Last Monday, I had the happy joy of visiting the Northside-Forsyth ER as patient. I found out that I was blessed with gallstones and my gallbladder would need to exit my body at some point. I visited the surgeon who would be performing the procedure on Wednesday morning. Both Stephie and I found him to be a lot like Robin Williams in Patch Adams. He told us that the surgery was an elective surgery–in other words, I could elect how many times I wanted to visit the ER before I had the surgery.
Well, as many of you already know, I elected for no more visits to the ER. Instead, I went under the knife Thursday afternoon. I think Dr. Tucker was shocked that I wanted it done so fast. But, if I wanted it done before Turkey day, it was either Thursday or my BDay. I was not giving myself a gallbladder surgery as a birthday present!
After the surgery, they woke me up, and I discovered that I was in pain and my sight had reverted to as bad as it was prior to my Lasik. Needless to say, I was a little panicky and a lot mad because they were not explaining why I couldn’t see. Finally, the recovery nurse told me my sight would come back as I woke up as she kept pumping morphine in my IV. After an hour and a half, I was allowed out of recovery and allowed to have something to drink instead of just ice chips.
From the info Stephie got from the doctor, it sounds like my gallbladder was on its way to being infected and I was on my way to another ER visit. Sounds like we had good timing.
Hopefully, we are done with ER visits so that my sweet sister can get some rest. With her father-in-law going to the ER in Toccoa the Friday before my first gallbladder attack, our aunt having heart surgery, Alex with a tummy ache, me, and it sounds like she may be coming down with an ear infection, I think Stephie is maxed out. Okay, everybody, stay well! 🙂
