The CALL

After the initial shock of the call being here, I was actually rather calm.  Although I didn't know what to do with myself on Saturday.  So I spent the day baking, I may have over baked just a tad.  Bayler said he was only inviting a few people and my whole family would be here and just Scott's parents would be here so we didn't really need as much food as I was making.  It made the day go by fast though.

On Sunday we made guesses where we thought he was going.  Both Bayler and I thought he would stay in the states.  I didn't have an impression or anything, I guess I was hoping he would be kinda close.  In a weird sort of way I felt like if he were in the states I could go save him in an emergency.

It was a good thing I made a lot of treats.  The few people that were coming turned into like 60 people.  We still had lots of left overs.

I love this picture.  Both Tylee and Bayler have true smiles on.  In fact Tylee almost looks more excited than Bayler.

Elder Bayler Gunnell has been called to serve as a missionary of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints.  He has been assigned to labor in the Chile, Santiago North Mission.  He will report to the Santiago MTC August 13, 2014.

Even though its not in the states and I can't drive to get him in an emergency, I know that this is where the Lord wants him to be and so I know that's where he's suppose to be.

Spring Break, part 2

Image
On the drive home I remembered it was A's birthday.  So I thought "I'll just quickly whip up a cute cake for her and go grab some presents from Walmart".  4 hours later, not so quick, we had the cake and presents ready to go.

Dreyden liked the chair and the baby more than A did.

Tuesday morning I dropped the girls off at a friends house and headed to Midway all by myself. It was GREAT!!!! Every year the Foster Care Foundations host a symposium for therapist, foster parents, case workers and anyone that may be interested.   I met up with a few other ladies at the Zermatt Resort and we had lunch and attended trainings.  I loved it.  I loved learning how to be a better parent and the reason behind different behaviors.
Image
I was the most excited to hear from Daniel Siegel.  It was very interesting, at least most of the 9 hours.  He got a little deep towards the end and kinda lost me.  Over all, it was a great couple of days.

In the middle of one of the classes Scott sent me this picture.  I almost died!!!!! Bayler had submitted his papers for his mission 7 days prior and we were NOT expecting to get the call so soon.  This meant his call was at home and I was NOT!  I would be back on Thursday evening and Scott and Bayler would be in Colorado then.  Meaning we would have to wait until SUNDAY to open it.

Spring Break, part 1

We didn't go to another country or to Disneyland like EVERYONE else did but I thought it was still fun.  I decided I needed to time with just my kiddos so I got another foster parent to take the extra three.  Our first stop was the State Capitol.

It was a unique day to visit, there were zombies everywhere.  Apparently the zombie ball  is an annual event and appeared to be a really big deal.  It was very strange. They almost didn't let us in cause it was almost time for their dinner to start.

This door provided the most entertainment out of everything.  The were pretending to be Buddy the Elf.

Then we went park hopping for awhile cause the weather was wonderful.  Lucky for me we didn't get a picture of me attempting to spin on the bars.  My kids couldn't believe I was gonna try it and thought I was crazy and maybe they were a little embarrassed too.

We spent a lot of time swimming.  Tylee was such a good sport and took Dreyden swimming when ever he wanted to go.  He got a little too daring.  He would jump right into the water whether there was anyone there to catch him.

Dreyden's dream, balls everywhere

Scott came on Saturday and we went to Boondocks.  The kids and Scott went bowling, rode go-carts, mini golfed, played laser tag then did the arcade for hours.  I chased, held, played and attempted to entertain Dreyden for 5 hours.  I think they had more fun than me.
Image
Scott tried to entertain Drey a little by bowling with him.  He didn't so much like it.

We also went to the Lego movie.  Dreyden only made it through the first 1/4 of it.  But I learned that Megaplex as this great system.  If you take out your crying child and miss the majority of the movie they'll give you a free movie pass.

On Sunday we tried to find a sacrament meeting that started at 11.  Believe it or not we couldn't.  So instead we went to the conference center and did a tour so we could see the top.

None of us had ever been up to the top, it was so cool and truly amazing!!!

The view wasn't too bad either.

Image
We headed over to Temple Square for a bit.  Landon couldn't remember ever going so he thought the Christis was the coolest thing ever.
Image
Just as we came out the doors it started to rain/snow.  We decided it was time to head back to the hotel.

Image
The kids spent the rest of the afternoon swimming and playing games.  I got to play some games too but Drey and I spent a few hours going up and down the elevator and steps and running down the hallways.

This is how the canyon looked as we came home.  Beautiful, yes but I'm soooo sick of the snow and cold.   Its spring time, I want warm weather!!!
