Baby Luke on Video

I got a Flip video cam for my birthday and I'm finally figuring out how to post vids to the blog. This one is of our sweet baby Luke laughing with his Daddy. I love both my boys!

Daddy's Name Is...

Scott and I talk sometimes about how rarely we actually use each other's given names. We have each acquired a short list of favorite pet names, and now with kids we most often go by "Mommy" and "Daddy". Livvy, however, has recently become a bit preoccupied by what our "real" names are. She hears mine often enough at play-dates and such to know what it is. And every once in awhile she tries to use it (just to get a reaction I am sure). But today over lunch she asked, "What's Daddy's name?" So I said, "Well, Daddy's name is Scott. But you can just call him Daddy." She thought that through for a few seconds and then replied, "Daddy's name is Babe." I couldn't stop smiling for the rest of lunch.

Livvy-isms

Olivia is at such a fun age right now and is talking like crazy! I have to write down some of the things she has said recently just so I don't forget:

~ When told one Sunday morning how cute she looked, she said "I'm not cute! I'm adorable!"

~ Naked after a bath, she proceeded to put on my shoes, waltzed into the room with her hands on her hips and proclaimed "Check it out!"

~ At Christmas time she was always noticing pictures of the Baby Jesus or nativity scenes with the Baby Jesus. Each time she would say "There's Baby Jesus. I love him!"

She's also got quite the imagination. Lately during playtime she is either on a rescue mission or taking some kind of trip. I can hear her yelling "To the rescue!" all the time. When she goes on her imaginary trips (usually to preschool, church, or the store) she always has to pack some kind of bag. She loves to use a carry-on suitcase, but will settle for my purse or scripture bag if all the luggage is put away. If I am ever missing anything (particularly ear plugs or diaper cream), then I can usually find it in one of her bags.

Goodness, she makes me happy!

One evening Livvy was being naughty at the dinner table, so she was sent to her room for time out. When the crying stopped and she still didn't come back, we went to check on her and found her like this.

The Denver Zoo!

There was a free day at the Denver Zoo last week and Livvy and I just had to go. Livvy had never been to a zoo before and I was so excited to take her. We went with our new friends Charlotte and Evelyn and had a ball. Livvy only does one animal sound right now and that's a growl. So she growled at most of the animals and waved at several of them too. She absolutely loved the monkey house and the polar bears. It was a picture perfect day and we can't wait to go again.

Cute Livvy

Livvy is adjusting well to Colorado. She wins over everybody she meets. I can't tell you how many people I get to talk to because they think she is so cute and want to know all about her. I don't remember the last time I went out anywhere and didn't have someone want to stop and talk to us. What a great gift our little Olivia is!

We bought a hat and gloves for Livvy because we've already had our first snow of the season. She loves them! She just wanted to keep wearing them all evening.

I went shopping with my parents when they came to visit and we forgot the stroller. A nice duh moment for me. But we rented this one from the mall and Olivia had a blast in it. What a cutie!

One of Scott's favorite things to do is give Livvy a weird hair-do after her bath. He's become well-known for a really nasty looking comb over. But on this particular night he went for a slicked back look. It's a good thing she's such a good sport.

Kelly Family Camping

Scott and I went camping at Bridger Lake in the Uintah's with the Kelly's at the end of August. It was such a fun little trip. We got to be with Dad Kelly, Matt and his two girls (Tylin & Addi), Pete, Andrea, and Grandma & Grandpa Kelly. The boys did some major fishing and Scott ended up being king of the lake, catching more than everyone. He was using this sweet action fly that had blue glitter on it. I just thought it was pretty. Who knew he'd do so well with it! Grandma, Andrea, and I played a whole lot of cards. Scott and Grandpa got cornered by an entire moose family: bull, cow, and calf! They couldn't move for more than 20 minutes. Scott now has a new-found sense of fear for moose. It's pretty funny to hear him tell the story. Andrea and I also had fun taking Matt's girls on adventure walks. We let the girls lead the way and told them we wanted to find animals. We also almost ran into the moose (cow and calf) and we got to see a tiny little frog (so cute). Scott and I loved trying out our new sleeping bags. All in all we had great food and a great time! And thanks to Mom Tanner for watching Olivia for us.
