Our Christmas

While we’re in a year of firsts, it would be a bit of a shame if I didn’t document Kolby’s First Christmas!

Christmas-7

Christmas-6

It was a pretty low key holiday season – which I won’t complain about!  We stayed here in town and spent the holiday with Aaron’s family.  And if you ask me what the best perk of doing this was … I’d say it was being able to sleep in my own bed!  For a woman who loves her sleep, no bed is better than my own bed!

Santa Claus brought Kolby a little walker and it was so fun to watch him play with it – and, without any hesitation, start walking with it!

Christmas-3

Christmas-2

He’s just getting so big … and turning more and more into a little boy (instead of a little baby) every day!

Aaron, of course, spoiled me this Christmas – as he always does – with diamond earrings, a new duvet cover with two sets of sheets, more fancy kitchen knives for me to slice my fingers with, and a few other things for around the house.  I surprised him (it’s hard to do, let me tell you!) with a signed Phil Kessel jersey (his favorite Toronto Maple Leafs player), which he loved!  He also got some more tools (as he so often tells me, what man isn’t always in the need for more tools!?), a stereo to put in his MR2, and a new face razor with its accompanying brush/soap/blades that he’s been wanting for some time.

Both Aaron and I took the entire week of Christmas off from work, which was so nice.  As it is so hard for me to feel all Christmassy living here in the desert, having a break from normal life really helped me enjoy the season a little more.  It definitely helped having a little dude to include in all the festivities this year.  I am so looking forward to the days when he actually ‘gets’ it and we can share in his excitement!

This year has been such a big year for us!  We truly have been blessed beyond measure.  Even our trials have given us so much to be grateful for.  Our little Kolby has brought more joy and fulfillment into our lives than we could have ever anticipated.  His handsome little smile is only a glimpse of just how happy and sweet his personality is.  Aaron and I continue to be amazed at just how much our love for Kolby continues to grow … only causing our love for each other to deepen and strengthen.

Who knows what changes are waiting for us in the New Year, but I’m excited to see where life will take us.  I’ve learned so much this past year … but know I still have much learning to do!
