Street GRACE

Human trafficking is a hot topic in Atlanta. Not one I want to think about but one that is there none the less. Our church has gotten involved in trying to help find safe places for these girls to go to get out of the "business". Usually they end up in it by kidnapping by pimps or really no other options. They need a safe place to go to get out of the sex trade instead of being locked up for it. Street GRACE was formed to help with that need. I can't seem to find the right words so here is the quote from the webpage about what Street GRACE does:

"Street GRACE is a non-denominational alliance of churches dedicated to supporting, enlarging, and allying with those individuals and organizations working toward eliminating the commercial sexual exploitation of children (CSEC). Street GRACE mobilizes the resources of churches — financial, human and material — toward those organizations and individuals who have demonstrated effectiveness in battling CSEC in the areas of advocacy, aftercare and mentoring.

Our ultimate goal is the elimination of this problem in the city of Atlanta and duplication of these efforts in other cities across the United States."

I have been trying to get involved with this for some time but have been unable to attend events because of my random pharmacy schedule. So, when I stumbled upon this opportunity to help raise awareness and money by running the ING half marathon, I jumped in to help. Adam, Rachel, and I are each attempting to raise $500 to support Street GRACE. We would really appreciate any help you can give us! We will also be wearing t-shirts to promote awareness. You can support us by clicking here or I set it up on the side bar too.

Adam, our dog Colby, and I ran 8 miles yesterday, so it is getting close to d-day if you will, March 21st. I am not completely confident but feel much better after yesterday's run. Thank you for any support you can give us- encouragement, prayer, financial. We appreciate you, friends!

Favorite Bachelor Quotes

Me: "Adam stop pausing it to tell me something or I will watch by myself"
Adam: "Don't make me leave, I want to hear the women tell all."

All about Tenley
Vienna: "I think she might dream in cartoons. I'm just saying. I think it's possible."
Jessi: "It's like she just fell out of a Disney movie."
Gia: "I mean that girls sh*ts rainbows."

Ha! Makes me laugh. I have thoroughly enjoyed this season and so has Adam but he would never admit it. Unfortunately I have a feeling Vienna is going to win. Boo! Never go for the girl who doesn't have girl friends. It's just stupid.

Italy

Adam and I are going to Italy in less than a month to sight see and visit our friends who live there. Actually we are going in about 3 weeks. Anyone who knows me well, knows I am a planner. Well, let me be clear. In college my friends were all more planner than me, so I could sit back and let them do it. I love him, but Adam has no in advance planning skills at all. I step up and make all our plans. I am far behind in planning for Italy. It's quite ridiculous really. We are staying in Perugia with our friends after two days in Rome. We're taking day trips from there. Anyone have any suggestions?

Great Book

ImageI know a lot of people have already read this book, but if you haven't, read it. I loved it. Thanks Sue for letting me borrow it. I'm sending it to Mom today. I hope that is okay. Sorry Rachel, Mom convinced me she needed it before you. Fight her later. Anyway, it is based in Mississippi and tells the story of the South through the eyes of the "help". So interesting to read about the dichotomy of loving the family you work for and hating them at the same time.

Spring is coming

ImageI had a few flowers last year and had my first garden. Well this fall I way ventured out and planted bulbs. I was very unsure if they would sprout because I had no idea what I was doing. I followed the directions on the bag and planted tulips and daffodils. I'll let you know if they get bigger than this. I literally saw them and RAN inside jumping to tell Adam. He responded with "what?". I think he was as excited as he could make himself be for me and my centimeter sprouts. It's the little things. He took the picture and added the arrow so you don't miss my lovely little plant growing. Hopefully they don't freeze and die. It was 23 degrees when I left at 9 this morning for a meeting. I appreciate you sharing in my excitement.
