Contact me with questions, tips, ideas, etc! I’d love to hear from you!
Dear Readers,
What can I tell you about me…hmmm. Well my name is Cate Rawson but my hometown friends call me Cat and my family calls me Cath.
Anyway, I am a small town girl living in a BIG city now, raised for most of my life in a little town in Idaho, about 30 minutes west of Boise, called Middleton. My husband is from Houston Texas which is where we’re living now with his family close by. Being raised in the country on acres and acres of land, and no HOA, I have to say that I’m not a fan of subdivision life and my husband and I have dreams of one day living on a few acres of land and being able to paint our house any color we want. 🙂
The house I grew up in where my parents and little sis still live.
We have two little boys, Peyton (whos 3 and a half) and Sawyer (who is 6 months) who are just the cutest little miracles I’ve ever witnessed. Peyton was born severly premature by emergency c-section when he was just 24 weeks gestation. He weighed 1 lb. 7 oz. and stayed in the NICU for 4 months, eventually coming home on oxygen and an apnea monitor which he got off when he was around 10 months old. He had numerous blood transfusions, a couple surgeries, was put on 4 different breathing machines, and almost lost his sight, all within the first 4 months of his little life. He is a true miracle and is now a healthy and happy kid who reminds me everyday how precious life really is. Read his full story here.
This is Peyton about a week or so after he was born. The ring on his arm is my husband’s wedding band.
This is Peyton and Sawyer now! What little goofballs!
Sawyer was born after having 2 miscarriages and being put on bedrest, having a cerclage put in, and getting weekly shots of progesterone along with other various medications. He threatened to come early from about 27 weeks on but made it all the way to 39 weeks and was born a robust healthy 7 lbs 8 oz. He is a bright eyed smily happy baby and we can’t remember our lives without him. We also have a beautiful beagle named Beckett who is Peyton’s best friend but drives me up the wall 90% of the time. Our dog is named “Beckett”, by the way, because I liked that name for our next son (which would’ve been Sawyer) but my husband said he didn’t like it but I could name our dog Beckett instead as a compromise. So I got a dog… and named him Beckett.
This is our crazy dog Beckett.
So basically I’m surrounded by men who drive me crazy, make me laugh, remind me to follow my dreams, and teach me to relax. I’m hoping one day to have a little girl on my team. We’ll see if thats in the cards for us later…much later.
I started this blog a while ago in an attempt to put some purpose behind my madness. I felt silly and a bit guilty (as all moms do when they do things for themselves) creating and crafting and decorating and doing photography…etc, because I felt it wasn’t a justifiable use of my time unless there was a reason to be doing it. So this blog is now my reason. It helps me get all my little ideas out of my crazy brain and lets me justify them because you good folks are listening and hopefully learning. I have SO many things I love to do and this was the best way I could think of to be able to do them all with a purpose in mind! Besides blogging about my crafting adventures, I still do a bit of interior decorating, dabble in photography (mostly for friends and family), and sometimes throw in a craft fair or two where I sell everything from feathered cocktail hats to appliqued baby clothes. I also love writing music and playing the guitar and the piano with my musical hubby. I think those who know me well would call me fun and a little funky, kind of crazy, original, adventurous, loyal, and hopefully a good mom, wife, daughter, sister, and friend. I am trying my best to keep my sanity and find a balance between being ME and being MOM and its a constant struggle but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Anyway, thats pretty much me! I’m just a regular girl whos not afraid to fail, battleing glue gun burns, baby barf, days that are just too short (and those that seem WAY TOO long), putting one foot in front of the other and trying not to care about all the things that don’t get done. Thanks so much for taking a look at my little blog! I hope you have fun with the projects and come back for more!
-Sincerely,
Cate
