Ode to the Large Honeywell – Post Edit

Several days ago, my hair dryer went ka-putz. :(

This was frustrating for a couple of reasons – 1) I had already put the root lifter and the mouse in my hair the morning I discovered it wouldn’t work … what was I to do?? and 2) I just bought this hair dryer June of last year.  My last hair dryer lasted over 5 years!  There’s no way this one is only lasting a year!

Well, to answer the first – I went to work with wet hair.  I just ran my hands through it a lot on my way there in hopes it would have a some-what styled look when it finally dried.

And, well, my second point is the reason why I haven’t gone out to buy a new dryer to replace my dead one.  Stubborn much? :D  I have it wrapped up in the cupboard, as it would be if it were in perfect working condition, waiting for the day I’ll plug it in and it will miraculously work once again.

Of course, due to my stubbornness, I was destined to several days of going to work with my hair down and wet or tied back and wet until I replaced my hair dryer.

Until … I discovered a back-up…

The Large Honeywell … our trusty fan.

It blows air.  It blows cool air.  What could be better?

We have a very small bathroom – with no vent.  So, when I’m blow-drying my hair, it gets very hot and I end up sweating before I exert any energy!  I think I have complained about this ever since I moved into this apartment.  This is why Aaron has mounted a small fan in the bathroom – much like the large Honeywell – to keep my complaining at bay.

Well, to make an already too long story about nothing not much longer, the Large Honeywell has prolonged my desire to go out and buy a new hair dryer.  It’s a win-win for me – I don’t overheat and my hair gets dried.

The only downside … it’s not portable! :D

Oh, and yes, I have plugged my hair dryer in several times since the day it died expecting it to work.  Extreme denial much?  The worst part, of course, is that this is all over a $40 hair dryer.  We’re not even talking huge dollars here.

Post Edit – 11/19/09

I walked in the door tonight and sitting on the floor, right in my path, was a new hairdryer … and a new toothbrush because my old one fell in the litter box yesterday! :)  I have a wonderful husband.  Thanks hunny!

I Have This Theory …

… that policemen drive well below the highway speed limit just for laughs.

They know that if they drive 50 mph on the highway, everybody else around them will mimic their speed – regardless of what the actual speed limit is!

They must get a kick out of this.

I would if I were a cop.  In fact, I’d probably have too much fun messing with people.

But, you see, I’m not a cop.

So, when I’m driving on the highway and get stuck behind a whole crew of drivers driving 50 mph just because the cop car in the slow lane is driving at that speed, my feathers get a little ruffled!  There is no reason for the rest of us to drive that slow.  Especially – based on my theory – when the cop is only doing this to see how many people he or she can mess with.

And, what makes it all worse …

Is when I drive 65 mph – the speed limit, mind you – past all these slow pokes, I feel like I’m breaking the law!

So, to all you cops out there protecting our streets –

First off – thank you for doing what you do.  Next – Please, for the love of all things funny, stick to standing outside your cars with your radar guns in position, staring down on-coming traffic.  Watching those speed-demons slam on their breaks and swiftly remove themselves from the fast lane hoping not to get caught, my friends, is far more entertaining – for both you and me!
