and family in Vegas. Sam and I also celebrated our fifth wedding anniversary- crazy how the time flies.

Noah had a super long day on his birthday and didn't get both of his naps. Needless to say, he wasn't too happy by the time his party rolled around that night. Not to worry. . . it was nothing a little cake couldn't cure.

Here are some pictures from those happy times in December:

Below is a video of Noah flirting with all the ladies at the party. Thanks to my friends (Cami, Marsha & Johnny), my sisters' friends (Katie, Jenna, and Michelle) and all the family (my parents, grandparents, and Aunt Julie, Rach, and Cass) that came to the party. It was almost all girls, and Noah wouldn't have had it any other way. Something tells me he won't want another party with that many ladies again until his teenage years.

All the pictures of gift opening and the whole family are on my mom's camera, I keep forgetting to upload them when I see her.

2.) We had a mini-family reunion in Las Vegas when Jack and Traci came to visit. We had so much fun with them. Noah got to follow his cousin Jackers everywhere, and Jack even taught Noah how to play cars. We went to the shark museum (Jack loved, Noah was unimpressed), ate at the Rainforest cafe (both boys were obsessed), and played an unprecedented amount of "Just Dance" on the wii (We even got Grandpa in on the action. . . sadly no pictures of that). We love and miss Jack and Traci so much!

3.) We celebrated my 25th birthday and Easter here in California. We hit up an Easter egg hunt with the Andersen family on Saturday and had Easter dinner with them on Sunday. We love having family so close!

We were thrilled to have my mom in town for my birthday. She definitely spoiled me. . . tons of presents and this beautiful cake. Thanks Mom and Dad, love you!

I really struggled to get a good picture of Noah on Easter and we didn't get a picture with the whole family. I'm bummed, but he was so adorable and church and we had such a fun day.

I'll try to be better at updating our family blog. We have a lot of exciting things coming our way in the near future.
