Making a difference...One Starfish at a time

Our family started fostering back in 2005. We have been blessed to love on many babies. There has been many twists and turns throughout our journey and in December of 2010 we were called for placement of a newborn baby boy. His biological mother worked a case plan for 18 months and after 23 months she surrendered her rights and we adopted 'Sprout' in December of 2012. Our faith has been tried and tested and we are still certain that God is faithful!

It's been a crazy week and it's not even over.  Was in the ER with Sprout most of Tuesday night.  He has been violently vomiting and not keeping anything down.  So after a phone call to the on-call worker (who also happens to be our agency worker) off to the ER we went.  Sprout was vomiting undigested milk AND the electrolytes.  The PA was wonderful but brought us a condition called pyloric stenosis and to be honest I was a bit freaked out.  We are already dealing with the effects of reflux but he's been on Rx meds since earlier this month.  He's been doing so much better with the reflux aside from the diaper rash he's getting from it.  But the projectile vomiting has been like nothing I've EVER seen.  We have been at the Dr's most of this week.  We are hoping it is something as easy as the stomach bug.  Bio mom requested that her visit be at 'Stuff Mart' earlier this week.  She wanted to get his pics taken.  She had him out of the car seat and touching EVERYTHING.  There's a VERY good chance he has a bug.  Anyway.  Dealing with a fussy Sprout was one thing but also having to 'babysit' bio mom at the Dr's appointments has been anything but fun!  She is a piece of work.  She does NOT filter what comes out of her mouth and she can be quite embarrassing at times.  The agency worker was out a few days this week but called immediately when he was back in the office.  He wanted to know how things went and I was sure to tell him everything!  The things that she does has me questioning how she will live with him if he goes home.  He was fussy while waiting at the hospital for an ultrasound and she was getting to frustrated with him because he was crying.  There WAS a worker there from the agency and she did explain to bio mom that he was in pain and fussy from having to fast (for the u/s).  I just hope all this comes up in court when it's time to decide permanency.  Please keep Sprout in your prayers.  He has lost weight and still not eating like he should.  We have BIG plans this week and need a healthy boy to move forward with them.

Got a bit emotional when Sprout and I were looking out into the back yard (that has about 2.5 FEET of snow).  I was wondering if he was going to be here when the snow melted and the pool was open.  Or if he'd be here in the warmer weather to swing on the swings.  Bio mom thinks she's getting him back real soon.  Like in a few weeks.  But the agency worker assures me that it's WAAAY too early to think about reunification.  I've heard that story before...
