Is it really already SEPTEMBER?

Here is what we have been up to:

We celebrated 7 wonderful year!

Jake and I celebrated our 7 year anniversary. Our plans didn't turn out as planned, but probably turned out better than planned. Our plan was to go to the temple, go to a movie and then head into Phoenix to the Compass Room for dinner (a restaurant that is in a sky rise that rotates so you get a view of all the city).  We made it to the temple, it was lovely. It is always nice to be in the temple remembering the eternal covenants we made 7 years ago.
We made it in time for the movie (The Help) but the theater changes movie times for the weekends and I checked them earlier that week. The only times they had left were late ones that cut into our dinner reservations. So we put together a new plan.
Jake heard about a nice restaurant in Scottsdale and called and was able to get a reservation.  We headed there instead. It was called the Roaring Fork. It was a perfect setting for an anniversary. When we got to the table they had a card and a beautiful rose on the table congratulating us on our anniversary.
This place was fabulous, it was quiet, with dim lights, candles, and the most fabulous food I think we have ever had. It was one of those restaurants where they don't list the price and if you ask you look cheap--so we didn't dare ask. haha!
We have NEVER done anything like this before, and we decided to go for it. We ordered a fabulous avocado crab appetizer that was to die for and I ordered the special, a very perfect and tender Steak and  jalapeño mac & cheese, (very, very yummy!) and Jake ordered the most amazing ribs.
ImageThey gave us a complementary Creme Brulee for dessert. It was amazing! We sat and talked for 3 hours. It was the best night.  Jake surprised me with real diamond earrings with a blue topaz in the center (my birth stone is topaz, but he knows I don't love the brown topaz much)--I have never really owned fine jewelry other than my wedding ring. I was thrilled and completely surprised. It was perfect.
I surprised (and I say surprised because we usually don't do anniversary gifts) him with a new custom wedding ring. (I accidentally threw his away over a year ago).
I can say and so can Jake, that it was the most perfect night we have had in a long time. It was so wonderful to relax and enjoy ourselves over some very fabulous food!
I hope this set the stage for next year! :) hehe!

Our loved Rio (our pet fish) made it a full 7 days at our house , and then he decided to do this

I must say I miss my little Rio. I watched him die, he really struggled the last few hours of his life, i knew it was coming. The kids were sad. Maggie cried as we flushed Rio to his grave.
When Kaiden goes into the bathroom he says "Rio!" and points to the toilet. I think we are going to hold off on pets at our house for like...EVER!

Macy is 8 months today. She is a lot of fun. She had an ATTITUDE! She is so funny and stubborn, loud and opinionated. She has really come alive the last 6 weeks. We love having her around and get a kick out of her hilarious and contagious fun and sweet personality. She is getting close to crawling. She army crawls and scoots around. She hums herself to sleep, and is finally starting to eat baby food! Today she has a low grade fever, she is cutting her first tooth.

Our Kaiden started VIOLIN last week. He goes during school twice a week. He LOVES it. It has been a good thing for him. Jake and I were very worried that he would not like it or that it would be too challenging for him, but so far so good.(knock on wood!)

I made tacos the other night and found this baked to the taco shell--it was shrinked wrapped so I know it didn't crawl in through the box. EEW! (i didn't eat that night)
Just thought I would share! :)

Last night we took the kids to the Mesa Temple and Visitor Center when we were literally hit by a Haboob (huge dust storm) you can check one out here. We thought we had enough time to walk around the temple...umm...they move fast, just FYI.
We ended up running to the Visitor Center. Jake snapped a pic just before it hit. (this was a very mild one)

Maggie is in Ballet, she LOVES it. She is doing it an hour a week with a professional Ballerina. Every morning she asks if it is dance day. She is really doing well at it too.

I FINALLY started my physical therapy (thanks to sweet friends in the ward who have been willing to watch my kids). Twice a week for an hour. OUCH! It hurts. I was sweating...it's painful. I am hopeful I can have a full quick recovery. It's been frustrating not being able to use it like I use to.

Jake is still studying away for his GMAT test. It has really been a stressful thing for us. He studies 6-8 hours a day on top of all the other responsibility he has. I feel bad for him, but am grateful for his hard work and dedication. Keep him in your prayers, I feel like the test is getting closer (he wont tell anyone when he is actually going to take it--but my guess is within the next few weeks).

To say the least we are busy, but happy!
