FUN RUN

Our PTA does a Fun Run to raise money for this and that... right now we are raising money to get the rubberized mat stuff for the playground.   Cool right?  So the kids get pledges/donations and then they run 30 laps on a mini track on the playground.   At Anniston it is a pretty big deal.  Michael Lewis (former New Orleans Saints player) comes, players from the Mississippi Surge Hockey team show up, football/cheerleaders from Gulfport High come too.

Overall, the day was completely shot.  We did our run at 9am,

then went outside for snack (fruit juice popsicles),

then we got back to class and had just started a center rotation when Michael Lewis comes by for a visit...20 minutes later he leaves and we start to settle down.

My little ones started complaining they were hungry so we had a picnic lunch on the playground.

We got back into the classroom, were about 5 minutes into a center rotation and Ms. K said all the kindergarten classes were going outside to cheer on Mrs. C's class.  They raised the most money and had a private run with Michael Lewis.  While we were out there, players from the Mississippi Surge Hockey team showed up... and boy they were fun to hang out with!

We finally got into the classroom at 1:15 and crammed in 2 center rotations and called it a day!

 So much fun!

Hi... Remember me?

Well hey y'all!  I know, you probably thought I fell off the face of the Earth.  No, that didn't happen, but I have been super busy!  This summer was insanely crazy...filled with spontaneous trips to Orlando, job hunting, interviews and setting up my classroom.

So... Orlando.... Marte, Lars and the kids came to Orlando  for holiday in July.  I woke up on a Saturday morning and decided to drive down and visit them.  I was supposed to go later that week, but I had a feeling I needed to go right then.   Good thing I did, on Monday I got a call from a principal for an interview.   I pretty much did the interview on the phone and when I got off, I felt like I had the job.  I just had to meet with her on Wednesday.  I spent half a day on Tuesday with M, L, T & T in Animal Kingdom and then drove home.  I met with Dr. P on Wednesday morning and was offered a job teaching kindergarten shortly after lunch that day!  Kindergarten, I can't say I was thrilled after the past two years of teaching kindergarten in Jackson.  But I LOVE it!!!  But I am finally teaching.  I was just a glorified babysitter in Jackson.  My school year has been crazy busy, but that is good.  Oh, here are some Disney pics...

Look for the bare necessities
The simple bare necessities
Forget about your worries and your strife
I mean the bare necessities
Old Mother Nature's recipes
That brings the bare necessities of life

Chillin by the pool... pretty much what we did all weekend

So... work has be busy as I said.  I got a great calling at church... Young Women's secretary!  It keeps me just as busy as school.  Between the two, I have little free time.  I am not complaining... I love being busy.

I did go to an old people (31+) singles conference for church this past weekend.  I felt out of place Friday night.  I seriously didn't want to be there.   Actually, I went home Friday night and wasn't going back on Saturday.  But Jenn from my ward was going and I had told her I was going too, so when she messaged me to make sure I was still going, I felt like I needed to be there.   Ok, I am glad I went back on Saturday.   The classes were great!  And I met some boys! (well, men....no, boys- it makes me feel younger than saying men).  Richie is from Covington (45 minutes away) but very socially awkward.  Nice guy though.  Jeff is from Atlanta... also super nice.  I emailed him, I think I will keep in touch.   And... Ryan :)  Ok, he is cute... really cute... and lives in Petal (outskits of Hattiesburg about and hour and a half away)... and we have a date on Saturday!  YAY!!!  I am super excited!   Ryan and I both went home Saturday night and talk the whole time.  He seems pretty awesome.  Here is a pic of Richie, me, Ryan, some guy hitting on Jenn and Jenn at the south state fair in Mobile on Saturday.  We went because we had two hours to kill before dinner.  It's not the best picture...sorry!
Image
It was kinda weird being at the state fair in dress clothes, but we had fun no the less!  Ok... enough for now... details about Saturday to come... wish me luck!  He seems like a good one!   I am setting a goal to update more often!

My Night With the Plain White T's

Image
First, if you haven't heard of these guys... check them out.  They are pretty rockin awesome!  They sing "Hey There Delilah", :1,2,3,4" and "Rhythm of Love".
Image
Tonight they performed at the Hard Rock Live in Biloxi.  I scored some sweet free tickets (always an awesome thing)...bonus when we went in the guy at the door said go to the right and through the barricade.  I wasn't sure what he was talking about, but since he was kinda large like a bouncer, I followed his directions.  Well, to our surprise and delight, we got to stand in the section closest to the stage (and for future knowledge, I will arrive earlier so I can stand against the stage).  Regardless of not being right on the stage, we had a sweet spot.   So, I have liked them since Hey There Delilah came out a few years ago, but after tonight I am a total super fan.  I think I will buy an album on ITunes and not just listen to them on Pandora while I drive.

Let me introduce you to the guys in the band

Tom - Lead Singer

Image
Tim - Singer, but not lead singer - he is the lead voice in Rhythm of Love
Image
Mike - bass guitar guy - kinda looks like the big ole teddy bear kinda guy
Image
De'Mar - Drummer, which makes him automatically cool
Image
Dave  - guitar player - pretty much my favorite

So, the show was ROCKIN tonight ( I think I mentioned that already)... but it was!  So I got some great photos. So here is some photo OVERLOAD... sorry I get a little camera happy at times!

Tracy and I ready for the show to start!
