Snowshoeing in Beaver Creek

We have always wanted to take the lift up in Beaver Creek and snowshoe in McCoy Park. We finally did it! And we will do it many more times. It was beautiful! Rachel used her GPS and we went about 5 miles. That's tough with weights around your ankles. You can't tell but it was only 24 degrees outside. Mom was wearing a t-shirt by the end and we hardly ever wore gloves. What a great day!

Our fiercely competitive race. This was at the beginning of the day, when we still had a lot of energy.

Whoa we were tired. Rachel won by a hair. She started too fast, so I almost caught her. Too little too late.

My first solo sew project

Image

So as I told my family, to say I am proud of this bunting would be a vast understatement. I have sewn little things but have always had help. This is my first start to finish project I made by myself. Woohoo! Don't mind the messy stuff in the picture. I didn't show the rest of the room for a reason. We are getting built in bookshelves currently in our office. They are awesome so far! But, all our stuff is in our living room. Fabulous. No Christmas decorating for me yet.

AUBURN vs georgia

What an amazing weekend! Words cannot describe how wonderful it was to be with my college friends. A little slice of heaven. I finally got to meet adorable Laine, Lauren's daughter. I got to see the Volls in September, so I LOVED getting to see them so soon again too. That's not normal but I really wish it was!!! Precious Britt is in to everything and his little voice melts my heart. Oh I love my friends kids.

This is our  tailgating spot. We had a pretty good set up if you ask me. We didn't get tickets to the game, they were super expensive. So, we hunkered down at a tailgate and watched the first half there and the second half at Chris's apartment. I also got to see my siblings, Rachel and Chris, quite a bit. It was especially sweet because I won't see them at Thanksgiving. Apparently I didn't take any pictures with them though. Bummer.

Image

We did a lot of talking and catching up and just doing life together. It was so nice because we never get to do that. We all agreed this should be an annual trip. Mark your calendars girls because I'm holding you to it!!!

How about those Tigers!! War Cam Eagle. What a FABULOUS season so far. It's great to be an Auburn Tiger!

New Hobby

Image

I got a sewing machine from Adam for my birthday and I am super excited! I have loved it so far even though I am still learning to use it. I really like the one Adam chose! Rachel got the same one too so we can help each other over the phone. Rachel made me this awesome laptop cover when I came to Nashville. It fits my computer perfectly! She is obviously much better than I am. I am sewing on a button and elastic to close it. What do you think about this button? It's just sitting on it, not yet attached.

OUR house

Image
Here's our house from the front yard! This was Halloween night so the fire pit is in the front yard. Don't mind the crooked shutter. We need a ladder. Adam built the flower boxes, Mom planted them, and Rachel hung our shutters. Team work.

Rachel Lundeen, esquire

Last week, Rachel was sworn in as a lawyer in Nashville. I was so proud to watch her become an official lawyer!!! The supreme court was standing in front of her as she was presented with her accomplishments and invited to join the Tennessee bar.

Here they are approving her request.

Blessing

Adam and I have been attending First Baptist Church Decatur since we moved to Decatur this summer. We have loved this new to us church and the fellowship there. We are looking forward to plugging in and plan on joining very soon. The pastor, Julie Pennington-Russell, came from a church in Waco, so I feel a special connection to her too. This morning we worshiped on the front lawn, which is an amazing way to invite new people to church. Julie ends every service with this blessing that I have come to love already:

"May the God who seeks you find you when you fall;
May the God who loves you take delight in your living;
And may the God who send you, send you now with joy
For in your gladness and in your grieving -
In your brokenness and in your healing -
In your faithfulness and in your leaving
The God who made you and redeemed you
is the God who keeps you,
still."

The Eagles

I was recently thinking about how selfish this blog is. I don't have kids and don't want to talk about my dog excessively, so it is pretty much all about Adam and me. Then I thought, if anyone thinks this is so selfish, stop reading. And now I think I am ok with it. :) So, on to the next event... The Eagles! If you know my dad, you know he loves this band. He has been to LOTS of concerts and we have 3 copies of the concert DVD. Enough said.

Rachel and me scoping out Piedmont Park before the concert started. It was in the middle of the park with first come seating. You better believe we were near the front.

Go Braves

Image
I know I am a bit delayed but better late than never, right? Adam and I got to go with some friends to cheer on the Braves in the National League Division Series. Sadly, we didn't cheer enough and we lost it in a very close and fun game. Goodbye Bobby Cox! Thanks for the memories! We are now cheering for the Rangers on TV. So, Go Rangers!

Thankfulness

I am thankful for...

1. My job. I have a GREAT job. I get to help people. I work for a wonderful company. I have flexible hours to devote to my family and other things I am interested in. Most recently, volunteering. I have made compassionate friends who come to or call the pharmacy every day to talk and catch up. I love my job.

2. My husband. He is happy and loves his new career. He is understanding of my life and interests and never bugs me about what I do in my free time. He allows me to relax and recover from long work days.

3. Our house. We love our new location and are getting settled in Decatur. We are going to a new church close to us and and are going to join soon.

4. My dog. I must admit, he's my best friend. We do everything together on my days off. He stays close to me and follows me every move I make. He's loyal and I adore him.

5. My family. I am blessed with a career that allows me time off to see my family. I just returned from Minnesota to see my cousin's daughter baptized and North Dakota to see my family there including my 94 year old grandparents who I am so thankful for. My grandparents are one of my biggest blessings in life. I have a wonderful family.

Lately

This is going to be totally random. Watch out! What we have been up to...

Visiting my sweet friend Susan in her new town of Royston, GA. Here she's pregnant

ImageNow she's not. Here's here adorable Peyton. Hello Heaven.

Image
My mom came to visit and did a lot of organizing and cleaning (aren't Moms great???) and Colby is hiding from the vacuum cleaner and spying through the doggy door. I thought Mom was going to pass out from laughing so hard. She could not get a hold of herself. Typical giggly Mom.

ImageI got a new rug. Totally digging it.

Image
Visited Jess in Auburn and make a stop at good old Laredo's. Isn't Jess cute!?

ImageAnd we stayed with Chris and Buck in Auburn. Buck thinks he's a lap dog. We also went to the Clemson-Auburn football game. No pictures apparently. Fun game! Only half of Adam made any of this pictures. Sorry hubby! He was here for most of these events too. :)

ImageLastly, Christy (BFF from college), Michael, and son Britt came to visit. Oh my goodness it was fun. We had some much needed catch up and just be together time. I am appalled I have no photo evidence. Ridiculous. Trust me. It was awesome.

How's that for a random update???

Reunion Weekend

Our friends Lee and Jessica got married this weekend. Wedding are such a great excuse to get everyone together. It was wonderful to get to celebrate their union and see old friends.

This is the "Anti-Social Seminary Wives Club" we called ourselves. Oh how I miss these girls. We were so blessed to have each other during the seminary years. Love you girls and what a blast last night!

ImageSee Adam's shiner? Awesome huh? Lost a fight with a softball. Good timing. He served communion at the wedding looking like that.
