YIPPEE!!!

This is Landon at the doctors office yesterday, right before he got his cast taken off. Yes, you read right. HE GOT HIS CAST OFF!!!!! It was 2 weeks earlier than scheduled. After x-rays the doctor decided that it was completely healed. He didn't even scream when the doctor cut it off. The doctor said he would be sore for awhile. Notice the colorful cast. That was to hide how dirty it was. A week ago the cast started leaking urine out the bottom. So if the size and shape of the cast wasn't bad enough we had the extra element of horrific stinch. We were so glad to get it off.

Look, he has all his clothes and shoes on. It has only been about 24 hours and he will stand on it as long as he can lean on something. He stands like he still has the cast on. He still army crawls around. But he did sit at the bar stool this morning for breakfast. That was wonderful for me.

Day at the Spa

Spring Break at the Spa

The kids' spring break was this last week. We had planned on staying in a hotel in Salt Lake for the weekend. We decided that it probably wouldn't be any fun for Landon, with his cast and all. We didn't really have anything to do, so we went to the Spa. Okay, not really. I found a few recipes for facial scrubs and masks on the internet. With a bunch of different foods we whipped up a different recipe for each kid. Yes, I even made Bayler participate. He wasn't happy about it, but I bet he'll never forget the experience. As my mom always use to say, "We are making memories, and that's what counts." After we were done with our faces the girls got their finger and toe nails done too. That was their favorite part. They all said it would be alright if we never did the face thing again.

On Monday, we left Landon and went out for a nice long lunch at The Coppermill. It was fun for me to just relax and enjoy chatting with kids. They all have such different personalities and opinions, it fun to see them all interact nicely with each other. That was my small pocket of joy for the week.

Bye-Bye Buddy

Well, Buddy is no longer in our family. No, he didn't die. We decided that it was best for him and for our family if he went to live in a different home with no children. Bayler posted him on a website and within 15 minutes he found a new home. The bad part was the lady wanted him that day, so the Addason and Tylee didn't get a chance to say good-bye. We had decided not to tell them right away and just wait until they noticed he was gone. That night we had some friends over for dinner & F.H.E. and someone, Jenny, asked where Buddy was. Avery blurted out "he bit me and so we got rid of him today". Addason's little face had a look of total disbelief then sadness. She said, "You didn't really mom, did you?" I felt so horrible. She cried for about 20 minutes during dinner. The only thing that made her stop was we told her we could get a cat. My sisters cat just had kittens. Now the dilemma is which kitten should we get. We all agree on one thing, we are simply not a dog family.
